jaws feedback.

2017-07-17 Thread Sue J. Ward via Talk
Hello. I was wondering is there a way to email the people who update
jaws would like to be able to see a feature where if you are in a list
box or say the desk top you hear what you have selected along with the
number of the items you are on, say one of 20 selected then when you
arrow up or down in the list box or the desk top of items you would hear
16 of 20 selected or unselected. Just thought I would give an example.
Another feature would like to hear a sound with the progress bars just
like in window eyes. So how would I contact them about what I want in
Jaws? Who would I email? So far the screen reader is pretty good but for
right now am sticking to window eyes. Thank you.

jaws authorizations for home addition.

2017-06-21 Thread Sue J. Ward via Talk
Hello. I was wondering about the jaws licenses. If I want to get the
home addition of jaws how many computers can I put jaws on to and will I
get a different authorization number for each one? I have not migrated
yet, but am going to on July 7 since for me I am all up to date with
everything on the Window eyes side. I tried looking it up but could not
find anything about the authorization numbers or how many computers can
I put the home addition on. As far as the pro side am not going to get
it cause I don't work in a commercial environment. So if anyone has any
info please email me. Thank you.

window eyes shut down and start up sounds how to save those.

2017-05-19 Thread Sue J. Ward via Talk
Hello. Since I don't know if Jaws does have a start up and shut down
sound how do I save the window eyes shut down and start up sounds so I
maybe could use them with jaws? I like those, cause if I need to use
NVDA for something, then after am done with using NVDA I would have to
exit NVDA then start up jaws again I want to at least save a sound or
something so I can tell what is going on whenever I load or unload jaws.
I have not migrated to jaws as of yet, but it sounds easy and different
at the same time. Hope there will be more podcasts out for us window
eyes users so we can get used to jaws.

itunes really needs fixing to work with window eyes.

2017-04-03 Thread Sue J. Ward via Talk
Hello. has anyone including the AI Squared staff really looked at the
latest version of iTunes lately? I did try the latest version and it
freezes up window eyes. I don't know why. I think in the program files
there are a lot more stuff including stuff about java so someone should
really look at this. I know the app has not been updated in a while. For
now am on an old version 12.5.5. The next version up 12.6.100 could use
fixing or at least if someone could take a look at it on their machine.
I am on a windows7 machine. I don't get it why in version 12.5.5 it
works great with no problems but in 12.6.100 it freezes and locks up my
computer. I even emailed Apple accessibility to let them know what I am
experiencing and we are talking back and forth, but so far nothing that
will resolve anything. I hope the next update will fix those issues.

itunes version 12.6 is a mess.

2017-03-23 Thread Sue J. Ward via Talk
Hello. I was wondering have any of you downloaded the latest version of
iTunes which is 12.6.0.95. I updated it and when I launched it window
eyes read it the tree view list of items then seems like iTunes froze up
and everything stopped. I even tried with NVDA same thing happened plus
when I looked in the program files the program had several things about
web kit and java, am thinking why is this happening? Even ending the
process was a struggle. So I had to revert back to version 12.5.5 which
came out in December of 2016. When I reverted back to the old version I
again looked in the program files and did not see anything about web kit
or java stuff so why the change in the newer version? So should I email
Apple and let them know what I am experiencing? By the way am running
windows 7. Plus since I had to revert back to the old version had to
remove everything am getting my list of radio stations and re
downloading the apps. Just thought I would ask on the list.

copy trans with window eyes

2016-11-14 Thread Sue J. Ward via Talk
Hello, am trying to get iTunes to sync my apps still not having luck

work with screen readers cause ever since 12.5.1 and up it is impossible
to manage any apps. Have any of you heard of a program called copy
trans? It seemed to work with NVDA have not worked with it in window

anyone using this program to manage their apps and music instead of
going through iTunes? Please email me with any suggestions as to how you

