[OSM-talk] Starting quality study around french OSM administrative boundaries
Tracing France administrative boundaries is a tedious work that took several years as France has 36000+ municipalities which is around 40% of all Europe municipalities ! In 2011, then in mid-2013, IGN (french geographic national authority) published 2 datasets in opendata, GEOFLA and Route500, but these data are simplified with a much lower level of details compared to OSM goals. So, the only authorized and good enough source for that job is the french cadastre. As we're getting close to 100% completeness of french administrative boundaries, it is time to study their quality. Without freely available reference data, an exhaustive study is not possible, but let's try with what we have. GEOFLA and Route500 contain simplified administrative boundaries, but it seems that the crossing nodes have been more or less maintained very close to their original location. So I've tried to do some comparison on these crossing nodes between OSM and Route500 (less simplified that GEOFLA). 2013/11/20 Florian Lohoff f...@zz.de As the order on the int_names might have changed due to edits afterwards i'd be very careful to convert them automatically to the name:languagecode version which is the right way to do it. If one could reconstruct the order/tag from the original import and its the same all the time i'd vote for changing them. That nobody cared in 4 years is not an argument to delete it or change it. Probably people have been happy with the results of nominatim which parses it? There is another mail I got from the mapper who translated and added the tags (see below). As you can see he points out, that this is in my opinion the correct way but since there is no order in the languages (in fact there was sometime more names to put in the int_name tag but I had to limit the length in JOSM ) it would be difficult to do it the script way . Btw., he is also agreeing that those names should better go into dedicated name:language-tags. And yes, Nominatim seems indeed to parse those comma separated values, thanks for pointing this out. cheers, Martin __ somebody suggests in the mailing list Hi, What's the international name here? I think int_name should be used only where there is one main international name, that could lead as a fallback for any name not given explicitly, like Beijing (didn't check the spelling now) for what Germans calls Peking, Chinese write in their own symbols and so on. Here Beijing is the name the city is promoted usually in an international context, although different countries and languages have their own names for it. For Sidon the parts are individual localized names: Sayda = name:sv, name:tr Sidonas = name:lt Sidone = name:it Sidón = name:cs, name:es, name:gl Sydon = nme:pl Sídon = name:is, name:pt Şaydā, = name:et Σιδώνα, = name:el Сидон = name:sr Sidon = name:cy, name:de, name:eu, name:fr, name:hr, name:id, name:kl, name:pam, name:la, name:ms, name:nl, name:no, name:ro, name:sco, name:sl, name:sh, name:fi this is in my opinion the correct way but since there is no order in the languages (in fact there was sometime more names to put in the int_name tag but I had to limit the length in JOSM ) it would be difficult to do it the script way . i would suggest keeping the tag name:ar1 or bulk change it to name1:ar , this is important for keeping a correct arabic spelling of a place name , in case of vandalism. [OSM-talk-nl] That Shouldn't Be Possible™ coverage extended to Benelux
Goedenavond. (there - that should mask my linguistic failures enough for me to fall back into english now) My GPS trace analyzer, That Shouldn't Be Possible™ has recently extended its reach beyond the british isles to cover benelux too. Its purpose? To accept a GPS trace of a drive/cycle you've gone for, analyze the journey against the routable OSM database and, if appropriate, say That Shouldn't Be Possible. Used like this, it can find quite a lot of routing problems or road segments missing from the database. It can also be used to take the hard work out of checking the OSM database against your trace after a long journey by flagging up sections that don't quite agree with OSM. Not quite sure whether you've got that complex junction interlinked and tagged right? Have a gps trace or two that traverses it? That Shouldn't Be Possible might be able to help you. An (extra special dutch) example analysis result can be seen here[1]: I've left a nice great big error (visible as a spike in the plot) in the middle of it as an example where the trace seems to traverse what's marked as a path. I've written a lot more about it on the wiki[2], so I'm not going to duplicate all that blather here. It's still in what I would call a prototype stage, but it works surprisingly well for motorcar traces (less so for bicycle so far, though I would say that's largely the fault of OSRM's bicycle profile). Even so[3] I encourage mappers to try it out[4] on one of their traces. robert. Also Relation andersrum. Re: [Talk-it] Questa cosa fa impazzire il mio Garmin
In ogni caso, perderemmo i multipolygon.

Re: [Talk-it] Questa cosa fa impazzire il mio Garmin

___ Talk-it mailing list Talk-it@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-it

Io faccio way separate per i marciapiedi.
