[sumo-user] Understanding dfrouter

2020-07-15 Thread Issa, Joshua
Hello,

I am trying to use dfrouter to create routes for trains. Although the SUMO
simulation will run, no vehicle runs on the tracks. I have used the following
dfrouter command:

It creates the files without issue. I have tried the and
 tags, but neither have worked.

What am I missing?

[sumo-user] Problem in Set Lateral Alignment in TraCI

2020-07-15 Thread MohamadReza-Haghani
Hi,

I wrote a code, in TraCI, in order to make vehicles to pull over and stop in
a two-lane one-way road and in a specified duration. For the vehicles moving
in the right lane, the lateral alignment is set to "right," and the speed is
set to 0. Also vehicles in the left lane are forced to change lane to the
right lane. When the code is running, the vehicles on the right lane pull
over to the right side of the lane and stop. The vehicles on the left lane
change their lanes but stop in the left side of the right lane. I checked
their lateral alignment. Although it is set to "right", they stop in the
left side. Please find attached a screenshot of the code and other required
files. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Reza.

Re: [sumo-user] Traffic simulation for a month

2020-07-15 Thread Tripplanner Mumbai
Hello,
Let us assume that a machine with sufficient computing power is available.

Now, there are two bare minimum input files for the simulation (1)
city.net.xml - contains the structure of the underlying network (2)
city.rou.xml - contains the vehicles and respective routes (paths) and
possibly schedule.

Do you mean that we should have separate files of (1) and (2) for each day
of the month?

thanks and regards,

Hello Everyone!

I am trying to run a simulation in which I would like to run a vehicle in a
certain loop multiple times. I have attached the image of the route file I am
currently using. I have manually defined the path of my vehicle from point A to
point B along the blue lines, as shown in the image attached. Now, after
reaching point B, can I use rerouters (if possible via TraCI) to send the
vehicle again along the same path A to B?

If yes, can I have the link to get ideas on solving this problem?

Thanks and Regards,

Re: [sumo-user] lcCooperativeSpeed

2020-07-15 Thread Michael Behrisch
Hi,
the parameter describes how much a vehicle adjusts its speed for the
lane change wishes of others. There are two speeds involved here, my own
wished speed v and the wish of the driver who wants to change into my
lane and wants me to for instance reduce my speed to w. sumo does a
linear interpolation between these two values, so the resulting speed
V = (1 - l) * v + l * w, where l is the lcCooperativeSpeed parameter.
For the default value l = 1 the vehicle will always choose the speed the
other vehicle wants. The smaller l, the less the speed will be reduced.

Best regards,
Michael

Re: [sumo-user] Disconnected plan for person "0"

2020-07-15 Thread Maria.Armellini
Hi Tonmoy,

I think there is no possibility to do this with the command line, you have to
add the device parameters manually. You could assign the device by global
options, but I think that’s not what you are looking for (see
https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Definition_of_Vehicles,_Vehicle_Types,_and_Routes.html#devices).

There is an important difference between VType/VClass Taxi and the Taxi Device:

The Taxi Device (see https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Simulation/Taxi.html) simulates
demand responsive transport (DRT) and you can add this device to any vehicle.
This allows a fleet of taxis to serve customer requests based on a configurable
dispatch algorithm. So you don’t have to define trips for these vehicles, the
algorithm will do this for you. This line ““ is used to keep the taxi waiting at the given lane until
the first dispatch is received. No more stops need to be added.

If you are looking for a vehicle that makes a specific route and stops to pick
up passengers, then you don’t need to use a Taxi device. You can just add stops
to the route or vehicle. See
https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Definition_of_Vehicles,_Vehicle_Types,_and_Routes.html#stops.

Giuliana

Normally I use the lower command to generate 10 taxi trips. But I am missing

By command line? If you mean adding more taxis with different stops in the
simulation, you can just add more trips with different IDs. For example:

Hi Tomoy,

You are getting the error "Error: Disconnected plan for person '0' (edge 'C4C3'

vehicle 0_0 from 'C4C3' to 'B1B2' and then again from 'C4C3' to 'B1B2' with a
taxi, so how does the person get back from 'B1B2' to 'C4C3'?

You can make the return trip by taxi:

Or you can say that the person should walk to the start edge again and then
take a taxi:

If you choose this option, you will have to add the pedestrian crossings to
your net
(https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Simulation/Pedestrians.html#generating_a_network_with_crossings_and_walkingareas).
This can be done using netconvert with the following command:
netconvert -s gnet.net.xml --crossings.guess -o gnet.net.xml

I don’t understand why you define fixed routes for the taxis. If you are trying
to simulate an on demand/ride hailing service this is not necessary. You can
just give the first edge, from where the taxi will wait for a request:

Hi,
it depends a little on the data you need. If you need individual vehicle data,
you could use vehicle route output
https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Simulation/Output/VehRoutes.html with exit times which
will tell you when the vehicle entered the second edge. For aggregated measures
look at edge data
https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Simulation/Output/Lane-_or_Edge-based_Traffic_Measures.html
or multi-entry-exit detectors
https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Simulation/Output/Multi-Entry-Exit_Detectors_(E3).html

In general have a look at https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Simulation/Output.html

Re: [sumo-user] Traffic simulation for a month

2020-07-15 Thread Michael Behrisch
Hi,
it is entirely up to you how you organize the files. I would expect the
network to be quite stable so there is no need for several network
files. You can also put all routes in one file but if you need fast
access to a specific day or even hour or want to do parallel simulations
of different time periods you should split the route files according to
that requirement. But this is not enforced it is just optimization.

Best regards,
Michael

[sumo-user] Braking for turns

2020-07-15 Thread Zev Nicolai-Scanio
Hi,

I’m working on my first major SUMO project and I read in the NETEDIT
instructions that the speeds on turns will be reduced based upon the radius.
I’m interested in one detail about how cars brake when there is a speed limit
for a turn that is lower than that of the main road. Do they brake while they
are in the turn or do they brake right before the turn. Also when they brake do
they brake at the max deceleration? I’m trying to make some calculations using
Newtonian mechanics to calculate the times that cars get to certain points and
I want to make sure I am modeling the situation correctly.

Thank you very much!
Best,
Zev

I’m interested in the details of how the setSpeed function in TraCI
accelerates/decelerates a given vehicle to the target speed. Is this done
uniformly at the max acceleration / deceleration or is there some other
acceleration / deceleration curve used?

Thank you!

Best,
Zev

Re: [sumo-user] Traffic simulation for a month

2020-07-15 Thread Tripplanner Mumbai
Hello,
Yes, segregating the routes data as per suggestion will be helpful.
However, I am clueless about the underlying theory of simulation in SUMO.
That is, how it simulates each day differently (given the network file and
separate routes files). What are the attributes it takes into account to
imitate the real-time scenario?
Thanks and regards,
Dillip Rout