a lag in itunes with window eyes when looking at apps on itouch

2015-10-28 Thread Sue J Ward via Talk
Hello. I noticed when I was iniTunes with my itouch hooked up to my
PC, there is a bit of a lag when I am using window eyes and tabbing
around I do get to the iPod button I hit the space bar on it and when I
do tab around with in that section of iTunes there is a slow response it
takes me a while to look at the areas and when I get to the tree view I
hit down arrow to go on the apps screen, and after that I have to tab
around to go through all of my apps I have on my ituch some of the apps
are read and other ones are not read out as far as the names. and I have
to tab around to get the file sharing section again really slow to get
to this part, plus when there is a list box looking at the documents
when I am in the file sharing section have to arrow down to hear the
names of the documents it is really slow. I did check my screen
resolution and it is set to the highest point. When I unplug my iPod
iTunes is fine as far as the normal response. So is there a fix to this?
Hope there can be one when the next update comes out.

viewing purchase history in itunes with window eyes.

2015-10-26 Thread Sue J Ward via Talk
Hello. I was wondering when I do check out the purchase history in
iTunes with windoweyes, there is a page that comes up and it shows a
bunch of things and when I do arrow down to the most recent box, it is a
combo one, and it shows not all of my purchases, since I do hit enter
the tone for speech for browse mode is turned off, am thinking I might
see all of my purchases, but I do not. I even use the alt down arrow
combo thinking it might expand the most recent purchases since I would
like to see the list of my apps but it does not. The only thing am
getting is either most recent or name with in the combo box. I also use
the tab and or shift tab to see if any of them do show up so far only
one. However when I do use NVDA it works differently so when I do hit
enter on the most recent combo box I do see all of my purchased stuff by
using the tab or the down arrow keys cause it is saying group. I am
wondering how do you get all of my stuff to show up using window eyes?

upgrading to windows 10 microsoft update.

2015-10-05 Thread Sue J Ward via Talk
Hello. I thought I was upgrading to windows 10 cause I did see in the
update list the upgrade to windows 10 home since I do have windows7 home
premium, so I did check the box and all of the updates seemed to be
installing, then after that was all done the computer did restart then
the same thing happened all over again where I had to check the box to
upgrade and I did accept the agreement, thought the screen would come up
to choose what to keep and stuff like that what I heard on the tutorial.
After that was all done it did restart so I did hear the windows 7 sound
along with window eyes. Then after that was all done decided to shut all
of that down for now. Has anyone experienced this? What should I do?
Should I just download the media Creation tool to get the process complete?

Re: Sudden loss of speech

I would recommend changing the Read-to-end hotkey to something other
than ctrl-shift-R, so there is no possibility of it conflicting with
the Reply-to-all function in e-mail programs. I use Scroll-lock on my
setups. On this laptop, I have to hit Function-Insert to get a
scroll-lock keystroke, but I'm used to that after 5 years. I would
have to use some other substitute if I worked a lot more with
spreadsheets, since you are locked onto one cell if scroll-lock is on
when you open the spreadsheet.

Subject: Sudden loss of speech

Hi. I am sending this message to the list in case anyone else has run
into

this problem. I am not complaining; I am merely explaining what happened
while I was going through my e-mail.

I have two Dell computers and they're both running Windows 10 and
Window-eyes 9.2.

Earlier this morning, I was checking my e-mail on my Dell Xps-501 laptop.
After I opened the third e-mail in Outlook 2013 and started reading it
using

ctrl-shift-r, speech suddenly stopped. I pressed the ctrl-alt-w hotkey
three times to launch Window-eyes 9.2. The startup sound would play, but
speech would not come up. I rebooted the machine hoping for an error
report

and there wasn't one.

Having said all of this, this brings me to ask these questions. How can
speech suddenly stop and not generate an error report? If no error
report

is generated for Ai Squared engineers to look at, how can the problem of
sudden loss of speech be tracked down? If Ai Squared can find a way to
fix

this problem, I'm all ears, smile.

This doesn't happen often, so I must admit I never thought I'd be one of
those list members mentioning this issue. I guess this is one of those
moments where there's a first time for everything, smile. My primary
computer is a Dell Xps-8500 desktop running Outlook 2013 as well.

