[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Dsd128 seems transcoded but no sound

2021-11-14 Thread eduardoo

I've been using my mytek Manhattan II on lms via upnp bridge plugin for
quite some time. Since the network card of the mytek is limited to dsd64
and 192khz, anything above that would be transcoded to a playable
(flac?) format. Previously, playing dsd128 would show up as 17624
according to the display on the mytek, and music played on. Recently, it
would still show as 17624, but there's no sound.
Recent changes to my lms setup includes upgrade of the qlogitechmedia on
the qnap nas (which upgraded the lms to 8.3). The upnp plugin appears up
to date.

I did not change any special setting on the upnp bridge page nor the
player page. Wonder if there's any setting that might have been changed
or missed during the recent changes that have caused this issue. I
tried playing with some settings such as putting 192 as the limit on the
upnp bridge page, but it doesn't seem to help

Any pointers would be very much appreciated
Thanks.

Hi, Kidstypike.

Tried out your procedures. Worked perfectly. I suppose those
"libraries" would refer to that particular search done at that point in
time, and I would need to re-search if I'm to update it with newly added
music, right?
Thanks again.

Thanks, Kidstypike.
Sorry I haven't checked out my own thread for a little while (all that
virus stuff and the bad economy have been distracting. Sigh)

I looked at your instructions, but can't seem to connect how a separate
library is built with the advanced search.
I do have my MP3 and FLACS under separate folders. Let's call one
x/y/MP3 and the other one x/y/FLAC.
I can find the advanced search function (though I don't see the saved
search box you have up top)
Now, what's the connection between your second pic and third pic? How
do I "make" that separate library and have it listed under library views
(I only have one item there now)?

Many thanks.

I just re-checked that. Interestingly, it was enabled already. But
then I unchecked then checked it again, and chose "all libararies" up
top (though I only had one), and it suddenly worked again.

Thanks for your reply.
This probably won't work for me, because I actually added something like
"FLAC - " to the album names of all my FLACs, so they probably won't be
seen as duplicates to LMS.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] separate libraries?

2020-03-09 Thread eduardoo

I have LMS (7.9.X) set up on my QNAP NAS. On the NAS, I have my FLAC
files and MP3 files stored under two different main folders. Most of
the time, I just need to access the flac files, so the flac folder is
what the LMS is set to scan. However, from time to time, it would be
nice if I can access that MP3 folder/database without having it there
all the time to clutter my library. A long time ago, I have the MP3
folder listed on the folder list on LMS but with all items (music,
picture, etc) unchecked, and that used to allow me to go into the MP3
folder via "music folder" view, but it's no longer the case.

Is there a way to set up with two libraries and call them up separately
and easily? I tried looking into the settings and plugins and remain
clueless as to what can allow me to do that.

Thanks.

Hi.

I tried inputting that command on a terminal started with Winscp. As
soon as I entered, a swirling circle came up for a while and then it
says it lost connection. Probably more about me doing something wrong
with the test than the actual outcome of the test?

BTW, FYI, I'm playing through an SOTM SMS-100 running squeezelite
(connected to network switch with CAT7 cable, LMS running on a QNAP NAS
connected to the same switch), with its USB output connected to an
Esoteric K-03 as DAC.
I retried a back to back listening test between going flac direct and
wav transcoded this morning. There is still a subtle but audible
difference (though I do acknowledge that there's hardly any technical
reason for this), but whether it's better or worse either way would
probably be down to listener's preference. untranscoded is slightly
warmer and transcoded is slightly more open. The difference seems to be
much less than what I remembered during the days when I was using an SBT
as the renderer. I'm leaving it on FLAC direct for now to see if I can
"live with it" in the longer run, and save the trouble with the problem
tracks.

Thanks again.

Yes, set to playing flac natively, those files play fine. As for the
audibility issue, transcoding to wav does seem to sound slightly better
(although there's no strong reason why. Perhaps playing flac strains the
renderer more than playing wav?), and apparently I'm not the only one
who hears that way.

Hi, Phillipe.

I didn't post a server log because there was no error listed in it. As
for the UPnP bridge, I just used it briefly for troubleshooting to see
if it is the renderer's problem or the server's problem. I usually just
use LMS to play to an SOTM SMS-100 which runs Squeezelite.

Thanks.

Hi. Sorry for the late feedback.

Been out of town lately and didn't get to do the above investigation
till now.

