RE: os for laptop

2016-08-04 Thread Charles Short via Talk
Oh remember how I emailed you off list about the problem that I was having
with the emails not reading automatically? ...problem fixed! ...I called AI
Squared and they walked me through it by going to the add-ins, disabling the
ones that I don't want, and re-inabling the outlook enhanced add-in,
uninstalling and reinstalling the outlook enhanced app.

Actually, you don't have to save Office 365 documents in the cloud where, in
my opinion, there kind of hard to find and organize.
I learned this by making a copy of a local Word document within my local
folder, renaming it, opening it, clearing out its contents, editing and
saving it again, and, presto, I have a new local document.

all you have to do is open the privacy setting and turn everything off. and
do not use a microsoft account to log in.
even cortana can be turned off now. it can still be used for operations on
the local computer. like loading apps or changeing windows settings the
problem is everything is going to the cloud. office 365 ,one drive, outlook
etc. with these you have to use a microsoft account to log onto these
programs to retrieve your data stored on line.

Re: os for laptop

2016-08-04 Thread Pamela Dominguez via Talk
I was surprised I could find a windows seven computer, but I had to go to
V Photo and Video to get one. The people at Best Buy sent me there. Back
in the end of 2012, when I wanted to get a windows seven laptop for somebody
for Christmas, all the stores I went to said they didn’t have them anymore.
They told me, specifically the guy I remember at Wal-mart, said he had to
send all the windows seven computers they had left back "last month", as he
put it. Pam.

SURPRISE for you!

Two days ago, a bigger dealer over here avertised laptops on a
Back-To-School sale, brand new, with Win7Pro on them. Out of three
models for sale, only ONE, was with Win10.

Enjoy your surprise.

Smiley.

Agreed, as time moves by, we might see the Win7 machines still in stock,
getting sold out. And yet, Some claimed a couple of years ago, that
since Win8.1 had taken over for Win8, and was such a great system, we
would no longer see Win7 systems for sale. Still, late as this very
week, we do see Win7 brand new systems for sale. Hard to predict what
will happen, so let's be realistic, instead of jumping to conclusions.

A person who wants a Win7 machine, will have a chance of either run
through the alternatives for local stores or certain netshops. Or, you
may want to buy a one year old second-hander, and get a machine with
much the same good specs as many of the brand new ones. Good news is,
that the second-hand machines may likely save you enough money, that you
right away can upgrade their hardware - RAM and SSD instead of the
traditional harddisk.

For many a user, an upgraded second-hand machine, with Win7 on it -
might be a FAR MORE stabil and value-for-the-dollar product, than what a
brand new Win10 with limited resources would be. Newest is far from
always the best.

RE: os for laptop

2016-08-01 Thread Olusegun -- Victory Associates LTD, Inc. via Talk
Hello Hui:

Microsoft prefers that you get a Windows10 OS flavor laptop. If you know
for sure that Windows10 software drivers are available for your peripherals,
then this might be a good choice for you. I have heard that Windows8
software drivers for various peripherals do work in Windows10.

If there is a concern that software drivers for your peripherals may not be
available for Windows10, then run with Windows7. Windows7 is still good
till 2020 anyway.

So, essentially, the choice is yours depending on your needs and these you
have to carefully evaluate. Hope this has been a bit helpful.

Sincerely,
Olusegun
Denver, Colorado