That is excellent. So when do you use narrator? On the computer that I
will be upgrading is a Dell kind of hard to tell when it restarts cause
it does not have a fan where it starts up it sounds fast, but when
everything loads up it balances itself out which is my HP machine. The
computer that I am on right now is an HP with windows 7 on it, my second
one is a Dell, which also has windows7 I mainly use that as an
entertainment machine where I have a few games and a few music tracks. I
still do have a lot of my stuff on cds and tapes.Sometime when I do get

I know that will take sometime.

Hello. I am thinking of upgrading to windows 10 using window eyes and the
tutorials have been excellent. Was wondering how many of you had success in
upgrading? I do have window eyes 9.2 on that machine along with that a CD
copy should be easy. Or should I wait til Christmas time?

2015-09-22 Thread Sue J Ward via Talk
Thanks for explaining about all football. I did listen to a game last
night on freefootballradio.com and it did work had to listen to the
other team's broadcast but the bottom line is did not have to spend any
money and don't have to worry about a tv. My husband and I own several
tvs and we are chord cutters since having the antennas in the windows we
get a lot of channels from San Diego and Los Angeles. San Diego which is
where we live two blocks away from the beach is really nice once in a
while we can pick up NBC, for me I would rather listen to the local
radio and or get a broadcast from freefootballradio.com. Hey whatever works.

broadcast on TV, and I am one who still owns TV sets, so I have't had to
resort to other means yet. I have used All Football and Pro Football
Radio for years, and can generally find something that I can listen to.
Sometimes it may be the opposition feed, but at least I can hear the
game. I prefer an app to a web site, because my easy chair is a lot more
comfortable than my computer chair.

upgrading and logging in to windows 10.

2015-09-22 Thread Sue J Ward via Talk
Hello. I was wondering when I upgrade to windows 10 would I have to
provide a password since I really don't use that feature cause am the
only one on the machine. I am on windows 7 right now when I did set
this up back in April of 2014 I did provide a password and after I made
some adjustments I got rid of the password, so when I do upgrade will I
have to provide a new one? Is there an option to create a password cause
I really don't want to log in all of the time, I just want the computer
to load up like it is right now. I just find if I am the only one on the
machine to log in every time quite annoying. Thanks for the help.

I don't see being forced unless you need to. You may decide to change when
there's hardware that only the new OS can use. You might decide to switch
when a program which requires the OS comes out. Otherwise, as long as your
hardware works and your software doesn't need upgrading and you can keep the
system protected, there's no real reason to move.

Basically, here's the deal. I have Thunderbird completely the way I now like
it. I even had my mom drag the e-mail list headers with the mouse for me into
the order I desire. Plus, I have my gmail configured, a few mail filters set,
etc. I want to install Thunderbird on my desktop machine, but I don't want to
have to go through all the setup configuration again, as frankly, I'm not
totally sure I could totally remember what all I changed. Plus, I don't want
to have to get my mom again to drag my message list headers around for me, etc.
So, how can I export all of my settings, so that when installing to my
desktop, I don't have to go through all that crap again.

Chris.

Windows 10 and the new Browser supposedly gives Microsoft much more feed
back as to how you use the computer, where you go on the web, what you
do when you are there, and what you buy. I imagine anything written in
MS Office, whether it be a Spread Sheet, or a Document, is probably
available to those who wish to view the contents of these files.

If you own a Small business, you might wish to keep some things of your
business privet. do you really want a flood of Bankruptcy lawyers
sending you their Electronic Business Cards, letting you know, their
Services are available? All because someone was able to peek at your
Quick Book files?

or maybe you were stupid enough to buy some Sex Toy On Line, and now an
ad pops up when your best friend, who is a bad Gossiper, is borrowing
your lap top to do some work of his own.

Or maybe your friend writes a fiery letter off to a Politician, but
because it was written on your machine, those watchers think you are the
one who wrote the nasty letter, and not your friend.

We are edging more and more into a culture where everyone has to be
careful about what they say, and to who you say it. Even though some
much is said about being Tolerant, I find today there is less and less
tolerance.

when using your computer, always, and I do mean, always have the
understanding, that nothing on it, and anything you do on it, could be
seen by someone else. big Brother is watching, and has been watching,
and probably lots of Little Brothers too.

