Anchors do not work in ModSecurity reference manual

2021-03-18 Thread mike
Hi,

in
https://github.com/SpiderLabs/ModSecurity/wiki/Reference-Manual-%28v2.x%29
anchors do not work with SeaMonkey, i.e. clicking on a link does not
jump to the corresponding section. It works with Firefox, though.

No, actually it seems to be object-assign
(https://github.com/sindresorhus/object-assign) accoding to
https://www.ardmediathek.de/main.940c64ac.js.LICENSE.txt.

Those methods seem to be defined like this:

var m = {
eq: function(e) {
if (void 0 === e) return this
var t = this.length
if (e > t - 1) return f([])
if (e < 0) {
var n = t + e
return f(n < 0 ? [] : [this[n]])
}
return f([this[e]])
},
...
}

And then probably made available through

Object.keys(m).forEach((function(e) {
f.fn[e] = m[e]
}))

But all this is way beyond my JS knowledge.

Looks like something with Javascript. If you disable Javascript or just
block https://www.ardmediathek.de/main.940c64ac.js, the page doesn't
disappear. You can then navigate to the program you want to see, then
re-enable Javascript and watch.

downloaded 2.49.5 for XP

2021-01-09 Thread Mike
Using WinXP on one of my many rigs and read that one of the best browsers left
was 2.49.3 - but after I used the posted link to the download saw some stuff I
didn't quite understand and looked for any "newer" versions that worked on
WinXP and that led me to the 2.49.5 page.
Did the install but weird stuff is showing but since I can't read it I can only
guess to what functions they mean - but otherwise it's seems to work. How do I
get rid of the computer-like language fonts used so it reads english completely?

Attached is a jpeg of what I am seeing.
Tried looking for info on your site, struck out. Will try googling also.

SM 2.53.6b1: Web Developer Tools mess up mail client

2021-01-01 Thread mike
Hi there and a Happy New Year!

I've installed SM 2.53.6 Beta 1 (Windows 10 x64) and encountered the
following reproducible behaviour:

1. Start a fresh SeaMonkey browser instance
2. Press F12 to open the Web Development Tools
3. Press Ctrl+2 to open the mail client

Result: The folder and message lists are empty.

This only seems to happen when the developer tools are open. Not sure if
this is new in 2.53.6.

I don't know mozillaes.org but if it's only the Spanish version of

Spanish as your preferred language which will make mozilla.org choose

SM 2.53.3: Some sites not displaying correctly

Hi,

with SM 2.53.3 (Win10 64) some sites are not displaying correctly, e.g:

https://www.mailbox.org/
-> Parts of the navigation are cut off on the right side. The page
content is too wide so that it needs a scroll bar.

https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/
-> Open any classified ad with an image, then click on the image. SM
only displays the bottom half of the image.

Tried with add-ons disabled to no avail. No problem with FF 60.

The only times I had this happen, the mouse was at the early stage of
failing.

If it is a wireless mouse, try changing the battery.  If it is a wired
mouse, try unplugging and then plugging it back again.  Also, if the
mouse can be opened, try cleaning inside.

Your mouse might still be in the early stages of dying.  If the problem
occurs again, replace the mouse.

I think I am on my third mouse with my current PC.  When the first one
died -- and it was truly dead -- I told my wife that I had a dead mouse.
  She screamed!  She though I had a dead rodent.

My second mouse did not last very long.  I forget what brand it was.

I noticed that my wife had her original PC mouse from about 2010.  It
was a wired Logitech (model SA-28A, no longer available).  I got a wired
Logitech in 2014 (model M100, still available and Logitech's least
expensive).  My wife still has her original 10-year-old mouse, and my
6-year-old mouse is still good.

Note that I too have a wired mouse.  I really do not want to deal with
batteries going dead, especially if I have no replacement battery on

Assuming that by "home page" you mean an HTML file that was displayed
when you clicked the "Home" button in the bookmarks toolbar just copy
that file to the new computer, open it with SeaMonkey, go to
Edit/Preferences/Browser and click the "Use current page" button. That

That's been around for some time -- it's definitely an annoyance, but
not a true problem.

For some reason, Google seems to not like the standard User Agent string
that shows "Seamonkey" in the name.

Mine is currently:

    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/52.0 SeaMonkey/2.49.5

I've found that with UA spoofing, if I remove the reference to
SeaMonkey, then the display issue with Google goes away.

Personally, I use the PrefBar extension to allow me to change my UA
string when I want it, although it's now hard to find that extension.

