Re: Braille display stuff

2017-01-26 Thread Reg Webb via Talk
Vaughan, I agree with you completely.
I have always believed that the corporate model has no place in the
access technology field, since it puts profit above humanity. This has
nothing to do with paying people who know what they're talking about a
proper rate for their knowledge and commitment, it's the other layers of
hangers-on who are the problem. If there's a choice between first class
support and the amount of this year's dividend, the former will be
sacrificed to the latter.

My guess is that you are not virtualizing your messages. You can toggle this
on by using Alt + Shift + V when focused on the inbox. Alternatively, if you
go to the WE control panel and open the apps menu, the arrow down to the
Outlook Enhance app, you should be able to check if the Message Virtualization
Enabled option is checked.

check that the windows live mail app is installed and running. its the app that
announces the status. not the live mail set files.

try reinstalling the wlm package. it includes both the set files and the app.
also when you have to reload w e while wlm is running the status will not be
spoken until you reload wlm too.

Hey Mike and Dave, and anyone else...

Thanks for the quick replies. This is horrible - Window eyes might be
no more? I searched January list archieves and found nothing so far.
It seems the market having two quality screen readers would be
difficult, just wish it was JAWS leaving.

I think I will have to learn to use NVDA.

I did update to 9.5.4 on my 10 laptop and win 7 machine. Hopefully they
will have a disk available for anyone who doesn't get updated in time or
for folks that purchase new computers.

I wonder if W-e is no more if users will be given JAWS subscriptions. I
prefer window eyes, and I just recently purchased another SMA.Everybody
gone - Jeremy Curry too? this is really sad and depressing - what a way
to start the year.

Thanks,

Re: extended dictionary about to quit

2017-01-26 Thread David via Talk
Neville,
and all other users of the Extended Dictionary.

The Capture Spoken Phrases app, is part of the Extended Dictionary
package. Yet it is NOT an essential part of the package. As a matter of
fact, the Extended Dictionary itself, could well run without this part
being operative.

As has been the case since the very first release of the package, every
version has its expiration date. And please, I have dealt with that part
of it a number of times before. This is the way the Extended Dictionary
has been developed, and will not be changed. So please abstain from
further arguing on the matter.

Unfortunately, a bug has sneaked into the package release of version
0.69.5 - the latest version - which all current users will be running.
The Capture Spoken Phrases app, has got a too short expiration date
stamp. I will attempt to have a fix for this within this weekend, at the
latest very early next week. I have rechecked the case prior to writing
this, and can confirm that the Extended Dictionary itself, will still
work for a good long time. In other words, should your Capture Spoken
Phrases app stop working, due to expiration, it only means that this
extra feature of the package will be unavailable.
For your information, this is the app that by default will be invoked,
when hitting Alt-Insert-C, and which will let you see the exact phrase
sent to the speech synthesizer.

To reassure you all, the extended Dictiona in all its main
functionality, will still be working for a considerable time. I do
appologize for the bug of the Capture Spoken Phrase app, and will
attempt a quick remedy. You will all be notified when the fix is
available for download. Should you want it faster, contact me off-list,
and I will send you the updated file.

For your info, if the extended Dictionary app itself was about to
expire, you would have received a dedicated message, clearly stating
that it is the Extended Dictionary that is closing in on expiration. In
this case, the message you get, is that it concerns the Capture spoken
Phrases.

Neville, thanks for pointing out the bug. May I ask that people who
experience clear bugs in the package, please will contact me directly.

My sincere apologies for any inconveniences caused.

extended dictionary about to quit

2017-01-26 Thread Neville via Talk

Hi,
After starting WE, a message is displayed, "Important message from
Capture spoken phrases, 5 days left of your licence".

This simply means that the extended dictionary app has just 5 days
before it quits.

Any other extended dictionary users suffering from the same prolem.

I just hope the author remedies the problem before the primary
dictionary quits.

Neville.