If you want real privacy, but still want to use the computer, guess you
will need to have two systems. One that is hooked up to the internet,
and another that is not, and never will be.

We have seen some file repository sites wrap Window-eyes for Office in their

I always tell people not to google Window-eyes for office but to go directly

Sue,
I have not used FileHippo but I believe it's a repository or collection of
various computer programs. If that's what it is I want to warn you about
being cautious when using sites like this. From what I'm reading, many of
these file collections are now bundling extra software in the installers
which, while not technically a virus, is often considered malware as it can
add toolbars and other unwanted items to your browser.
When I want to get an update for a particular program, I try and go to the
Web site of the developer of the software and download directly from that
site. As an example, if I want to download a demo copy of Window-Eyes onto a
computer I'd make sure that I download it from AISquared's official Web
site, even if a site like Download.com or FileHippo.com claims that they
have a demo of the latest version.
Even while doing that, some developers (not AI Squared) can add this sort of
unwanted software in their installers. I'm not saying you shouldn't do this
or that you shouldn't download from file repositories but please be
cautious.
Personally, I'd avoid those sites like the plague.
Here's a link to a HowtoGeek article talking about the top file repositories
and how they try to force malware on you, including FileHippo. Some of the
language contained in this article is a bit crass and it's not how I'd
choose to write this piece but the information is still valuable.

Hello. I recently did access the website www.siriusxm.com with window
eyes and tried to listen to a couple of streams through the web
interface, used internet explorer for this had to turn off the pop up
blocker and enabled the flash player, a few times it would work and
other times window eyes would just stop talking when I tabbed around
with either browse mode on or off it would read the buttons and I would
hit the enter key some stuff would load and start playing other times it
would get stuck and lock up internet explorer. I even tried firefox and
Google chrome no such luck there, is there a way around this cause have
been trying all day could only get a couple of streams to work other
then that the web page would not load. It seems like they did not fix
the web interface since the last time I used it was in 2011. If that
does not work are there other alternatives to this service? I can't
believe they are a company totally on all audio content you would figure
they would have a better way of navigating the webpage the interface is
just not workable at all with screen readers. I still have the radio, do
not want to dig that out would rather have the web way cause it is
better I don't knowwhat design they have but someone has to put a bug in
their ear that the current way they have it does not work with screen
readers if they could fix it then I might resubscribe, but for now I am
going to have to switch to something else. Has anyone else had this
happen?

worth pursuing. Window-Eyes is certainly working better with imbedded media

read the buttons and I would hit the enter key some stuff would load and start

tried firefox and Google chrome no such luck there, is there a way around this
cause have been trying all day could only get a couple of streams to work other
then that the web page would not load. It seems like they did not fix the web

there other alternatives to this service? I can't believe they are a company
totally on all audio content you would figure they would have a better way of
navigating the webpage the interface is just not workable at all with screen

the web way cause it is better I don't knowwhat design they have but someone
has to put a bug in their ear that the current way they have it does not work

I am going to have to switch to something else. Has anyone else had this happen?

Re: How to install plug in in FireFox

2015-07-05 Thread Sue J Ward via Talk
Hello the plug in you mentioned I installed myself in Firefox which I
did not know it was out there. What I did was went to Mozilla.com and
use the heading navigation and went to the add ons link and looked for
the search box by using the arrow keys or the tab key and found the
search box typed in the terms and found the add on, and the link said
add to fire fox, then used the tab key to find the add to fire fox
button and once I found it hit enter on it and installed it. There is a
restart button found that that and restarted fire fox and things are
working great.

To make matters worse, the read active window hotkey, ctrl-
shift-w, reads the things that are on the firefox toolbar that
cannot be accessed with the mouse keys. So I can see that I
have a button for Pocket that's built into ff 38, but have no
way of getting to it. Or am I wrong about that and just don't
know how to do it? But I think that's frustrating, to see the
toolbar options and not be able to get to them. On that same
note, I can't customize the toolbar via the customize option on
the view menu. Is this truefor others as well?

