Re: Help! Lost all passwords after upgradimng to Version 2.49.5
Ray Davison wrote: Frank-Rainer Grahl wrote: Your passwords are still in the profile 2.49.5 If you get the profiles out of the app, then there is then no such thing as a "2.49.5" profile. Yes there is because they are version specific. And there are reasons for a single profile for multiple app versions. One time, when looking for the date and time of a bug insertion I was using the same profile for twenty versions of SM, all loaded on the HDD side-by-side. Sorry you don't get it. This is not supported and breaks functionality. It now shows with 2.53.1 but was the case before. In every version migration routines run. They know how to fix backward stuff from a few previous versions but because time travel is not supported during code generation they know nothing about future changes. The guy said he lost his passwords when going back to 2.49.5. Not because of magic elves taking them away but because profile got upgraded and files deleted / changed. In this case you history is gone too and indexdb storage unusable. And going back some more versions and your cache gets corrupted. On going back to 2.35.1 you host permissions are reset and so on. It is ok to be stubborn as long as you are not wrong. In this case you are dead wrong. My files began life in Netscape, and I have never "lost" them. I have posted how to do this many times, maybe I should post it somewhere and just point to it. If in doubt don't upgrade blindly. Your passwords are still in the profile 2.49.5 is unable to read the new databases but also does not know about them. Before you go to 2.53.1 again delete cert8.db and key3.db from your profile. The new ones are cer9.db and key4.db. Do a full backup before just in case. Hopefully logins.json is still ok. The problem with Seession Manager is also in the release notes. It needs to be fixed by the author but can also be fixed up manually by editing a file inside the xpi archive (which is actually a zip file. I could try to restore the files from an old backup if i would know the file names and locations. If I migrate to 2.53.1 again, is there any chance to export the password collection, e.g. to FireFox ?
