Is this a Dectalk USB or a Dectalk express?

The only Dectalk I am aware of that uses a driver in Windows is the USB on a
USB port.
Having said that, I'm currently using a tripletalk USB and have had a Dectalk
USB connected when running Windows 10 with no loss of driver.

Re: Back To Windows 7 Pro

2015-12-01 Thread Pastor Gil Pries via Talk

It is a Deck-talk Express with a fdti cable that has a driver.
The update to windows 10 kept eracing it.
I contacted the Microsoft disabilities desk and the rep told me it was a
conflict with the update.

There were no drivers for Windows 10.

Well at some point Microsoft is not going to support windows 7. There is no
reason why they should as windows 10 is a free upgrade for windows 7 and up.
At some point you will have to upgrade if you want to use apps and some newer
programs. It is like all those people using xp at some point you will have to
upgrade.

Re: Back To Windows 7 Pro

2015-11-30 Thread Mike Pietruk via Talk
well, MSFT has indicated that WIN7 will be supported until at least
sometime in 2020.
I wouldn't worry too much about WIN7 going away until they first
officially discontinue dropping support for VVista.
And, while official support hyas vanished for xp, there are still millions
of pcs out there that are happily running each day with XP and even older
operating systems.
The way to force people to migrate to "the latest and greatest" operating
system is when 3rd parties stop providing software that folks want to use
on an older system.
MSFT has done this, to some degree, by not providing IE to work with XP
and Vista; and newer WE9s stop at Vista.
That's how you get people to move up; so, right now, Win7 has at least 4
life yrs left (if not more) and the marketplace will ultimately determine
when a operating system goes away.
Just look at how long official support continued for XP though MSFT wanted
to kill it.
And by the time support for Win7 goes away, who knows what improvements a
newer operating system might have.

Subject: Back To Windows 7 Pro

Hi,
I am back to Windows 7 Pro.
I couldn’t use my Deck-talk Express with Windows 10 and I had trouble burning
DVDDs.
Windows 10 update kept eracing my Deck-talk driver.
I also had to get a new printer, because the old one wasn’t compatible with
Windows 10.
I reinstalled Windows 7 Pro with my disk.
Just wanted to let you all know.

I used the command string someone shared on this list earlier, to rid
the system of those files that kept popping up the Win 10 installation
prompt. It took out those files and I have not been harassed since.

Having Win 10 forced on everyone ought to cause problems from Microsoft,
as most people do not like being Forced to do much of anything, even
when it is to be good for you.

Win 7 is said to be supported until 2020, and after than it will go the
way of Win XP.

Well being that it was an optional upgrade to begin with, I doubt that they'll
actually force us to upgrade. Most likely they'll just keep pestering us with
that (get windows 10) thing in the sys tray.

Wish I would of stayed with windows 7 as far as we crashing all the time.
Even on a new computer that came with windows 10. Sure hope there is an
update soon that will resolve some of these issues. I almost feel like I'm
back at the windows 95 days.