You can also hard-code that into your prefs.js file (via about:config),
by setting general.useragent.override.google.com to show a true Firefox
UA.  I had forgotten that I've done this on my own installation.  I
currently have:

    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/60.0

With this, only Google sees me showing Firefox without Seamonkey, and
the display in Google's search bar turns up correctly. I've just updated
my settings to show Firefox 68 (e.g., 68esr), rather than 60.

You can also specify spoofing globally by making your setting in
general.useragent.override (rather than specifically for google.com),
although I don't recommend that, as global spoofing will also turn up in
your email.  Although most people don't track the User-Agent header in
email, Seamonkey does put that info there, and if you're spoofing, it
does look odd to see email from a user that purports to be sending with
Firefox as an email client.

Re: Mozilla freezes computer

Sometimes there's mysteries!

First I COMPLETELY uninstalled all Mozilla stuff (Firefox and Seamonkey).

I then created a new user account in Windows and installed Firefox and
Seamonkey there.  All worked fine!

Then I went back to my regular User account and installed Firefox and
Seamonkey. Lo and behold ALL WORKS FINE (Smiling)!

Thanks for trying to help!

Contact user's ISP and ask for a password reset. Change it to
something your user can remember, and write it down in some secret
location for the next emergency.

Alternately, with proof of identity, they may be willing to disclose
the current password. Thank them and write it down in some secret
location for the next emergency.

Actually in most cases they cannot disclose the current password as
they don't have it, only a hash or other derivative of it.  So the
most you can expect is a reset of the password, and even for that you
will need to convince them you are the account owner.

Agreed. But it doesn't hurt to ask before falling back to a reset.

After creating a news account through clicking a news URL, the MailNews
account wizard may be broken (the account type will always be News). To
work around the problem, set the mail.server.serverX.valid pref (where X
is the internal number of the corresponding news account) to true in
about:config, or delete the invalid news account

If the current Profile does not show up at Tools-Switch Profiles, on

1) Export as CSV, LDIF, or other format that SeaMonkey will recognize,
with a name that doesn't match any of your existing address books or
list names. I don't recall what options Word has, but I know Excel can
do this; if need be, copy/paste the Word table into an Excel spreadsheet.

2) From the SeaMonkey address book, do Tools | Import, choose data type
Address books, follow the steps. You'll end up with a new address book
under the unique name you gave it.

You have the options along the way to specify import file format, match
field names to SM field names, etc.

Once it's there, you can move the addresses around by dragging and
dropping, create a mailing list, etc. as usual.

IT WORKED!!

What are your settings for deleting emails from the server?

You probably need to select the account, click 'View settings for this

I have no deleted emails coming back using my POP accounts, and the

What are your sever settings for when I delete a message? Unless
you've selected remove immediately, all you're doing is marking
messages for later deletion (e.g., if you
select move to trash, you also have to do an empty trash to purge
the messages; or if you select mark as deleted you also have to
compact the folder.) If they keep coming back, it might be a problem
with your IMAP server not getting the command, or not deleting things.
We run our own IMAP server, and I know that I sometimes have to kill
imapd to unwedge things. Also, SeaMonkey seems to get into funny
states now and again, particularly after a machine as woken from going

Rick Merrill wrote:

When you have
Leave messages on server-Until I delete them checked
here's what happens:

A deleted message goes to your trash and is deleted from your server
almost right away (depending on the server).

It will stay in your trash (so you can still retrieve it)until you
delete it from the trash. It's gone from the server permanently.

It also gets deleted from server if it goes to the junk folder.
This can either be automatic or manual.

Some don't like it deleted from server because they want it downloaded
to a second computer later. If your computer crashes, messages left in
server will be downloaded to a new computer.

Also, messages left on server can be gotten to by going to the servers
web site.

When your IMAP server is on a fast link, the most effective is probably
to turn off the local copying of all mail. It will be only on the
server. Remove all files without extension after you have done that.

Should I move the files before or after changing the Local Directory
Server Setting? I don't want to lose any new mail received if SeaMonkey
sees it's mail on the sever not local and deletes it from the server
thinking it was deleted previously on another client.

That is not how it works. Seamonkey sends a delete to the server when
you delete a message. The server marks the message for deletion, and
performs all the deletions when you issue an EXPUNGE command (as indicated
in the cleanup on exit and remove messages when it saves XXX settings).

Not being in the local files is no reason to delete mail on the server,
rather it is an indication to re-download that mail. When you remove
a file from the ImapMail directory, it will again be downloaded.

The only valuable file in ImapMail (that you should not delete) is
the messagefilter.dat file.