Here are the findings:
1. ssh shell, and do set - Didn't see those three lines described
2. LMS webgui - Shows roughly those lines described
3. Tried adding those lines to LogitechMediaserver.sh - Nothing seems
affected.

In any case, I'm now using simple search, which works fine enough for
me.

Thanks again.

I don't have much running on my qnap other than LMS and twonky. Can you
please give me a little more detail as to what I should do? I know how
to ssh, but what should I do then?

Thanks a lot.

2017-12-04 Thread eduardoo

Hi,

I recently find that full text search plugin doesn't work with Unicode
on my setup (469L with your qpkg). See thread here:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?108322-LMS-search-doesn-t-support-Unicode
I have no idea whether it would in any way be related to the qpkg, but
Michael doesn't have a problem with it on the original implementation,
so I thought it might be a good idea to let you know as well. It's
really not a big deal, and I'm truly grateful for your qpkg.

Thanks.

Thanks. Is there any possibility that it is related to the qpkg? If
so, maybe I can also let Digimaster know about the issue.

Interesting. I'm running digimaster's qpkg on my qnap 469L. Is there a
country setting? Here's the settings information page.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS search doesn't support Unicode?

2017-11-29 Thread eduardoo

I have a number of Unicode (Chinese) tagged files in my library, which
are properly indexed and playable on lms. However, I just found out
that I can't search for them with the search function on lms, i.e. I
search for the exact keyword that should come up with something, but the
search comes out empty. Maybe it has been like that all along for the
many years I've been using the lms ecosystem and I just never tried
before? Or is there a setting i missed?

Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] C-3PO plugin, a trnscoding helper.

2017-11-13 Thread eduardoo

Hello.

I tried installing C3PO to my LMS7.9.1 on my QNAP TS-469L (atom based)
server. I also replaced the sox file in the relevant directory with
either sox-dsd-linux-gnu-i386+alsa or sox-dsd-linux-gnu-i386 (renaming
them to sox and changing permission to be consistent with the rest of
the files in the directory).

The reason for me wanting to install C3PO is that while my Sotm SMS-100
running squeezelite apparently can pass through DSD, my DAC can't decode
them (up to 192 only), and I would like to transcode the occasional DSD
files to 176 PCM.

Checking into the settings page, it says under version: "Either not a
valid version or can't run sox". On the file type page, only DSDplay
is available as a choice for DSD files. Playing normal rez flac (which
I've set to transcode to PCM before installing C3PO) doesn't seem to
work, so I suppose I really have the wrong sox on.

What am I missing? Thanks.

Thank you all for the responses.

To address some of your responses/queries/ideas.

1. Yes, the same thing had been posted to QNAP forum. Let's see what
(if anything) happens.
2. I worry about the RAM/ Pi performance issues because one of the
reasons I upgraded to the current NAS from an ARM/512GB ram one was that
it was struggling with my library (which was smaller back then about 5
years ago)
3. I'll look around and see what would be an appropriate machine to run
a clean and simple LMS. Just out of curiosity, I have this ancient
thing doing nothing much at home:
https://www.msi.com/product/tablet/WindPad-110W.html
It's now running 8GB ram / 50G SSD with Windows 10 (I can change its OS
if necessary). If a attach an 100M ethernet dongle to its only USB
outlet, do you think it'll run better or worse than a Pi?

Thanks.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Is there a genius out there who can put together a working LMS7.9 QPKG for QNAP NAS?

2017-10-30 Thread eduardoo

Ever since QNAP upgrading to 64 bit firmware, support for LMS is much
weakened. I can still manage to get it to play music (after some simple
hack to copy some files to the "wrong" folder), but getting some plugins
to work has become much more difficult (e.g. I can't get C3PO to work,
and using Squeezelite as a DLNA device no longer works with flac, etc.).
I understand that using docker (virtualization) works, but my older
QNAP 469L doesn't support virtualization, so it's not an option for me.
Another option is of course an external device running LMS, but that's
another box and more clutter.

>From what I understand (based on the very little that I know or
understand), the problems seem to lie with the long un-maintained SSOTS
and that LMS seems to look for various files in wrong folders since the
QNAP firmware update. I have no idea whether this is something that a
technically adept person (obviously not me) can easily fix, but I and
I'm sure many QNAP owners would appreciate a easy to install LMS7.9 QPKG
(installing 7.9 after the old factory 7.7 qpkg is already a little
convoluted for a lot of people)

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the well written Italian reply. Just kidding! :) But the
content do read a little a like a foreign language to the
non-linux-adept me.

