I did work last summer when I migrated thunderbird emails to my mothers
new laptop.
I used it long after 2011 to migrate Seamonkey/FireFox/Thunderbird
profiles to new hardware.

Thanks for the replies. I will continue backing up by copying the profile along

I've done backups and recoveries with Seamonkey, although that was
several years ago, and I'm now to the point where there's been enough
development since the last release that I think there's growing danger
in trusting it. Even though I'm enthusiastic about the concept of
MozBackup (both the ability of selective content backups and restores,
as well as making it easier for non-technical users by not having to
depths of Windows user profile), I'm now discouraging use.

Because Thunderbird and Seamonkey are trailing-edge products, relative
to Firefox development, I'm inclined to believe that it's more likely to
see problems with Firefox. However, TB 52.0 is more likely to have
issues than TB 45.x (or 38.x) and Seamonkey 2.46 or later more than
2.40, or earlier versions.

I think the only way I would trust MozBackup in Seamonkey is by regular
testing of it by restoring a backup to a test profile, and then
thoroughly exercising that profile, to ensure that everything works. Do
this long before you need to do a backup recovery, and redo that
exercise every time you upgrade to a new version of Seamonkey.

Pretty much a matter of copying
%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Seamonkey\Profiles\.default\*.* to another
location. This method disambiguates any locally-specific settings (other
than the random salt string at the beginning of the profile name), and
works for both XP and Win 6.x (Vista and newer).

Where you copy it to is up to you. One option is to simply copy to
another location on your hard drive (say, your Documents library), where
it can then be picked up by your regular backups. Output to other
media, including USB thumb drive, external hard drive, LAN-connected
drive, or cloud all have various ways to be commended. If you want to,
you can zip-compress the output. If you're a Linux or Mac user, it's
easy enough to write a script that copies into a compressed .ZIP or tar
archive.

Unfortunately, there aren't any built-in backup utilities in any Mozilla
offering.

When I install a new version of SeaMonkey, I copy my profiles to a
folder named "save SM profiles".

Otherwise, I do complete backups of my system as described at
. After all, I have data
and software no less important than SeaMonkey. Why would I (or you)
backup only SeaMonkey?

Consider:
* Most state mandate that drivers have liability insurance.
* Employers are mandated to have worker's compensation insurance.
* If you live in a flood zone, flood insurance is mandatory.
* If your home has a mortgage, fire insurance is mandatory.

Why then is mandatory health insurance so bad??

Just copy the profile when SM is not running nor in the taskmanager
upon another drive(external or internal)/directory or on an usb stick.
And you will see how big is the copy.
I do that - no so often and
This is what I do when I upgrade SM:
Copy: SeaMonkey directory from C:\Users\RZ\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\
into: C:\ALLDATA\Backup-SM-profile\2.40\
2.66 GB for the "Seamonkey" directory

Thank you. That is what I did

I thought SM had a backup function incorporated into it.
