Personally, I don't run into that problem. However, I often receive

recall messages is the user did not check the To or CC fields
prior to hitting send.

I suspect this new feature would be of assistance to them.

Personally, it does not matter to me.

Question. Why does the program now ask if I want to save a message
prior to sending? Is their a way to turn off this feature.

Thanks

Re: The Bat! 3.63.09 and the Outbox Protection Feature

2005-12-11 Thread MAU
Hello Maxim,

 We've implemented Outbox Protection Feature.

It is currently OFF by default. If you add Registry DWORD Value
 CopyToOutboxProhibited=1 to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The
Bat!, The Bat! will prohibit copying messages to Outbox from other
folders. You will be only able to foward, redirect, etc
. messages, which will lead to creation of new messages in Outbox,
but you will not be able to copy (or move) messages to Outbox.

When this option is ON, and you click Copy to folder menu item, the
Outbox folder is not shown in the list. Also, if you try to use
Drag-And-Drop to copy messages to Outbox, the cursor gets prohibited shape.

Please let us know whether it should be ON by default.

If it is going to be an option that can only be changed via RegEdit,
then leave it OFF by default.

If it is going to be an option in Preferences or Account/Properties,
then just flip a coin :)

Would it be too difficult to implement a 'Draft' folder? Outbox and

Outbox:
  - Messages go though it when clicking Send if Delivery type =
  Immediate.
  - Holds messages if Delivery type = Deferred or if 'Put in Outbox' is

  - Does not allow Copy or Move to it.
  - Messages in Outbox can be opened and edited.

Draft:

  - Messages in Draft can be opened and edited (only difference with any

  - Messages in Draft CANNOT be sent directly, they have to be opened in

In that case, it would be better to have a confirmation if you copy to
the Outbox. I would rather a confirmation than not being able to
 without modifying the registry.

This is the best idea, I have read here.

Maxim: have a confirmation window with all the above mentioned 1-4 in
that window. If the user decides to copy anyway, that is his business.

Implement that window is easy, no registry, etc.

Hmm...
Maybe, you can put a toggle in:

0 - Dont allow copy to the Outbox
1 - Ask for confirmation when copying to Outbox
2 - Allow copying to Outbox

Default = 1.

Granted. But if I copy a message to Outbox I usually intend exactly
this: an unaltered copy, and not a new mail generated using the old as
template. If I intend to use a message as template for a new one I can
Redirect it.

 4. It's easy to drop by mistake a message to outbox to make it sent,
especially messages received through distribution lists

So give Outbox a special hook than flags a message as parked if copied
into this folder. This way no message is accidentally sent, but I can
nevertheless easily resend one or more message(s) by simply copying
them, select them and unpark them.

Just my 2¢ :-)

IMAP: error creating/deleting folders

2005-12-11 Thread Luigi Rosa
I started to use IMAP and I noticed a bug in this and and 3.63.06 versions
(can't tell if there was previously).

Often (but not always) happens that immediately after the creation of a
folder in an IMAP account an error appears saying that the folder already
exixts followed by a few Access Violation errors (afther that I have to kill
The Bat via task manager).

The same if I delete a folder, the only difference is the first message:
instead a Folder already exixts error I get a Folder no longer exists.

Afther the forced shutdown, I have to go to the Manage IMAP folders
facility and rescan the folders: the newly created folder is there, even if
it is not subscribed nor syncronized.

This happens with various IMAP servers: Dovecot 1.0b4, Dovecot 1.0b5 and
Merak (the latest).

Ciao,
luigi

There are a number of separate sets of issues these days in beta

The big problem is that when you say yes, it saves a parked message in
the outbox and sends the message. If one hasn't read all the messages
which collected before one unparks the unsent message and sends it
again one sends two message

(sending separate message about why I am fallen back to .08 at moment)

Reply template malfunction under .09

2005-12-11 Thread Dwight A Corrin
When I went to reply using F4 and selected text using .09, I started
typing and wiped out the TO: address. checked again, and end up with
cursor at TO:

When reverted to .08 was able to confirm that cursor ends up below the
text being replied to, where it belongs.

3.63.09: Where have Rogues gone?

2005-12-11 Thread MAU
Hello all,

I've just realised that I am not seeing any of your pictures (those of
you who have Rogues). I thought it was some kind of display problem, but
I went back to 3.62.14 and even all the way to good old 3.02.10 and same
thing.

This lead me to find out that what is happening is that v3.63.09 is NOT
including the X-Rogue: header. Messages sent with previous versions show
rogues fine.

The question now is if it is a template problem, or what.

Confirmations?

To do it the TB way, we have to automate this. I only reply to POP
threads, so I was going to just add POP to my reply template. But that
won't work, because someone might have already indicated POP, and
double POPs don't look so good. So I'm looking for a regex:

%Subject=someregex

Someregex:
1.) If no mentioning of POP in %OSubject, add (POP) after Re: .
2.) If POP already mentioned, set subject as usual (don't forget the

I disagree with automation, we just all have to be a little more
conscious that not everybody is interested in all messages (subjects) or

OK on further testing it seems to work if the address is in the

Confirmed.

This lead me to find out that what is happening is that v3.63.09 is
NOT including the X-Rogue: header. Messages sent with previous
 versions show rogues fine.

Yes. I see Dwight who has just sent using .08. And I don't see you.

The question now is if it is a template problem, or what.

Maybe a template problem.
.09 ignores the handle call for the To, CC, and BCC fields which is
in a couple or so of my AB templates.

 Confirmations?

Fully confirmed.

The X-Rogue field is empty in the edit window of the message I'm
presently composing to you, Miguel. (Using MicroEd.)

Cursor won't hold focus in Reply body text

2005-12-11 Thread Mary Bull
Hello Everyone!

Only in 3.63.09:

1) Select text and reply to message using F4 or Shift/Click Reply
   Icon.
2) Reply template kicks in with cursor below greeting in body text of
MicroEd window and scrollbar to the right.
3) Scroll down to begin Reply below the last line of this long quote.
4) Cursor jumps back to top.
5) After repeated tries, cursor will remain stably in the desired
place, below the last line of the quote and above the cut mark.

This has been happening repeatedly to me as I try to compose Replies
to a number of long mails in TBOT.

Any confirmations?
