Poking around in the CSS it appears all the buttons have:

about 50% size. Thus, if there is a bar code, it is too small for
the store etc. to read.

If I copy paste the exact same URL into Chrome and then click on
print from that, I get a full size image with readable bar code. OK,
that's an acceptable work-around; but why is this happening every
time with SeaMonkey? Is this some sort of bug that only I keep
experiencing? Is there some adjustment within SM that I'm not
making?

SeaMonkey remembers your last print settings until you change them.

The next time you need to print, instead of going directly to Print, use
Print Preview and set the size and orientation as desired. SM will
remember those settings until you change them again.

OK, that may have worked. I looked at Print Preview on the original page, and sure
enough it was set to 60% size...why, I have no idea. When I changed it to 100%, and then
went back and clicked on the Print link it did print out correctly. Now I
hope this is really sticky and will apply to all future printing. Thanks to all those who
suggested utilizing Print Preview!!

I use print preview religiously; otherwise I'd consume even MORE of the

The SM browser has Print Preview on the file menu, but the SM mail client
does not.

I've used David Ross' suggestion for user.js (later in this thread), so now my
sticky browser settings get wiped out each time I restart Seamonkey. That's
very helpful, but since I typically leave a SM mail window open all day, it
resets my scale preference only once per day.

I've NEVER had Print Preview in the mail client; I always assumed that was just the

I've always wished this option were in the compose window too -- I often print
my outgoing business emails to edit or proofread them before sending them out,
and it's annoying when they unexpectedly print at 50%!

I use lots of extensions, but the only one I'm aware of that comes close to the

Sure enough, I just restarted SM in safe mode and Print Preview is there as
plain as day in the mail window.

Now I just have to track down the culprit!

Is SM 2.26.1 on Windows (which it appears is what you're using), there
is a Print Preview option on the File menu of the main mail window,
and also the window when opening a single message.

However, there is no Print Preview option when composing an email,
even through the Page Setup and Print options are there. I'd never
noticed that inconsistency before, probably because I don't usually
print an email I'm half way through writing. If anything, I'd send it

opening any other message and there is a Print Preview option.

Same as dealing with View Source, Print Preview required you save a

I am curious about a couple things, first is seamonkey development still

The reason I ask is because I want to deploy seamonkey by default in a
distribution and heavily participate and promote its development.

Which leads me to my final question. Any and all donations I want to go
to the continued development of seamonkey not mozilla in general is
there any possible way to assure this?

Nope, that option is new and it asked me where to save it (e:\dl) which
it didn't. I wonder if I got this while updating ABP, SM from v2.31 to
v2.32 internally, etc.

Weird. I see a new one again, dated 1/30/2015 at 12:58 AM PST. At around
that time, I was doing a Google image search. Does SeaMonkey or
extensions automatically trigger this that I am not aware of?

Even more interesting. According to my very old updated Windows XP Pro
SP3's Explorer, this new .gz file was created on 1/29/2015 3:25:35 PM
PST (was surfing the web at around that time). 1/30/2015 12:58 AM PST
was its modified date on this .gz file.

Its internal memory-report.json has a weird date and time. 7-Zip v9.20
shows nothing, WinRAR v5.11 showed the current date and time that I
opened the .gz file, and WinZip v12.1 Pro showed 1/30/2015 12:58 AM PST.

cat prefs.js is not needed.

easier/shorter command is grep print_printer prefs.js.

actually, in 'prefs.js', contrary to your 'grep', you show
print.print and you have 2 print_printer.

user_pref(print.print_printer, );
user_pref(print_printer, );

tho you are posting using oos, you are posting *nix commands.

if you are actually debugging a *nix system, why not install CUPS
if not already installed, to set up printers. once CUPS is working,
firefox will/should pick up the printers.

CUPS is the standards-based, open source printing system developed
by Apple Inc. for Mac OS® X and other UNIX®-like operating systems.

you connect to CUPS via firefox using http://localhost:631/.

this is how i have my 4 printers set up and they work for both
firefox and thunderbird. if/when i need to change among printers,
i make change using CUPS.

with CUPS, in both firefox and thunderbird, i get;

} [geo@boxen bsyq4708.default]$ grep print_printer prefs.js
}  user_pref(print_printer, PostScript/default);
} [geo@boxen bsyq4708.default]$

*NOTE*
  1] i _do_not_show_ 'user_pref(print_printer, );'.
2] with end of line of ); it is indicating that you
do not have any printer configured because the printer
 shows within the .

speaking of which, does printing work under thunderbird?

Don't use and never had Thunderbird on this lappy, but do have CUPS due
to old printers that Apple doesn't support by default. :(

if not and you do have CUPS running and configured, it will block
printing if it is not set up correctly.

All printers worked in the past. Just no print preview option for
Firefox (other non-Mozilla programs have them). I just noticed SeaMonkey
v2.32 doesn't have a print preview option like in Windows as well so
crossposted to mozilla.support.seamonkey newsgroup as well. :(

For kicks, I renamed this file and started up Firefox to redo its
prefs.js file. Same results (no print preview). I also tried the
other Mac OS X v10.8.5 account (administrator instead of standard
level) and still saw the same problem.

again, what about CUPS?

