I'm sure this experience has been horribly frustrating. I've been in similar situations. Sometimes when I'm stuck on something that just isn't working, it helps to shift my attention to something else for a while. Unfortunately, that doesn't work well if I've turned my attention to something that depends on the very problem I haven't been able to solve yet. That's exactly what I've done many times, and it appears to be what you've been doing, when you start working on plugins before you've been able to get LMS to connect to mysqueezebox.com. When you do find the time to work on this again, above all else, try to be patient with yourself. Hurrying hardly ever helps. Does that also disprove Michael's analysis that your installation of LMS is not able to make outgoing connections? I don't know enough to say. But I do think it's likely that the source of your problems is somewhere in your old settings and unsupported plugins. A clean start on a fresh SD card is likely to get you a working installation of LMS. After that, you may or may not be able to recreate all the customizations you are accustomed to, but if not, you should be able to come up with a configuration that meets your needs and makes it possible to enjoy your music again. You ignore his advice at your peril. If he has examined your log and concluded that LMS can't do outgoing connections, there is at least a 99% chance that he is correct. Rather than distracting yourself with side issues that may be irrelevant, your best bet is to focus on what is preventing LMS from connecting with msb.com and other other sources, when other software on the same machine is making outgoing connections. I do not know enough to help, but my best guess is that Ronnie's suggestion of trying a clean start is the way to go. I know, I know, you don't want to go through the trouble of reconfiguring everything. I've made the same mistake, many times, and I'll probably do it again. But this thread is now eleven days old, and your first post says you had already had the problem a week or more. I suspect that if you start from scratch with a new SD card and a clean install of LMS, you will have a working system within 24 hours. It might take a few more days after that to get everything working the way you want, but nowhere near as long as it's been since your problems started. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS seems to not open ports anymore
that was also my assumption when I saw the log entries. but I can ping the outside world from the server. If I ssh to the machine where LMS is, I can pint to mysqueezebox.com and it resolves and pings back. I can also stream radio channels from the web. I also can get weather forecast from the weather plugins, and get stock or sports results in superDateTime I have tried restarting the LMS and the whole machine, I have also tried rebooting the players, both the player and server, I tried to play with config and restarted the player and the server and both. I do not believe the problem is a generalized network issue, but may be wrong. If the issue is with mesqueezebox.com, I may be able to not use it. At this point the only applet I cannot manage to launch is the Custom Clock applet - but I believe my machines are stuck at V1 when the non-licensed ones are only available starting 2.12 maybe if I resolve that I'll be in good shape. yes. but it seems to me the apply button only saves the data, it says "changes saved" but it doesn't seem to be doing any validation. I tried to change password, and even created a second account just to see if it would help, and I just cannot seem to get trough. I must be doing something wrong. reconfiguring things you haven't configured in years is no fun... how do I get my LMS to connect to mysqueezebox.com ?? I cannot access the app gallery, and License manager (in advanced) says "Unable to detect mysqueezebox.com identity, please register one" I can connect to mysqueezebox.com with the credentials I am trying to enter in the mysqueezebox server-config tab, and get nowhere. Rebooted several times. O plus it seems the new raspbian is refused to remount samba shares on my d-link NAS for 20 minutes after shutting down. Joy. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS seems to not open ports anymore
@Marsupial If you are talking LMS configuration, my advice is, DON'T! It's likely corrupted, and, frankly not worth taking that chance. Just install the required Plugins and reconfigure as you use the LMS. When you have it all sorted and working to your satisfaction, make a back-up, infact, make a back-up now of your base image. If you have a raspberry pi with the Raspberry PI Desktop OS you can use the Image Copy facility to make a copy of the sd card. If say, your sd card is 32 gb but you are only using 6 gb then the Imager tool should copy it to a 8gb sd card There is also a tool on github call PiShrink which works on RPI OS and Linux (Mint.in my experience) A sd card with a RPIOS Desktop image is a handy thing. ronnie Man in a van's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43627 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116946 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS seems to not open ports anymore
Yeah, that is pretty much what I will be doing. Installing the newest Raspbian on a fresh SD card, install the latest LMS. but I was hoping to not have to redo the whole setup, as I fiddled quite a bit on that, but a long time ago. More specifically, I had correct screen visuals for the various players that displayed correctly good information. I am hoping to migrate the setup from the "old" server over the new one to avoid the whole setup phase. Although, now that I know how to clone the raspberry card, I will back it up once it works. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS seems to not open ports anymore
the "old" card runs an old buster raspbian lite onto which I had installed LMS and apache. The apache serves files I used to display stuff on the various players on the network. no desktop, no nothing. Connects to network via ethernet trough a hub, and is setup with fixed IP. Today I tried to install samba to help with pulling files from it, and it seems the machine doesn't properly boot anymore, or fails to open network (it is headless - would need to connect it elsewhere to see what's up.) The card and pi had been running non-stop for 2-3 years, so maybe they are just up for renewal I have currently changed the pi and the SD card and am running the cloned card. I can SSH to it. I tried running it, and also to install LMS 8.2 to replace 7.9, I keep getting this Code: [22-10-21 13:00:47.2423] Carp::Clan::__ANON__ (214) Warning: DBIx::Class::Storage::DBI::__ANON__(): DBI Exception: DBD::SQLite::db do failed: attempt to do on inactive database handle at /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/lib/DBIx/Migration.pm line 113 [22-10-21 13:00:47.2450] Slim::Schema::forceCommit (2143) Warning: Trying to commit transactions before DB is initialized! yeah straight after reboot it already gets 99+% CPU, seems like you're right and we're in a loop Code: pi 699 0.4 0.3 12192 3360 ?R12:12 0:00 sshd: pi@pts/0 pi 700 1.1 0.3 8356 3624 pts/0Ss 12:12 0:00 -bash squeeze+ 725 104 3.7 48352 35744 ?R12:13 0:05 /usr/bin/perl /usr/sbin/squeezeboxserver --prefsdir /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs --logdir /var/log/squeez root 727 0.0 0.3 9944 3152 pts/0S+ 12:13 0:00 sudo ps -aux root 728 0.0 0.2 9784 2560 pts/0R+ 12:13 0:00 ps -aux Marsupial's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59182 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116946 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

It worked until about 8-10 days ago. I have rebooted it multiple times, reinstalled, changed version, reinstalled the same version, and am still stuck. not sure what is going on. I'll look in the logs and report any findings. Thanks a lot. If it continues like that then it implies to me it that it is in a loop. Rebooting might cure it (assuming it used to work). It creates a log file called server.log - however, you might have to dig around to find it. Here it is at /usr/local/slimserver/Logs/server.log Stopping LMS and removing its database might resolve things for the next restart. I am currently using perl 5 (v5.28.1) - I think I originally installed it when I installed the first version of LMS that went on this raspberry pi. yet I see nothing on ports 9090 or 9000 - it seems like the server started without opening anything ? I tried to stop/start the server, reboot, always similar outcome. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS seems to not open ports anymore
I have been having issues for about a week or two, where I can no longer connect to the server. At first, I tought there was something corrupt on the system, and saw a thread that seemed promising... https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?110386-DBI-Exception-DBD-SQLite-st-execute-failed-database-disk-image-is-malformed=1063030#post1063030 I tried.
