Question: Can we remove Video/Photo scanner support?

- Yes, I never use this feature.
- NO! I use LMS to stream videos and photos to my TV and/or other
  streaming clients.
- What's the media scanner? Should I try it?
- I don't care.

I vote remove it and rename to Logitech Music Server

I run the lmscommunity/logitechmediaserver version that Michael refers
to and recommends.

There are some good instructions posted 'here'

There is one small error in them - don't make the playlist folder read
only; it needs read/write.

Can you instal Docker on your Synology NAS? If so you can run an LMS
container within Docker. It works perfectly - no need to rely upon
Synology’s versions any more :)

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS 8.0.0 is reporting that Radios need to be patched

2020-05-07 Thread HeadBanger

I have already applied the firmware recognition patch to all three of my
Radios but LMS is reporting the following:

30242

I have double checked that the patches are still installed and all are
working fine so I assume it's just a bug in LMS and I can ignore it?
I am running pinkdot's LMS repack 8.0.0 - 1587444734.

Thanks,

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS 8.0.0 + Radio

2020-03-29 Thread HeadBanger

I wish I had seen this thread yesterday!

I put configured a mesh environment yesterday and started getting this
message on my Radios. I wrongly assumed it was the Asus mesh causing the
issues so went back to repeater mode which also gave this message. My
wife then gave me an ear bashing for breaking something that was
working!

I’ve now installed the patch and all is well with our Radios again.
Happy wife = happy life!

Many thanks as always to Michael and everyone else that work to improve
and keep the Squeezebox ecosystem alive.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Remote streaming with Synology NAS (pinkdot/lmsupdate)

2020-01-24 Thread HeadBanger

Synology do not include LAME in their LMS package citing licensing
issues. However, as part of pinkdot’s re-compile and clean up he
includes LAME.

Check if there’s a newer build from pinkdot as it will likely be
included. If not then ask in his Synology thread and I’m pretty sure
he’ll compile a new one including it.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Help! New router isuues

2019-09-01 Thread HeadBanger

It’s an ASUS RT-AX88U replacing an RT-AC86U as it’s 2.4Ghz WiFi had
died.

I think I have solved it with your prompts on the IP range so I checked
all settings again there. I don’t know how I managed it but I had set up
DHCP server to start at 192.168.0.50 rather than 192.168.0.2. My server
and SBs have reserved addresses in that range (that I had copied from
outgoing 86U) and I’m guessing that was causing the partial working.

That solved the wired SBs but the wireless ones were still playing up.
After playing with various settings I found that they didn’t like Asus’s
Smart Connect (smartly (?) switches clients between 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi).
Switching that off allowed them to connect again. 30 mins uptime so
looks promising!

Thank you for the help all - much appreciated.

Thanks for the replies.

Server IP is the same and the players are physically set to control
themselves rather than another. I’ve tried resetting too - same result.
Players say they can’t see LMS but I can send music to them via LMS on a

It is really odd - never experienced anything like it! I am going to try
an older firmware on the router next.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Help! New router isuues

2019-09-01 Thread HeadBanger

I set up a new ASUS router yesterday and I am having issues with all of
my Squeezeboxes both wired and wireless.

All SBs state that they cannot connect to my LMS instance (running on
Synology NAS). However, iPeng can see it and the connected players that
state they cannot connect. Using iPeng I can play music on a selected
player but the player's display does not change and remains on home menu
(or whatever the last menu page was physically selected on the unit). So
it seems that the players are now somehow blocked from seeing LMS but
using iPeng I can send music to the players. Does anyone have any idea
what's going on and how to resolve this please?

I have reset the router multiple times along with turning everything off
and on again. I am completely stumped!

TIA
