Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Looking for information about Presets
Check out server.log. I think this was a typo - I found a presets section for each player in /mnt/mmcblk0p2/tce/slimserver/prefs/server.prefs Oops... of course you're right. I have to type "please provide your server.log" so often, it's become second nature :-) The preset I copied is a radio station. - URL: http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s45545=aac,ogg,mp3 text: 106.6 | Smooth East Midlands (Easy Listening) type: audio So in addition to the 'title:', 'url:', 'icon:' and 'type:' fields in your CLI syntax there also seems to be a 'text:' field. I'm guessing I guess "text" would be set to whatever you pass as the title. Any tips for how to get the URL of the currently playing playlist item via the command line in a bash script? check out the "status" query. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Random Mix Problems
For now the results of your plugin seem to be very good! C'mon!... now that I've started to look into the RandomPlay bottlenecks with a 100k "collection" :-). There definitely is some unnecessary overhead. Thanks Michael, I'll have a play with both of those. I don't think the CLI method will fit conveniently into a standard sbpd command, but since sbpd allows for calling a separate script I think that could work. My scripting skills are non-existent at the moment, so figuring out how to get the URL and icon from LMS and constructing the corresponding command line could be a challenge. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109080 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

1) a file on the server that I can edit? Where would that be in a pCP setup? Check out server.log. There's a "presets" entry for every player. Don't edit the file while LMS is running. Make a backup before you modify it. 3) a CLI command to achieve this, which could be programmed onto an Sbpd button? There is a CLI command which is not documented. Don't know why. The big issue here is that RandomPlay would first create a full list of all track IDs. This list is being used to make sure we don't repeat tracks. Whenever a track is being played, that id is removed from the list. Is there some way to disable this? I'd prefer the playlist loading quickly. If it has 1 duplicate in I'd just skip it. No. I don't have a collection as large as yours. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Looking for information about Presets
I'm running pCP 3.5.0 on a Raspberry Pi 3B+. I also have some push buttons that are configured using the SqueezeButtonPi daemon. It all works very well. I'd now like to investigate whether Presets can be used with this setup. I can configure a button to play a given preset (e.g. PRE1=["button","preset_1.single"]), but since I don't have any presets configured for this player, I get an error message on the attached Joggler screen that says "Preset #1 not defined." I posted a similar question in the Sbpd thread, but having now experimented for quite a while with various command strings (with no success) I think it's more appropriate to ask in the LMS forum. What I'd like to know is how to configure presets on Squeezelite. I appreciate that presets are supposed to be associated with preset buttons, e.g. on a Boom, but now that there's an easy way to add hardware buttons to a pCP setup it seems like the preset concept could apply. On my Boom, I navigate to an an item, such as a track, then do a long press on one of the preset buttons, and that stores the preset. I think that preset is specific to that Boom, and isn't available to other players. So what command does the Boom trigger when I do a long press on a preset button? I saw some commands in the IR default mapping file, but since the procedure on the Boom uses a hardware button rather than an IR command, I don't think anything in that IR mapping file is what I'm looking for - certainly nothing that I tried seems to work. So to configure a preset on Squeezelite, is there perhaps: 1) a file on the server that I can edit? Where would that be in a pCP setup? 2) a way to use the attached Joggler to achieve this? 3) a CLI command to achieve this, which could be programmed onto an Sbpd button? chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109080 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

tr0ner wrote: > If I only select 1 genre it works a lot faster and also starts the > playback automatically after populating the playlist. . . For Michael: does the built playlist use disk space? What I am asking is if he has limited remaining disk drive space available could that impact performance? For tr0ner: How much free disk disk space do you have remaining? I know its a pain, but this is why Tagging is so important during the ripping process and fixing tags after ripping is so important especially for large music libraries. Consistency is the key to fast organized music library database. I have a large library by any standard of measurement and proper tagging is the only thing that makes it manageable. It's time to download a copy of MP3Tag if you don't already have a copy and do an hour of re-tagging a day until your library is cleaned up. If it were me, I would make a list of absolute Genre that I just had to have. For me it took labeling Albums as just "Rock" whether it was hard rock, pop rock, 70s rock, 80s rock, southern rock, alt rock, classic rock, acid rock, blues rock, country rock, british rock, garage rock, glam rock, indie rock, hair band rock, progressive rock, etc . . . . I tried to do away with easy listening, by putting it in pop, but it made it to hard for the better half to quickly play her type of tunes. One good thing about MP3Tag is that it is very powerful, so changing all "acid rock" labelled tracks to just "Rock" only takes a click or two and you can go do something else if you have a large genre being changed to match an even larger genre because you are not doing each one individually plus you don't have to individually approve each change when doing a batch. Just my thoughts from a Music/LMS junkie with an overly large music library. I have a powerful dedicated Server with 8GB of Ram running Vortexbox 2.4 and LMS. It takes about 10 to 30 seconds to build a specific genre playlist and about 3 minutes and 21 seconds on average to build a random song playlist with all genres checked. No matter the size, the playlist builds and starts playing automatically after an X amount pause. If I had more specific Genre with fewer songs in them, I am sure some single Genre picks would probably start playing almost instantly. But again I am using broad Genre labels so as to limit the total number of Genres. . *iPhone* Media Room: ModWright Platinum Signature Transporter, VTL TL-6.5 Signature Pre-Amp, Ayre MX-R Mono's, VeraStarr 6.4SE 6-channel Amp, Vandersteen Speakers: Quatro Wood Mains, VCC-5 Reference Center, four VSM-1 Signatures, Video: Runco RS 900 CineWide AutoScope 2.35:1, Vandersteen V2W Subwoofer Living Room: Transporter, ADCOM GTP-870HD, Cinepro 3K6SE III Gold, Vandersteen Model 3A Signature, Two 2Wq subs, VCC-2, Two VSM-1 Office: Touch with Vandersteen VSM-1s Kitchen: Touch in-wall mount w/ Thiel Powerpoint 1.2s Bedroom: Squeezebox BOOM Bathroom: Squeezebox Radio Around the House: SliMP3, SB1, SB2, SB3 Ford Thunderbird: SB Touch, USB drive Ford Expedition: SB Touch, USB drive iPhone's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13622 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109078 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Hi Michael, thank you for coming back to me. I already tried to set the memory usage to maximum, unfortunately it made 0 difference. I have about 250.000 tracks in the library. (Like I said the library is a total mess) The strange thing is that the server handles it perfectely when listing artists, looking for random albums and searching for tracks. Only the random mix crashes. Also it crashes the server pretty much immediately not after loading for a minute or two. There is 0 output in the logfile. After a while it just shows that the server has been started again) About 8 years ago when I still had the original squeezebox duet hardware my library was nearly as huge too but the random mix used to work flawlessly. Maybe something got changed in the server software how it generates the random mix / handles the database? Maybe it would make sense to revert to an older version of LMS server?
