Re: Total Recorder
One thing you guys should take a serious look at is virtual audio cable, and though not free, it will do much you want including re-directing any audio stream to any device, and give you a "repeater" program to monitor any stream you've changed on whatever or where ever. :) - Curtis Delzer, HS. I depends on the sound card. You need to take a look at the recrding properties. Some cards have stereo mix or what you hear, some do not. I had a windows seven box that didn't have that choice on the sound card, so to record baseball, I had to buy a program called replay media capture. Re: Total Recorder
Well Carol, I think the more you use TR, the more you will like it. I must say though, that my recording needs aren't really all that varied, mostly recording streams, and adding notes to those broadcasts whenever I burn them to cd for a friend of mine. Those addendum being dates and any other necessary information he might find helpful. Editing is remarkably easy. You can also append to any files you have recorded or place a file any place you might wish too within said file. I find myself doing this whenever I have to record the repeat streaming of the program that ended prematurely. All I can say is that I hope that the solution to this problem is indeed one relating to power options. Considering just how inconsistent this occurrence is, it may take me weeks to make that determination. I will keep exploring these options for things that might have a logical relationship to this issue. I really can't understand why TR would be telling you that you had so many hours to go after two hours of recording. I don't think I've ever had that happen, but if it has, I sure can't recall. Hopefully that problem will quickly resolve itself. If you have any other questions about TR, be sure and let me know, and I'll do my best to help you. I've had Goldwave on my systems for about as many years as TR, but have never made any real use of it. I did download MP3DC, or more to the point, downloaded it from Butch Bussen's Shell World page, but haven't had a chance to run it. I really can't imagine it having anything like the sophistication of TR, but we'll see if it might be useful in some way. Who knows, it may be just what the doctor ordered for my issue. Wont know until I've tried it. However, I think I'll give the power options a go before attempting to adjust to using another program. Oh well Carol, let me know how things go. Take care, Larry On 2/14/2018 8:29 PM, Carol and Roger via Talk wrote: Well, I was looking through the settings the other day because the pc kept going to sleep and I thought I had set it not to sleep. I had to look for it, but I can't exactly tell you where it was, but I think it was under advanced settings. Today's recording was about 3.5 hours. The only problem I had with the scheduler was that I set the start time to 12:00 and the finish time to 15:30. When the time was up, Total Recorder informed me that I had almost 12 more hours to record. Trying to stop the recording was difficult. It would not pause or stop until I finally tried alt-F4. I didn't want to try that because I was afraid I would lose my recording. It did not. I was promptee to make a decision to stop or continue. I stopped it and my file was immediately saved. There is so much to this program. If I can read about it, I think I will like it possibly more than Goldwave. I also will take a look at MP3 DC. It sounds like a good program. Re: Total Recorder
Carol, I've been using TR for at least 15 years. Couldn't get along without it. I use it, for the most part, for recording audio streams. The gap here might be that I am using the professional edition. With the pro edition, you can schedule recording sessions, and in theory, and even in fact, they can go on until you run out of drive space. The streams that I record are .mp3, and the longest one I've recorded was twelve hours without a hitch. I say all that to say this. I do have a problem more often than I would like with recordings that just quit with no real explanation. I think I would give my right arm if I could find a way to do something about it. The thing is, the recording session doesn't shut down when this happens, but stays open until the end of its scheduled time. I even have TR set to reconnect when it loses the connection, at least that is what I think is happening here, but no go. OK, maybe I wouldn't give my right arm, but maybe a steak or chicken dinner if someone could help me to figure this one out. I kinda think it might be a problem with Comcast, but it is so random in nature, I can think of no way for them to check it out. Oh well.
