V Hello Stuart,

I've created a message tab. Who do I have to kill to get it to
 display?

V You have to do this: View, Toolbars, Customise. Select Main menu on
V the top, go into the View menu on the right, highlight e.g. Folder
V tabs. Now, on the left select Mailer Forms, and look for Message
V list tabs. Press that Right arrow icon.

V Now, if you go out from this window and select View/ Message list
V tabs, you should see your tabs.

Shouldn't he have it on View-MessageListTabs like everybody else?

Thread by subject fails with localized reply prefixes

2005-09-24 Thread Alexander S. Kunz
Hello everyone,

threading by subject does not work if the subject contains a localised
version of the RE: string (like german AW: or swedish SV:, etc.) -
message that come in with AW: subject (or SV: subject) are shown as
separate threads, and I have little influence on the subject style of
incoming messages.

There should be a configuration option for localised reply prefixes in the
subject, or a more intelligent algorhythm for subject matching.

Recognizing some sort of two chars of anything maybe followed by digits in
square brakets followed by a colon pattern would be a start. The german
version of Novell Groupwise adds Antw: or even Antwort:, so a freely
configurable set of subject prefixes would be the best solution IMHO.

I'm not sure if I should post this as a BUG or a WISH to the RL
issuetracker. Opinions?

I have them in a separate directory.

So TB directly opens the attached file from the separate directory, using
the original filename, vs. extracting the attachment from the messagebase
into a temporary folder with a temporary filename.

IIRC this has been discussed before, and there was reason for using a
temporary filename. If I could only remember it. :-)

If that doesn't help, you could try to: select all messages from the

import the messages again.

I had a somehow corrupted folder once that did not seem to get fixed with

you let us know -at least in parts- :

CF BTW: why does TB show my Greek.gif as 659BF11a.gif when
CF clicking on it? I never noticed this before.

That would be because TB! is just saving a temp file when you
click on it and don't actually save it to disk.

This is new to me, thank you.

Re: Thread by subject fails with localized reply prefixes

Hi Alexander!

There should be a configuration option for localised reply prefixes in the
subject, or a more intelligent algorhythm for subject matching.

Well, there shouldn't be localized versions of Re: anyway. But you're
right as long as there are, a option for what should be identified as
a Reply would be nice. Moreover any sequence of these reply markers
should be threaded as a reply to that very subject. I've seen subjects
like Re: AW: Re: AW: Antwort: Re: Real subject.

I'm not sure if I should post this as a BUG or a WISH to the RL

A wish. There's one RFC about the format of the subject, where was:
Fwd: etc. are mentioned. That should be followed by any MUA as far as
I know.

V :)) Tell me with example, please! :)

OK, here are some pictures. First picture Mail Download is a
screenshot of the CC while downloading mail from a group of accounts.
You will notice that even though the IMAP account is selected I can
see the progress of the other accounts. It lets me know that
everything is working.

If I need more detail I can select a specific account, say MTS-Check
Mail, and see the header info of the current mail that is downloading
and the progress of an individual e-mail.

In the second screenshot, Mail Dispatch, with the same IMAP account
selected, I can only see that there are 142 messages in the account to
be dispatched. At no time does this display change until all messages
have been dispatched and then they all pop up. Again if I want more
detail I can select the account and see it on the bottom, but as I so
naively demonstrated, if you do not realize that the account you are
dispatching is not selected you will not any progress and may wonder
what is going on, especially if you have a lot of message on the
server.

It just seems to me that it is inconsistent. BTW this only happens
when you have an IMAP account that stays connected all the time. If
you don't have IMAP then when you dispatch mail there is only one
active account and you can see what is happening.

And also Curtis' good friend Jasper agrees with me again. :)))

Same problem here. Frozen IMAP connections.

I for one would like to see RIT either fix IMAP or pull it from the

Yes this is odd. Do you have View/Global View Mode/ set to none. This

IMAP - Message counting(9Val)

2005-09-24 Thread Stuart Cuddy
Hello tbbeta,

I have noticed with IMAP that the count is inconsistently portrayed.

I have server side Sent, Outbox and Trash. If I go into that account
and delete a message and do nothing else the count adds up my messages
in my Inbox, Sent and Outbox, but does not add what is in my Trash. If
I then sit and watch for a while the count flickers and increases by 1
and then goes back down by 1. It continues to do this even after
leaving the account and even shutting down TB and restarting.

If I then select the trash account it adds it and the flickering
stops. Any confirmations.

RS Yes, it's set to (no view mode) as there is no option that says none,
RS but I'm assuming that's what you meant.

You no what they say the word assume, it makes an ass out of u and
me. Well it just made an as out of me. :(

I just reread your initial message and I quote If I go into Message
List Columns. I had assumed that you meant you could not make any
changes, but you actually meant that you could not make changes by
going into Message List Columns. You are correct you cannot make
changes in here that stick and I agree that it is a bug.

As a work around, try right clicking on the header columns, select
manage viewmodes, and then select the mode you want to change. Make
your changes and they should stick. You can also make changes, like
sort order by clicking on the headers and that will stick also
depending on your setting for saving changes.

Hope this makes sense and if you want to report it as a bug I will
confirm it.

If I understand this correctly, any mta that finds a message that does not
contain a msg-id should add one. The problematic message I found went from
a friends computer with Outlook2003 thru the smtp of his freemail provider,
to a listmailer, then to my inbox. That makes three mta's that did not add
the msg-id. Looks like a lot of work. :-)

TB fails on msgs where Content-Type header is consolidated... or some thing

2005-09-24 Thread Stefan Riegler
F7BD15E299258AA
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Hello List!

The new eMail server of my university resorts the mail headers and
consolidates the 'Content-Type:' header.

TheBat is not able to display the message anymore. And not able to
extract the message either. I had to extract the bad message from the
base.

But i don't know the exact reason. I've compiled two example messages
which demonstrates the behavior.

Wohoo... interesting... if I try to attach the messages TB will add
the bad message and discard the one which normally displays in the
message pane... And the bad message is now viewable in the pane.

BTW: The wlx EML Viewer 0.5 plugin in TotalCommander crashes on
displaying the bad message. First I thought it was due the bad file
content, but it displays the 'good' message... JFYI

Re: TB fails on msgs where Content-Type header is consolidated... or some thing

2005-09-24 Thread Jonathan Angliss
Hi Stefan Riegler,
On Saturday, September 24, 2005, you wrote:

 Hello List!

Are the attached emails real, or samples? I'm not entirely sure that
you can have two sets of boundaries in a single Content-Type header,
which is why TB is probably choking.

TheBat is not able to display the message anymore. And not able to
extract the message either. I had to extract the bad message from the
 base.

But i don't know the exact reason. I've compiled two example messages

With two boundary headers on a single line, TB is probably overwriting
the first boundary line (in its internal memory) with the second one.
As you can see, the message doesn't have that boundary as the... er...
boundary, so it doesn't know what to do with it.

As an interesting observation, what mail client generated the ok
email? There are two Content-Type headers in that email, and both use
different boundaries. You might find that the only reason the ok
message displays is due to the same reason the fail message doesn't.
The second header is overwriting the first when TB processes the
message. I'm not entirely sure that would be a valid email either,
though I could be wrong. A quick skim over some of the RFCs involved,
I cannot find anything that specifically says that you cannot have two
of them.
