Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Bought QNAP TS251+ and alreay regret it...
OMG - what are you all trying to do to this poor fellow?!? 1. You can NOT install any version of LMS natively under QTS 4.3.x anymore! LMS is a 32-bit app and QTS no longer supports that after 4.3.x 2. If you want to run LMS 7.9.x under a previous version of QTS, you ca - but it is very difficult because the tarball is supposed to be loaded temporarily in the /tmp folder which resides by default in flash. The 7.9.x tar balls are too big so the flash overflows. Therefore you have to temporarily move the /tmp folder to your HDD. That is no easy task. 3. If you want to run LMS under QTS 4.3.x you need to use Container Station. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Bought QNAP TS251+ and alreay regret it...
El Zombie Forgive the parts that are already familiar to you in this endeavour, but this is how I used to do it on a Qnap TS121. A quick précis: I assume that you have the correct v7.2.2 already installed on the Qnap. My suggestion is to do some basic configuration and play back, say Radio Paradise, just to check that it works. Then open the SSOTS web gui and stop LMS. Use WinScp to perform the operations detailed in this post, http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?69986-SSODS-4-released&p=784918&viewfull=1#post784918 remember the path might be different and also to save each change to the files. Download this file and place it on the Qnap nas in the Public Share. Code: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/7.9/sc/a519d5e/logitechmediaserver-7.9.1-1504317335.tgz Rename the file to Squeezeboxmediaserver (I think that is correct) Go back to the open SSOTS in a web browser. LMS is already stopped Restart LMS. Then you might want to read this post http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?101137-Upgrading-to-LMS7-8-on-my-TS-119-Success!&p=844824&viewfull=1#post844824 I don't know if the new Spotty or the YouTube plug in will work, you will just have to try. I stopped using my Qnap (ARM processor) over 12 months ago and now run it on a Raspbian Stretch-Lite rpi3b. Much better. Or the picoreplayer. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Bought QNAP TS251+ and alreay regret it...
Probably your QNAP ran out of flash memory since /tmp lies there. And if your QNAP doesn't use HDA_DATA but CACHEDEV1_DATA as mountpoint for your HDD, /share/HDA_DATA lies in flash, too. With the symbolic link you avoid filing up the flash. But the move command won't run through, either. Do not forget to remove the tgz from /share/HDA_DATA/Public to get some flash memory back. karlek's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64321 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107971 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Bought QNAP TS251+ and alreay regret it...
I don't know what you always do. I did this quite often a while ago and as long as my QNAP hosted my LMS. If WinSCP doesn't work for you or with you ;) take putty in SSH mode (not this psftp) and enter the following: Code: cd /share ln -s CACHEDEV1_DATA/Public HDA_DATA/Public That creates a symbolic link from /share/HDA_DATA/Public to /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/Public. So SSOTS should find the tgz at last. If that didn't work, move it via SSH from /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/Public to /tmp: Code: cd /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/Public mv squeezeboxserver*tgz /tmp karlek's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64321 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107971 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Bought QNAP TS251+ and alreay regret it...
