Hi,

I think for the customers I'm talking to, it's not so much learning
keystrokes, it's that they want it to "sound" more like Window-Eyes. Those
tutorial messages in JAWS can be a bit annoying for example, if you are used
to Window-Eyes more terse way of talking.

I'm just surmising here.

All the best

Hi there!

I made the switch from W.E. to jaws about a week or so ago, and for the most
part have had little or no issues at all with the switch over.
Yes, I did have to learn and memorize a few new key combinations, but
memorizing is extremely easy for me<SMILE!>. Not certain of exactly what it
is that folks have to learn that is more than memorizing some new
keystrokes..? Good Luck & Have A Good 1! de .

2017-05-30 Thread Kevin Huber via Talk
Hi Jim:

That makes a lot of sense, but since not everything is contained in
one menu system like Window-eyes, one has to know which menu to find
things like changing whether you want the name of a key that you do
not want spoken, or controling the speed or volume of your
synthesizer. Of course, that wouldn't be too hard to learn. Having
said that, although am a window-eyes user, I still am quite familiar
with JAWS. I have to be, for my job as a trainer.

I really don't understand people's annoyance at having to purchase a
tutorial. There is free material already available, which they can use, but
why shouldn't someone be recompensed for their time and effort in creating a
tutorial. When I purchased my Iphone, I didn't think twice about purchasing
Anna Dresner's tutorial and it was money really worth spending.

In the past I have used some of Brian Hartgen's tutorials and they were
always of a high standard.

There is free learning materials available for those who don't want to
splash out extra money but they really can't expect people to undertake such
a big piece of work and receive no reward.

Hi:

That is true for some of us. I migrated from JAWS to Window-eyes in
the 1990s and it wasn't so dificult for me, but some people on the
list do need some assistance and there are choices for that.
I wonder if anyone has actually compared Brian's tutorial with Rau's
tutorials and if so, could someone give the list a report on their
findings.

Agreed with the exception that both don't always interpret the unique issues
of controls and content of applications beyond Microsoft and known
applications. This doesn't really affect the typical user though so there
is no reason why anyone should be afraid of the learning curve.

Hi, Then thing I see is that while there are some differences in WE and
Jaws, the windows stuff is the same. There are some different keystrokes for

some things, but quite a few are the same. There's really not too much to
learn other than just remembering some new key combinations. Some of you are

acting like your having to learn some completely new out of this world
program. If some of you spent as much time learning the new key strokes as
you do complaining about people selling their help products, you would
already be and expert. Could we please quit cluttering up the list just to
bitch about stuff? I'm sure you can find list out there that are devoted to
whinners.

I agree. I think people areacting because they are mad about the fate of
Window-Eyes, not just the cost of the tutorial. Furthermore, we don't have
any proof that Mr. Hartgen had anything to do with the demise of
Window-Eyes. While I am not familiar with his tutorials, I have purchased
others in the past. I admit, some I have found very helpful and others not
so much. While I don't intend to purchase one at this time, I think the
tutorial should be evaluated on its own merits.