I was thinking, if I rename the "wrong" bin folder (i386-linux) to
something like i386-linux-old, and then create a symbolic link named
"i386-linux" pointing to "x86_64-linux" (supposedly the right folder),
then restart LMS, would it achieve what you are saying?

Sorry for my inability to understand such technical details.

Thanks again.

The pi is an interesting idea, but I wonder if the little ram and
computer power it has can cope with the rather large library (almost 11k
albums and over 110k tracks) of mine. I changed to this nas a few
years back because the old one with ARM CPU and 1 GB RAM had trouble
running smoothly.

Thanks. I now managed to get that old 7.9.0 beta to work without those 2
plugins. Hopefully I'm not missing much going without full text
search.

Thanks again.

Update. I took the plunge and installed logitechmediaserver-7.9.0.tgz.
You're right, it behaves much like 7.9.1. Scan works, but the change of
metadata is slow on Squeezectrl.
Therefore, I would appreciate it if you can teach me how to delete the
plugins such that I can try going back to the older version of 7.9.0 I
have. As said,
/opt/ssods4/var/home/SqueezeboxServer/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins,
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer/var/home/SqueezeboxServer/Plugins
seem to contain nothing.

Thanks again.

Just to get it straight, you mean I should untick fulltextsearch and
remote library and restart 7.9.1, before reinstalling 7.9.0?
Also, is there somewhere where I can get a more recent build of 7.9.0 to
try?

Thanks.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Scan terminated unexpectedly

2017-06-05 Thread eduardoo

As I recently found that refreshing to next track's data on the
Squeezecontrol app seems slow after updating to 7.9.1
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107392-Album-art-and-progress-on-next-track-slow-to-show-after-7-9-1),
I went back to my earlier copy of 7.9.0
(squeezeboxserver-7.9.0-1408608555.tgz - a 121MB file). The refreshing
slowness is fixed, but scanning gets terminated unexpectedly now. Here
is what it says in scan progress:
Discovering files/directories: /share/Multimedia/Music (129904 of
129904) Complete 00:04:08

Discovering playlists: /share/Multimedia/Playlists (206 of 206)
Complete 00:00:00

Building full text index (1 of 7) Complete 00:00:07

Media scan terminated unexpectedly (Scanning Progress)
Total Time: 00:04:15 (Monday, June 5, 2017 / 1:45 PM)

and the scanner log is attached:

Server log shows this:

0016: [17-06-05 13:40:34.0040] Slim::Utils::PluginManager::load (377)
Warning: Couldn't call Slim::Plugin::RemoteLibrary::Plugin->initPlugin:
Can't locate object method "setRemoteLibraryHandler" via package
"Slim::Menu::BrowseLibrary" at
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer/var/home/SqueezeboxServer/Slim/Plugin/RemoteLibrary/LMS.pm
line 90.
0015: [17-06-05 13:40:33.9736] Slim::Utils::PluginManager::load (377)
Warning: Couldn't call Slim::Plugin::FullTextSearch::Plugin->initPlugin:
Can't locate object method "addPostConnectHandler" via package
"Slim::Utils::SQLiteHelper" at
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer/var/home/SqueezeboxServer/Slim/Plugin/FullTextSearch/Plugin.pm
line 103.

Going back to 7.9.1 fixes the scanning but the slowness in next track
data returns. Is there something I can do to 7.9.0 to make scanning
work again? Is there somewhere I can get a more current 7.9.0 software
that maybe can cure both issues? Obviously, the scanning part would be
the more important thing to fix.

Many thanks.

Can you find this folder?
/opt/ssods4/var/home/SqueezeboxServer/Bin/x86_64-linux
I Copied those from here and pasted to i386-linux folder.

I think it has to do with the recent qts 4.3 update. See here:

And here :

Hope it helps

I finally took the time to go back to 7.9.0 (after taking some time
finding my copy of it (squeezeboxserver-7.9.0-1408608555), as I can't
seem to find one on the net). Interestingly enough, the delay is no
longer there. Maybe I'll just stick with 7.9.0 for now. Thanks.

I always have https enabled on the nas, although I'm just using the
default Ssl cert. What else am I supposed to do?