With Filestation you can't see the complete stucture. It starts always under /share. Volume1 for example would be /share/HDA_DATA for me. For others ist /share/MD0_DATA/. The real path names depend, how you configured your harddrives, if you have more than one. I have two single internal HDDs, so they are mounted as /share/HDA_DATA and /share HDB_DATA. With a RAID system, you'd get this /share//MD0... I've seen /share/CACHEDEV... either, but I don't know to what system it would belong. In my case, Volume1/Public is the right location for SSOTS and all tgz in it are shown under "Step 2: c) Choose" Step 2: a) Upload is broken since a long time ago, as far I can tell. How are your HDD's configured? RIAD, JBOD, single? And what entries has your Root directory in FileStation? To reach /tmp or /share/... directly, you'll need an SSH client. Maybe WinSCP could work also. karlek's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64321 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107971 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

It seems that you now have two LMS running on your QNAP. 7.9.0 in a Container. 7.7.2 on the QNAP itself. 7.7.2 can see your music folder and so you can see it too, while you added the 7.7.2 library remote to your 7.9.0. You'll need to export/import the path from your QNAP to your container. I don't know how. Maybe you should follow oyvindos link in QNAP Forum. karlek's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64321 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107971 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Finished copying my music library to the QNAP and changed its network address to the old LMS address (on the ReadyNAS). Just for fun I shut down the ReadyNAS and reload the same LMS URL and LMS starts. I check the version and it is 7.9.0 (my ReadyNAS has 7.9.1). OK, so I go on and Softsqueeze and my SB Touch connects. A bit surprised I scan the music library, but nothing. I open the Browse dialogue, but shows only bin, boot, dev, etc, home, lib, lib64, media, mnt, opt, proc, run, sbin, srv, sys, tmp and usr. Nothing works and I can't see my ordinary network. I then tested radio, it works! So I have installed LMS 7.7.2 and it is nowhere, I installed smth from the "container installation instruction" and chose the "latest" version. But I never started to follow the container installation instructions since I waited for the music to be copied (20 hrs). I have no idea how I have come this far... The only thing I need to find now, is the music library on the QNAP NAS. Anyone have any explanation and ideas how I can find the library catalogue? And also to copy the settings and favourites from the old LMS installation on the ReadyNAS (got them as a backup)... Sorry, misunderstood, I have 7.9.1 installed on a ReadyNAS, not on the QNAP. Renaming the file is way more easy than "fiddling" with an editor to adapt SSOTS upgrade routine. But if you already have 7.9.1 installed don't bother. But then I don't really understand what answers you hopes to get. karlek's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64321 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107971 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

"If you succeded, bear in mind that the bash coming with SSOTS is vulnerable and you should exchange it. " Right. Clear as an atumn day. Not. No, I have 7.9.1 installed "BASH version is vulnerable and technically should be upgraded which is a bit of a fiddle." Right. No fiddle. The instruction above with the container stuff seems to create trouble, looking at the thread. Should have gone for a Netgear instead. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Bought QNAP TS251+ and alreay regret it...
Do you have LMS 7.7.2 already installed? If not, try this one:http://download.qnapclub.de/qpkg/logitechmediaserver/LogitechMediaServer_7.7.2_x86.zip. If that worked, you can continue. If not and you don't have running installation of LMS on your new QNAP, I'm out of ideas. :( After that download 'the latest 7.9.1 gnuzipped tape archive (tgz) for all architectures' (http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/7.9/sc/a519d5e/logitechmediaserver-7.9.1-1504317335.tgz) and rename it from "logitechmediaserver-7.9.1-1504317335.tgz" (for example) to "squeezeboxserver-7.8.1-1504317335.tgz" or "squeezeboxserver-7.8.11-1504317335.tgz" or so. The file name only matters for the SSOTS installation routine. Save the file in your QNAPS /Public directory, open SSOTS (your.QNAP.ip:9099). Then choose UPGRADE and follow the instructions. If some steps fail, come back here. If you succeded, bear in mind that the bash coming with SSOTS is vulnerable and you should exchange it. karlek's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64321 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107971 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Bought QNAP TS251+ and alreay regret it...
Did you check the QNAP forum? Basically you just download SSOTS and install that 'manually' from the app manager, and then follow instructions to install 7.9. There is some issue with the fact that BASH version is vulnerable and technically should be upgraded which is a bit of a fiddle, but if you only use your NAS internally (i.e. Do not expose externally) then you probably do not need to worry about that. Yes it will take a couple of hrs but once installed it just works. You could also put it on a RPi and use the NAS as a file server to a Pi based LMS but that's hassle too imho and another box. Upgrades to LMS require you to rename the downloaded file but again this is straightforward. Instructions in the QNAP forum are very good. If you get stuck ask for help. Is there any way to install LMS 7.9 without spending four years on a computing degree first? Yes, I have searched on the net and have found two instructions that are too complicated...
