Thanks for that, Phil, I hadn't noticed that. I set the Top N to 10
and ver 2.33 was still not showing ... bit of a worry!! :-(

2.33 shows up when you set Top N to 15. When you do, you see that it's
been more active than any other individual version for about the last
week. Probably not quite more active than all other versions put
together, but it doesn't look far off. Hence my doubts as to how the
rankings for the Top N are calculated!

Mark.

IF the Top picks are cumulative then 2.33 will not be top because it hasn't been out
long enough, and 2.26 will probably remain at the top because it was the stalled
version, lasting for 3 entire release periods when 2.27 and 2.28 were skipped.

but, one would then hope that 2.29, 2.30, 2.31 and 2.32, which have each
had their full six weeks, would then have had heaps of installs!

Yeap, you're right, it does show up in the top 15.

One would think the graph would show the most recent version, then the
next best two, and then the rest, unless, of course, no-one is
downloading the most recent version.

Humm, looking at the SeaMonkey ADI vs Locale/Country, Australia even
makes it into the top 15 Yeah us!!

You need to learn how to navigate the site. Click the right facing arrow
above the text 1 of 11. SeaMonkey is #7 of 11.

I HATE sites like that forcing you to click on the next slide. I can
never get all slides to show and even on a fast browser on a fast
internet connection slides like that load EXTREMELY slowly. On this
one, I could not get past slide 5 ...6 just forever says connecting and
never loads.

Sorry, to hear so many people have these problems that I never see. I
must be blessed.

Then again, I only have one device using my connection, and at times run
torrents, download from Usenet, stream music and browse without a problem.

I've seen somewhere else ADI standing for Active Daily Installations.
This looks like it explains it:

  https://wiki.mozilla.org/ADI
Basically it's the number of running copies of SeaMonkey seen on each
day, based on the browser checking for updates to the blocklist. It
won't be 100% accurate, since some people disable that check, or can't
connect to the server, but should give a good indication of variations
in usage over time. Probably a better indication than counting
downloads, since some people will download something and never install,
or rarely use, it.

It looks to me like a stacked chart, so the width of each coloured band
(not the top of it) indicates the count. You can get the actual counts
by hovering over the chart. e.g. on 20 March (the latest available date)
there were:

- 4,363 active installs of 2.26
- 3,855 active installs of 2.30
- 102,713 active installs of other versions

The Top N dropdown to the right allows you to choose to see figures
broken out for more versions. I'm not quite sure how they determine the
top N versions, as setting it to 15 reveals that on 20 March there were:

- 53,071 active installs of 2.33
- 25,497 active installs of 2.32
- 4,900 active installs of 2.31
All higher (2.32 and 2.33 much higher) than 2.26 and 2.30 on that most
recent count. Even integrated over the period shown on the graph (almost
3 months), 2.32 looks far more active than 2.26 or 2.30, so I'm not sure
why those versions appear as the top 2.

Thank you, Mark, I now understand. One wonders why they don't separate

There are several picklists and sliders on the right where you can
change how many versions are shown for what time period, etc.

You need to learn how to navigate the site. Click the right facing
arrow above the text 1 of 11. SeaMonkey is #7 of 11.

Item # 7

SeaMonkey

Underpinnings: Gecko
Focus: old-school all-in-one Internet suite
SeaMonkey has been around for nearly ten years, and it’s still going strong—but
SeaMonkey is an ideal choice only for hardcore web users who want almost
everything you could possibly think of in one package.
SeaMonkey integrates a browser, an email client, a RSS and newsgroup client, an
HTML editor, and an IRC client. The only thing missing from this suite is the
ability to download torrents… but you can get that as an add-on.