Charlie, in just a few words, the mouse keys wont work, and
wont work until the programmers of Mozilla make them work.
I just started using Thunderbird, the email client, and the same
goes for that as well. I can't explain why, other than to say that
a so called improvement in the applications technology has
rendered those keys useless to us, but improves the email

Re: Refresh my memory on upgrade process

2015-06-25 Thread Sue J Ward via Talk
Hello. I recently had to reinstall everything since I made a mistake
installing the mobile version and had to start from scratch had to go
from 8.0 to 9.1, basically uninstalled window eyes from the programs and
features and once that was done, I took the CD from 8.0 installed Window
Eyes, then after that was all done, took the 9.0 CD, and choose to
explore the files through windows explorer and hit enter on upgrade and
it guided me through that no problem, then downloaded 9.1 and had to
update the apps, took a lot of work but it is well worth it.

Is this the approach or should I be able to just download the 9.1 file and do a

I find that the date pickers are the most challenging on airline and hotel
sites. Since I have a little vision, I can't fairly answer which sites work
best, since I sometimes am able to leverage my bit of vision, but not
always. I have used Orbitx for price shopping, but tend to go to the
airlines direct site to see if the rates are better. With some airlines,
like Frontier, you get better prices and benefits by booking on their
website, but I've had issues. I have also found it helpful to call the
airlines. If you tell them you are blind and are having difficulty with
their site, they will often waive the fee for booking at telephone
reservation. I've definitely used this with Frontier, although not since it
became a bare bones airline. I also recall being really, really impressed
with the service I got calling the Southwest agents, but I do not recall if
she was able to give me the web only rates on the phone or whether I was
able to get my husband to help me book the
flight online and the representative just helped me do some other changes.

I was trying to use the Choice Hotels site on Friday to book a hotel. While
the interface seems really simple, I found I was unable to get the date
selection to work and could not type in the date. I think I had better luck
with Hotels.com. One thing to note about Hotels.com that I just learned is
that the fine print says your reservation is guaranteed, but not your room
type. One customer was complaining that she ended up with a smoking room
and another said she'd asked for 2 queen beds and got one king instead.
That concerned me, which is why I tried to go book the hotel directly and
was taken to the Choice hotels site. Today I'm calling the hotel directly
to see if I can get the same rate over the phone that I saw on hotels.com.

seem to find whenever I type inthe stuff in the edit boxes, when I either
tab or shift tab it jumps around the page a lot and does not keep the info
that I type in the boxes and even with the enhance auto load app it still
does not help. In fact I tried the mobile site, I guess it is a blank page.
Is there a way around this? Was wondering what are the best travel sites to
use with window eyes as of today, cause I know access world did a segment on
that which I guess it was at least ten years ago, so any update info would
be excellent. You figure by now all of the stuff would all be fixed up so it
would be working with window eyes. I even took the screen reader survey hope
that it could be fixed up so working with the web would be even better now.
I guess it is a wo rking progress. So any info would be excellent. Thank

Re: Captcha reader for firefox

2015-06-19 Thread Sue J Ward via Talk
Yes, I think it works great, the only thing is if you want to have a
new yahoo email address or sign up for a new account webvisum can not
pick up the image for the captcha cause nothing is shown on the web page
which is annoying, you still have to call a number to talk to some one
who will help you with signing up. I have not done that in quite a long
time since I do have one yahoo account and accessing the email on the
web is not that good as far as reading and writing, but I do have it set
up on another machine using Thunderbird and that way works good.

Re: thunderbird issues

2015-06-15 Thread Sue J Ward via Talk
No, I don't know what your situation is Juno my isp somehow came up
with I had to change my password, or maybe it was Thunderbird, anyway,
the same thing happened to me last week, so I had to back up everything
good thing I do have the import export tools add on installed so I
backed up all of the messages that were in my in box, and had to
uninstall it, then reinstall it, had to set up everything all over again
seems like things are working here fine now. I did read up on some stuff
of Thunderbird, you want to back up your profile regularly, and keep the
inbox folder, the junk folder, and the trash folder all empty, and also
do a disk defrag. Now that I do back up my stuff I put all of the
messages I want to read in the archives folder and back that up at least
once a week. Also another great tool is moz backup. Maybe do a Google
search on Thunderbird keeping it in good shape plus look for those
tools, hope that stuff will help you out.

