WE9.4 becomes corrupt and control alt w does not work

2016-04-19 Thread Manny via Talk

Hi,
I was reading an excel file, and I open the windows 7 calculator.
I added a dozen numbers and when I came back to the excel file, WE9.4
would not read. I control alt w and nothing happened. I ran my batch
file to kill WE9.4 and started WE9.4 and it did read the file, but
control alt w was still not functioning which, for me, means WE9.4 is
still corrupt.

Does anyone know what is going on?
If I am starting WE9.4, why is it still corrupt?
I find that when WE9.4 is not behaving properly, and a restart is not
responding to control alt w, I reboot the computer because that's the
only fix.
Is this an isolated incident, or you getting other users complaining
about this problem?

Lastly, is their a fix?
Many thanks,
Manny

Re: How to copy large Blocks of Text?

2016-04-19 Thread Neville via Talk

Hi,

An easy method of copying large blocks of text when not using browse
mode is to firstly download the WE app, "Select Text." When installed,
move to the beginning of the text, press the asigned key, move to the
end and press shift assigned key. This will highlight the text block
which will allow the text to be copied, deleted etc.

As it is quite a while since installing the app,I can't remember what
the default key is but mine is currently set to F9. The app is
brilliant and would not like to be without it.

Would someone remind me what commands are used to start Highlighting and then

I tried someone else's suggestion of using F8. When I hit that, it says
Extended Selection on. I can see that as I arrow down or page down, the text

it to another document. Maybe it was the test document I was using to play
with this, but I was having some silence or delay issues when trying to hear
where my cursor was. Hopefully the method will be more useful to you.

Just to note, I have also combine the shift key with page down to grab larger
blocks of text.

Re: two questions

2016-04-19 Thread Tom Kingston via Talk

Linette,

To center text in Jarte you can select it and hit Control-E. It's the
same as Alt-O Format, P Paragraph, Center paragraph.
It's best to do it after the fact. For example, if I type one line of
text in a new document, select it, and center it, all remaining text I
add is centered unless I remember to go back into Format, Paragraph, and
uncheck Center paragraph.

For an audible notification of completed downloads in IE 11 you'll need
the IE Enhance app. It has options in the App menu when IE is open for
sounds and automatic reading of the notification bar, which can be
manually read with Insert-N and moved to with Alt-N. I thought it was
installed by default. but if not here's a link to the download page.

https://www.gwmicro.com/App_Central/Apps/App_Details/?scriptid=1316

If you're using Firefox or Chrome I can't remember if either have an
audible notification. I install Firefox only as an alternative and
haven't installed it yet on my new system. And I've never used Chrome.

RE: How to copy large Blocks of Text?

2016-04-19 Thread Smith, Veronica via Talk
However if you are copying an HTML document, press F10 and the highlighter will
begin, arrow down to your stopping point. Hit F10 again and another menu will
open, it will say "copy text." Enter, then move to where you want it. Control
V will paste it.

In Word, I typically use Shift and down arrow, selecting each line of text that
I want to copy. Win Eyes will read each line as I select it.

Phantom Non-existant Text getting read with 9.4

2016-04-19 Thread Dave via Talk
Hello again,

I am working on creating a Set File for a program called "the Word".

Little by little I am gaining on getting this program to at least work a
little bit with Window Eyes.

However, I keep getting Text that was on the Screen in the past, say
like a Pop Up Message, and I click OK, and the message goes away.

However, If I attempt to then read a line of text by pressing CTRL and
the Number Pad 5 key, A line from the previous Pop Up Window is read,
and then the line is read.

Now this message is not on the screen. But it gets read along with the
line I have asked to be read.

If I press the Escape Key, in this program it will refresh the screen.
After pressing the ESC key, I can read the line, and there is no Phantom
text getting read.

I am working with a fairly fast system, so am not sure why I would need
to refresh all the time.

Is there a Refresh command in WE 9.4, that I can add to my Set file, so
when I want to read a Line, the screen is refreshed first, and then the
line is read?

Thanks for any help with this. I am out of ideas.

Grumpy Dave

Re: Becky not reading correctly 9.4

2016-04-19 Thread Mike Rogers via Talk
Here's the two things to change in Becky, if you haven't don so.

Becky works very well but you need to change two settings. In the Tools,
General setup dialog on the Message View tab, uncheck the "Control four-way
button with arrow keys" check box and the cursor will work when you are reading
messages. In the Editor tab in the same dialog, uncheck the Display line
pointer option which, if checked, can cover up the first character.

Hi.
I use Becky and don't have that problem. I can read this reply. You might try
arrowing to the message window, hit insert R, and arrow to the edit line and
check it. That's supposed to take care of some problems. I'm fairly computer
dumb, so don't know why. Hope this helps.

Becky not reading correctly 9.4

2016-04-19 Thread Dave via Talk
Hello,

I was installing and setting up Becky, the Email program, and everything
is working, but one thing.

If I write an Email from scratch, like this one that I am writing now, I
can read everything I write. I can go back and re read my email, make
corrections etc.

However, if I am Replying to someone elses email, then I can not go back
and read anything I have written.

I have the settings in Becky as what is advised by the Knowledge base
article speaking of the few settings needed to make Becky speak better.

but, why I can read what I write from scratch and not when I reply, I am
guessing has something to do with the type of text that was used in the
Email I am attempting to write my reply. HTML instead of Plain Text?
This is a Guess on my part, so I might be completely wrong with my guess.

Anyone have a fix for the situation I find myself?

Thanks for any help,

Grumpy Dave

Hi,
If you purchase the premium voices they are tied to a serial number.
So if you purchased Vocalizer for a retail serial number they won't work for

That's good to know. The laptop I'm going to be getting soon has Win10 on it
and I'll need to use the office version of WE until I can afford to purchase
a new SMA. The thought of having to listen to those horrible ESpeak voices
all day every day had me cringing in dread. Granted I did purchase the
Vocalizer voices but I don't recall if those work with the Office version.