Also, about the slight slowness, I'm a little puzzled as to why the app

Good question. I just tried the various UI that I have access to.
Problem seems mostly with Squeeze Ctrl on Android. Web UI seems better.
Squeezeplay on Windows also seems fine. Maybe it's more of an issue
with Squeeze Ctrl. Don't know if it's in any way related, but SSOTS
server log has this: Async::HTTP: Unable to load IO::Socket::SSL, will
try connecting to SSL servers in non-SSL mode Since there is no time
stamp, I don't know when that record came about.

Thanks.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Album art and progress on next track slow to show after 7.9.1?

2017-05-09 Thread eduardoo

I recently updated to 7.9.1 from 7.9.0 on my qnap 469L and noticed a
slight peculiarity. When I have a playlist of different songs in play,
as one track advances to another, the album art and track progress of
the next track would take longer to load than before, i.e., the next
track would have already been playing for over 10 seconds before its
info would show up, whereas it would almost be instantaneous before.
Ssots log files shows no error. Could there be some settings that I have
inadvertently changed? Anyone else experienced this?

Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Lms 7.9 QtS4.3 64bit problem?

2017-05-08 Thread eduardoo

Further reporting on the QTS4.3 issues with Logitech Media Server.

While searching for various cures, I have also upgraded to 7.9.1 via
SSOTS. As suggested by Michael, it does not affect the issues raised
earlier. After further testing of various functionalities, my
experience is as follows:

1. Playback on the Squeezelite is fine after manually copying a few
files, based on post #8 here:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?106851-LMS-X64-aware I
tried a number of formats and all seem fine.

2. I cannot get the Squeezelite to work as a DLNA renderer. Server log
would show an error which typically looks like this: 0007: [17-04-30
14:10:26.2596] Slim::Player::Song:pen (409) Error: Couldn't create
command line for flc playback for
[upnp://xxx.xxx.x.xxx:9001/music/670350/download.flc] LMS as a DLNA
server appears fine under DLNA controller to server to renderer setup.

3. I also cannot get the DLNA/UPNP bridge plugin to work. It worked
momentarily initially but broke down soon.

After some googling, it seems that all the issues should be SSOTS
related, but it's beyond me as to how it can be fixed. If your QNAP
supports Docker virtualization (mine doesn't), you can get around it.

I'm further posting my findings to hopefully find some hero who can tell
me that there is some quick fix to it, and to hopefully help other QNAP
users to at least get their LMS ecosystem back to playing music.

Cheers.

You mean your LMS worked fine without needing the mod like I did? Is
yours a newer machine or an older one? Mine is a 469L.

Now that I have at least fixed the playback issue by following this I
followed this (http://squeezebox172.rssing.com/brow...0146=2224)
and copying some files from the 64 bit folder to the i386 folder, is
there anything I can do to fix the odd issue with the DLNA behaviour?
If I use some DLNA controller to try playing music from LMS (as DLNA
server) to Squeezelite, it won't play. It seems that the DLNA server
part still works as playing the same stuff at other DLNA renderers (such
as a tablet or phone) works, but trying to stream anything to
Squeezelite as DLNA renderer doesn't.

Any idea?

Thanks a lot.

Btw, does anyone know if the latest version of lms (7.9.1) would make
any difference regarding compatibility with qnap qts 4.3 and its 64 bit
system?

Thanks, but darn, container is not available for my 469L! Too bad.

2017-04-28 Thread eduardoo

As for the pi solution, maybe it's something worth considering, too,
since I can't even remember how I managed to squeeze that LMS 7.9 into
my qnap already. Interestingly, my SOTM SMS-100 can run LMS, too,
though I can't remember exactly which version. Maybe that can be a
solution, too.

Thanks.

Sounds interesting. What's docker? Something that runs in the nas?

Thanks.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Lms 7.9 QtS4.3 64bit problem?

2017-04-28 Thread eduardoo

I've been running 7.9.0 - 1408608555 on my qnap 469L for some time.
After updating to qts 4.3, twonky no longer runs on it because of some
64 bit issue. What I didn't expect was that it killed lms, too. Lms
and my squeezelite running sotm sms-100 see each other, but music won't
play. After some googling, I followed this
(http://squeezebox172.rssing.com/browser.php?indx=4720146=2224) ,
did some ssh to copy some files from the 64 bit folder to the i386
folder, and music played again. (Lucky, as I wasn't really sure what I
was doing) However, using upnp controllers to feed the squeezelite with
files from lms no longer works (feeding things from other sources as
well as playing music in lms on upnp clients seem to work though).

Is this the only thing I'm missing, or are there other things that would
go wrong, too.? If so, how can I fix them?

Thanks.
