Holidays and the inevitable extra workload when you return ;-) I removed all the media from being indexed, apart from the music and edited the alarm from the browser to pick the current playlist. I also un-checked a number of standard plugins that I don't actually use. Not sure which change cured my issue, but yes, alarms are now working as they should and the LMS no longer stops just after the alarm goes off. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.8.0 now available!
I'm running LMS 7.75 on WHS v.1 and am quite happy with it. However, I'm tempted to update to 7.9 for the performance enhancement and in order to take advantage of any further development that may happen. I'm curious about the following: On WHS, all updates seem to require uninstalling the previous version before installing the new version. If this is the case, will I lose any settings? I'm using many plug-ins, including many by Erland Isaksson, for which I've paid lifetime licenses. Will these still work? Will the Dynamic Playlists function, which is dependent on SQL Playlists have to be set up again? Or will they work without any adjustment? My files are all encoded as FLAC, and in order to make the indexing work the way I'd like, I have been putting nothing in the ALBUMARTIST field for compilation albums, and removing any COMPILATION= tags. With this combo, all contributing artists show up in the index, which is what I would like. Has this behavior changed? Regarding the support for on-line radio, podcasts, Pandora, etc, I've been concerned that Logitech would end support, so I'm glad to hear this has been solved. My question is whether there is a step-by-step guide as to how to convert from one method to the other? Finally, I find it frustrating that playlists created in LMS and those created in WMP are so close to being the same, and yet are not entirely compatible. I would love to be able to use and edit the playlists in both programs. Any chance that could be on the development list? Thanks so much for keeping this platform alive. I only wish that someone (Microsoft?) would buy it and start making compatible devices again. I already own 4, and would keep adding if I could. Logitech really screwed up by abandoning it. --nyindieguy nyindieguy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=62092 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101237 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.8.0 now available!
Hi I've been using 7.8.0 for a quite some time now under Windows 10. To start it was a bit flaky in terms of starting up. But a right click, Run as Administrator and selecting the Run at System Start option has worked flawlessly for well over 6 months. In the last few days this option has failed on numerous occasions. The setting just doesn't stay set at Run at System Start. Anyone else seen this and have a solution please? The Windows 10 is a 'server' style setup. So the machine is running continually, hence not understanding why the Run at System Start will take for a ReStart but sometime later fail. Apart from using LMS to serve up my music we also use it as an alarm clock in 3 bedrooms, so LMS not running is causing an issue with wake up times too. Cheers! Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.8.0 now available!
The iPlayer patches are likely to be very short term. Given we now have a proper updated plugin I can't see anyone wasting time maintaining the patches, so the next time the BBC change something incompatibly that's likely to be end of the road for the patches. Also applying the patches requires you to read and understand detailed instructions about replacing individual files by hand. The new Dash compatible plugin is the way forward, it's easy to install (being just a normal plugin) and it is being maintained. So BBC changes should only require an update to the plugin. You just need to add an extra plugin repository and turn on seeng 3rd party plugins, it's all straight forward. Post in the topic for the Dash compitable plugin if you need help installing it, garym gave the link in his post. Hi I just upgraded from version 7.5 of the server to version 7.8.1 When I next switched on, the handset (remote) software upgraded too. Now control options have been degraded and complicated in numerous ways. Notably: 1. There is no more Advanced menu, so I can no longer, for example, order the appearance of items on the Home menu 2. While playing a track, I used to be able to scroll to another album and track and just hit the big central button and it would instantly play the new song. Not now. Now I get an annoying menu that asks me if I want to add it to a playlist, play it after this track, play it now ( YES for God's sake!), or something else. Is there any way I can restore the simple yet powerful functionality of the old handset without going back to 7.5? I like 7.8 because it reliably plays a song on request, where 7.5 used to frequently go into silence for 10 minutes, play 2 seconds of music, then go quiet for another 5 minutes, then finally play the rest of the song. Yes, 7.5 was hatefully unreliable. 7.8 seems to have fixed all that. Still, it would be nice if I didn't have to do all the clicking to cut in with a new song. It feels like I'm having to fill out a form just to change tracks! Thank you for your insights, tips or advice here. Frankie p.s. Great work, despite the niggles! Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.8.0 now available!
Hi All, My husband and I know nothing about programming so talk to me in plain English please. As above, two of the three boxes have found the 7.8.0 version automatically and have downloaded it. The third box says 7.7.3 is the latest version available. How do I get 7.8.0 installed on the third box? Thanks. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.8.0 now available!
Hi Again, The problem is that the box doesn't detect that 7.8.0 is available. I've tried unplugging it and leaving it unplugged, but it still doesn't pick up the update. It's not even picking up 7.7.5 from the official site. Please advise. When I told it to connect to the server, then it picked up the update. Thanks.