So how can you now reserve your free copy of Windows 10?
First, you must be running Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or Windows 8.1, and
you must have installed a March the
Windows update dubbed KB3035583
, according to
blog site VentureBeat
. That update will already be on your PC as long as you have Automated
Updates enabled.
Peek at your Windows system tray in the lower right corner, and you
should see a new icon displaying the Windows logo. Hover over it, and
the popup messages says: Get Windows 10.
Click that icon, and up pops a window that explains how the free upgrade
works. Once it's available, Windows 10 will automatically download onto
your PC. You'll receive a notification after the download is complete so
that you can choose an appropriate time to install it.
You can scroll through the various screens of the Get Windows 10 window
to read more about the new OS.
When you're done, simply click the button to reserve your free upgrade.
The reservation screen asks for your email address so you can receive
the notification. Enter your email address and click the Send
confirmation button. You can now close the Get Windows 10

I know have been there, done that several times still can not get that
to work even I know I do have the key combo control alt w in the
properties on the desktop still does not work. I did find that if you go
in to the search box in the start menu and type in window eyes when you
are on that result, use the context key on the keyboard it is the one
key on the right side of the keyboard if you are going from the space
bar from left to right it is the third key, or the second key from the
control key still referring the right side of the space bar, anyway you
hit the context key a menu will pop up and you want to arrow down to
where it says to pin to task bar. Then that way you can use the windows
key along with the number row to hit for example: windows key the number
one. I have done that and that has worked. I even made a short cut for
NVDA in that kind of way. I only have two things pinned to the task bar
and it is a easy way to go. Hope I could help you out.

i think this is a windows 7 problem.
if i change the keys, save the change and go back in and put the w back

Duxbury with window eyes.

2015-04-02 Thread Sue J Ward via Talk
Hello there. I was wondering does duxbury work really well with window
eyes? Am thinking about buying at some point, and was wondering when you
get the package in the mail is the CD and card in braille? Cause I know
from reading the manual that the license is really long and it would be
nice to have the license key come in braille. Thanks so much.

bitdefenter work with window eyes.

2015-03-13 Thread Sue J Ward via Talk
Hello. I am wondering does bitdefender work well with window eyes. I am
looking for a good free antivirus program that will work with window
eyes with out any toolbars or any search engines added on and you don't
have to pay for. I do use MSE did not find anything. In the past I tried
avast, forget that one since I had to have my husband help me out in
getting rid of the program by going in to safe mode just to remove the
darn thing. I also heard that AVG is bad. I did use clamwin, that did
not find anything, and also used malware bytes the free version, did not
find anything. So any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

Re: battle ship app.

2015-03-03 Thread Sue J Ward via Talk
Hello, am so glad I have it on my second computer, so how do I
reinstall the app if it is no longer there? Lets just say some time down
the road I want to back the app up would I have to go in to the app data
section in my users folder in this case it would be the folder called
sjfw, then go in the app data folder after that would go in the roaming
folder then would look for the gwmicro part then go in the default
folder then copy the files that have the word battle so I can put them
on to a thumb drive? After that would I put the thumb drive that have
those files on to another computer that does have window eyes so I could
have that game on another machine?

Hi, I am curious if others are experiencing window-eyes 9.0 using ie
11 many
web pages either lagging or freezing? I know the way window-eyes has
change
for handling web pages has changed. I just need to figure out if I am
not
doing something correctly or should there be something I should be
doing
different or are my expectations of performance to high?

Often when researching the pages freez / window-eyes stops talking
and I
just stop close the page and walk away. This did not happen under
window-eyes 8.04, but guess this is not really fair since window-eyes
9.0 is
handling the web pages and not using a buffer any more.

Next time I can try and provide links where this is happening, but
right now
my frustration got the best of me, sorry. I know they could use the
links to
see if they get the same problem.

Thanks.
