Frustration with Seamonkey
I really want to use Seamonkey on a regular basis. One thing keeps me from doing this. In Thunderbird, when I press the A key while reading mail, the message is deleted from my message list, but placed in the All Mail folder in gmail. This is precisely what I want to do. But there is no such facility in Seamonkey. If it's based on the Mozilla code used in Thunderbird, why on earth can't I get this done? It seems like such an odd thing to have omitted. It doesn't even have the familar yellow bar that says if this page does not render correctly... I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it with the same behavior. I'm using it on SM 2.0.4 Confirmed. It doesn't work. Complain to the developer. I'm lucky that I had the old version saved and I was able to reinstall it. Anybody know where I can get the old version? I was looking for a way to read my gmail on the server and not download anything. I hate gmail's native interface. So use IMAP and choose leave mail on server until I move or delete it. To read it you have to download it, your choices are POP, IMAP, or HTML. But you don't have to keep it, allowing you to read from several machines without losing the mail. That's not where the problem is. There's too much handling to do -- especially when a thread has gone on for a while, and you have to figure out if you've read the entries in the thread or not. And so much monkeying around with the message list. Nah, I'll stay with the POP server and continue to download the posts to SM. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

FDVS wrote: I am hoping SM has an easy way to backup emails. Right now I drag a folder to the external HD and that is my backup. One click and done. With Netscape I had to drill down to the email folder and drag that overcouldn't always find it, or even access it later. How do you backup your SM emails? D Taylor The freeware program Mozbackup should do the job. I haven't tried it because I use the portable Seamonkey build. I can really just copy the changed files to my USB stick, which I use for backup purposes. Another freeware program, Karen's Replicator, does the backup task for me. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
