Actually TA Centres (Territorial Army Centres) which are now called Army Reserve Centres. If you're surveying you might find the units based at them have changed name too Regards Brian On 11 June 2018 at 17:23, Robert Whittaker (OSM lists) < robert.whittaker+...@gmail.com> wrote: > On 9 June 2018 at 15:15, Rob Nickerson wrote: > > A couple other "Ghosts": > > I'd be happy to add both of these to > http://robert.mathmos.net/osm/ghosts/ if possible and appropriate. > > > - Total petrol stations (I'm almost certain this brand has gone now but > > struggled to find definitive proof) > > I guess a suitable Overpass search for these would be > > [amenity=fuel][name="Total"]; > [amenity=fuel][brand="Total"]; > > But does anyone have any knowledge of whether the brand really has > gone from the UK? > > > - The army recruitment shops - can't remember the name (Brian will know > as he > > mentions this occasionally) > > I'll need some form of query to capture these. That's what's happened here if you look at the main schools tool at: http://robert.mathmos.net/osm/schools/progress/B/#17/52.54752/-1.89212 There are two schools in the official register in that area, but three amenity=school/college objects in OSM. The extra "Unexpected School" in OSM is actually the Maryvale Institute. As far as I can tell, this college offers higher education courses (i.e. undergraduate degrees) so would be better tagged as amenity=university rather than amenity=college. If this is done, then the two schools on the official register will be matched to the two remaining schools in OSM, and the flagged errors will disappear. People local to Birmingham might be interested in looking at http://robert.mathmos.net/osm/schools/progress/B/ where there are a lot of red circles indicating "unexpected" schools in OSM. Some of these are likely to be duplicate objects (e.g. both a school grounds polygon and a building being tagged with amenity=school), some will be non-schools tagged as amenity=school/college, some will be a second site for a existing school, and others might be schools that have since closed. The matching by the tool works will in most places, but can struggle in dense urban areas with lots of schools close together. You can help the tool get the matching right by adding the appropriate ref:edubase=* tags to the schools in OSM. (Schools already matched by this key are shown with dark green lines, other matches -- based on location and postcodes -- are shown with light green lines.) The official registration page for it is https://www.pharmacyregulation.org/registers/pharmacy/registrationnumber/1109439 , and it looks like thie is the place: http://www.taitspharmacy.co.uk/ . If there's no sign of it on the ground at that address, I would guess that it may be an online only pharmacy. I quick read online, suggests that there are two types of pharmacies that can be registered -- the traditional type and distance-selling-only. The former can do online/distance-selling stuff too, but the latter is restricted from delivering "essential services" (e.g. prescriptions) to people in person at their premises (though they can provide other in-person services). If this is correct, then we probably shouldn't be listed the distance-selling-only pharmacies as amenity=pharmacy in OSM. Unfortunately the data from the General Pharmaceutical Council doesn't seem to distinguish the two. Does anyone have any ideas/thoughts here? > How often data in your tool are refreshed? I surveyed a couple of postboxes > and updated OSM data just recently. The OSM data is updated roughly once a week. The third party data is updated less frequently, and is sometimes constrained by how often the third party provides updates. Details can be found at http://robert.mathmos.net/osm/updates.cgi which is now linked from the Survey Me page at http://robert.mathmos.net/osm/survey/ . > As you have gathered those data it is possible to provide some API to access > it? Personally I would be glad to see them as StreetComplete quests. There are geojson and GPX downloads available from http://robert.mathmos.net/osm/survey/ for each rectangle once you zoom in. You can hack the URLs in the obvious way if you want to grab multiple sets of data. There are also some download options (often on a per postal district basis) on many of the individual tools (though some of the files labelled as geojson are actually js files defining a geojson object). I haven't got anything to get the full data for each class, though I could look at this if there was interest. As far as StreetComplete is concerned, I'd looked at that before. As far as I could see though, what they're after there is things where users can answer a yes/no question or input a number or short string, in order to update the tagging on an existing OSM object. I think this makes most of the issues in Survey Me unsuitable. One exception that springs to mind is post boxes without a ref=* tag, where you could have a StreetComplete quest that asks "What is the box number of this Post Box?" We'd then need a way of tagging the negative options of "Royal Mail Box without a visible ref" and "Non-Royal Mail box". The former could be "ref:visible=no". but I'm a bit stumped as to what to do with the latter case. (This includes a handful of "private" boxes for public use, which are not official Royal Mail post boxes, but ones where the operator offers to re-post anything they find in there as a service to their visitors. There is/was one like this in my local Sainsbury's for example.) My first thought was to use the operator=* tag. If this is anything but "Royal Mail" then we could treat the box as a private box and ignore it. However, use of the operator tag on Royal Mail post boxes probably isn't consistent enough for that to be a good idea: http://robert.mathmos.net/osm/postboxes/osm-operator.html . Does anyone have any thoughts, or have any experience setting up StreetComplete quests? Robert. ___ Talk-GB mailing list Talk-GB@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-gb

Apparently they ceased trading in the UK in 2016 and had been winding down since 2010. I'm trying to find a reliable source for this information presently... Re: [Talk-GB] Two new tools: 'Ghosts' and 'Survey Me'
Hi Robert, So, I did a partial walk through my area and I have a couple of questions. How to report false positives to the 3rd party data? Tait's Pharmacy (BD18 3HZ) certainly does not exist at mentioned location. Neither there is any track it existed before or would be exist soon. http://robert.mathmos.net/osm/survey/#18/53.8361/-1.7862 How often data in your tool are refreshed? I surveyed a couple of postboxes and updated OSM data just recently. As you have gathered those data it is possible to provide some API to access it? Personally I would be glad to see them as StreetComplete quests. Nice one. I hope you didn't mind me sharing it on twitter as well. I like this sort of thing as it makes it obvious what things nearby need a quick survey. It's super helpful when travelling away from home and you have a spare 15 mins to go out and map. Are you taking suggestions as to what to add next? A non data one would be to auto zoom the map to the users location. Best regards, *Rob* ___ Talk-GB mailing list Talk-GB@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-gb
[Talk-GB] Two new tools: 'Ghosts' and 'Survey Me'
I'd like to announce two new tools, which may help people improve OSM data in the UK. The first tool is 'Ghosts': http://robert.mathmos.net/osm/ghosts/ I put this together as a result of the discussion on this list last month. The tool aims to track closed and re-named/re-branded UK shops and facilities that are still present in OSM. It's probably not that useful on its own, apart from helping to indicate the size of different issues and our progress in tackling them (and you could tell that anyway from taginfo.) However, it also feeds its data in to... The second tool is 'Survey Me!': http://robert.mathmos.net/osm/survey/ This combines the data from Ghosts and my various other tools (defibrillators, postboxes, post offices, pharmacies, rights of way, schools) and presents a local view of discrepancies that could potentially be resolved by a ground survey. The idea is that if you're interested in your local area, or you're going somewhere new and want to see if there's anything in particular worth surveying, you can use the tool to get a set of locations to check out. This should be much more convenient than looking at each of my tools individually. I hope some of your will find these tools useful. As usual, I'm happy to receive feedback and suggestions for improvements.