Now what? Is there somewhere else to look? FYI, it doesn't matter
if the HP printer is slightly new (a few years old) or over a
decade old. :(

just look to see if you have CUPS set up. if you a printer that does
not have correct drivers for CUPS installed for any printer of any
make, type, or age, CUPS will not configure for it. correct drivers
must be installed and are available for over 99% of printers
available. should you have a make/type not listed, there is a 99.9%
probability that a similar driver will work.

so, click link http://localhost:631/ to see if you have CUPS and
configure it.

No kidding. My client refused to let go of his old printers (e.g.,
reliable HP LJ 6P printer with an USB and parallel cable adapter). :(
Anyways, the current printers are HP with this MBP: DJ 450 and Office
JetPro 8600.

from any CUPS page select Printers tab. on Printers page, click a
printer name.

on printers page, click [Maintenance], select Print Test Page.

after printing, select Print Self Test Page.

Perfect results and no problems.

if both print, open some other program, ie, an editor, create some
text lines, send to printer.

No problems from previous printings like Office, Safari, Chrome, etc. so
no need to print again.

if it prints, there is a problem with interface to firefox.

if you can not print from another program, there is a problem with
CUPS interfacing to programs.

i have not had any problems with CUPS from day one of use.

because this is appearing to be CUPS related, my best suggestion is
to log https://www.cups.org/ and join or login.

enter 'firefox' as search. check thru 'matches' to see if you find
anything. if not, post to 'Developers' list which should get faster
reply that other lists.

at one time, under fedora or mandrake, do not recall, there was an
option of selecting CUPS or postscript printing. i no longer see
such. if you have such selection of ability to use utility other
than CUPS, you might give it a try.

also, have you tried a web search? it is possible that there has been
such a problem with another flavor of *nix.

I'll try. I was hoping this was a known common issue. :(

one last thought, *default*. have you tried, or have, a setting for
a printer as the default?

Yes. Remember, I tried a brand new Mac OS X account and selecting
various printers.

because i use a switch box, i have to select which printer is the
default before i print. possible you need to do same.

i do wish i could have been more help, but my experience and knowledge
has never encountered problem similar to this.

hopefully another linux user will pick up on this thread and be able
to help you.

i also wish i could spend more time with you on this, but i have run
into a portioning problem that i need to correct so i can upgrade to
centos 7.

I wonder if OTHER Mac OS X users have this problem too. Wait, am I the
only Mac OS X Firefox user in here? It seems like only Windows and Linux
users have participated in my thread so far.

Weather dot com problem

2015-01-30 Thread G. Ross
Recently upgraded to 2.32 and now when I go to weather.com it loads
the forecast for the date I last visited. I played around with
clearing the cache and some other things and clicked reload and it
came up with the proper days forecast. But I have to do this every
time. What setting may have been changed with the upgrade?

What do you have for your setting:

Edit Preferences... Advanced Cache Compare the page in the
cache to the page on the network:

If you have never edited prefs.js, I strongly recommend that you save

Here's my new user.js file:

# Mozilla User Preferences

/* This file can be edited while Seamonkey is running; it will be copied into
pref.js at next restart.
 *

user_pref(print.printer_C2424_2x2.print_shrink_to_fit, true);
user_pref(print.printer_C2424_double-sided.print_shrink_to_fit, true);
user_pref(print.printer_C2424_plain.print_shrink_to_fit, true);
user_pref(print.printer_C2424_recycled.print_shrink_to_fit, true);
user_pref(print.printer_Samsung_CLP-550_Series.print_shrink_to_fit, true);
user_pref(print.printer_WorkCentre_C2424_PS.print_shrink_to_fit, true);

// default to shrink to fit

Yet -- it doesn't work; selecting say 50% changes true to false; restarting SM
doesn't reset it to true.

Do you see anything in my user.js file that's wrong?

I removed everything above the user_pref lines from user.js; now it works
fine.

Thanks everyone for teaching me something new!

OK, then can you give us the URL of a page where a Flash video doesn't

Are there some pages where Flash videos do play, or do all fail?

Are you using an ad blocker?

not initiating by me?
As i tried to get an url i could see another film there. May i send an

It is NOT your problem. The problem belongs to users of E-mail

They changed their e-mail clients?

NO, but they stopped complaining. And I can tell they do use the link
to visit my Web page.

Anyway it's very annoying to copy/paste a text when they can go on your
web site by a simple click.

If you send me a not-clickable url like this:

Ah-ha! That's it! You sir, are a geniusthank you. Now I just keep

Oops! Guess I spoke too soon. Now I have seen on another webpage the

Only 2 HTML errors, but 174 CSS errors. Garbage in = garbage out.

What David is trying to suggested is that, if the programmer does a poor
job (176 errors total), the User will probably get poor results!

And as such the problem is not with SeaMonkey, doesn't work for MSIE 11,
Firefox, or Chrome.
