I've tried to download the corrected .msi but I can not install it
over the old 4.2.1.1 installation...

By the way, I confirm the Tip of the day error.

If I go in Help / Tip of the day, I get the Invalid image size error dialog.
Then I click OK and I get an empty tip dialog with the option Display
The Tip Of The Day at startup checked (it wasn't first !).
If I clic Next tip or if I click Previous tip, I get Access
violation at address 009553ED in the module 'thebat.exe'. Read of
address .

If it's not working for you, maybe there is another client you should

I grow weary of the blind shots that are not well documented simply
listed here in the forum. Your message, ... totally useless version

in the bug track or give a link to the specific existing bug track

I for one, just want to get on with testing and applying the product.

Hi,

EJM What is it exactly that is required in IMAP?

Reliability? Usability?

EJM If its a complaint, so be it. If its a real IMAP bug, report in
EJM bug track.

Thank you. When did you last browse the bugtracker? It is full of IMAP
bug reports, some of which have been - mostly without success - worked
on, most of which have not. They date back for years. Most of the more
recent reports (more recent with IMAP means not older than one or
two years) apparently haven't even been assigned.

EJM IMAP works and it is functional. It may not be what you want, yet, it
EJM does work.

So does nuclear fusion. Pity is, nobody can use it yet.

EJM I for one, just want to get on with testing and applying the product.

Suit yourself. Others, including me, would like to stop testing and
finally get some work done. TheBat/IMAP has been Beta (who's going
to be the first calling Alpha?) for over five years without any
substantial progress being made. Promises, occasionally. Date and
version estimates, sometimes. But progress you can lay your hand on -
never.

Me thinks you don't quite know what you're talking about.

Hello Ethan,
A reminder of what Ethan J Mings typed on:
  Sunday, June 07, 2009 at 09:39:39 GMT -0400

EJM What is it exactly that is required in IMAP? I keep hearing, reading and
EJM observing endless complaints. If its a complaint, so be it. If its
EJM a real IMAP bug, report in bug track.

IMAP has numerous problems and many, such as message counters not showing
correct
number of messages, poor refreshing of accounts, and message queues stalling
are
well documented in bugtraq. However we have been told that once this new
version
was out that Ritlabs would be concentrating on IMAP problems. I had ceased
filing bug reports for IMAP until this new work is started as it was understood
that no work would be done on IMAP bugs until the major work on IMAP begins.

I know it is annoying to see these comments constantly, but some of us are more
patient than others and we have been waiting on improved IMAP for a long time.

On the bright side the new version is out and IMAP fixes should be right around
the corner. :-)

Hi Ethan,

What is bugged in this version?

Same bugs as in the last version as for IMAP at least.

What is it exactly that is required in IMAP?

I deleted my IMAP account three times over the last week to get it usable
again. For some reason the message queue stalled. This was persistent even with
a newly created account. Seems that the queue is saved somewhere...

When it finally started to work again (no idea why it did) it updated several
folders without showing any activity in the connection manager. Not really
something I call helpful.

And: I think someone with knowledge about that posted that 4.2 will be the
version with IMAP working. Obviously that was marketing.

The only reason that I'm still with The Bat! is that I really like the MicroEd.
But with my major account not working from time to time this advantage gets
smaller and smaller.

perhaps you haven't been paying attention? we were told that work on
IMAP was coming, and it has been obvious that there was no point
hoping anything was going to happen until the rework which has

I've had an access violation a few times when I tried AltGr+key
combinations when Windows switched the keyboard layout to US English
from under me a few times, but since the keyboard switching seems to
be a Windows 7 glitch, I didn't report it (and I also can't reproduce
this problem at will - if I switch the keyboard layout manually, there
will be no problems, so I concluded that the problem itself is
somewhere in Windows, not TB).

IIRC, IMAP development will be continued AFTER the establishment of
the new database format. Which could mean anytime, from v. 4.1 onward
until v. 68876589.3245234.12341231.00457734 onward.

The only reason that I'm still with The Bat! is that I really like
the MicroEd. But with my major account not working from time to time
this advantage gets smaller and smaller.

The only reason I'm still using TB! is its superior filtering-to-file
capability. It has its flaws, but for me it's still the best method
for non-attendance e-mail archiving.

nobody told this, 4.2 is minor upgrade with more bugfixes than additions,
yes, postponed sending is available, but there are importans bugfixes and
this is reason this version was released as final.

and it continued, even it is not visible yet. I can not tell more, Stef
should do clear statement.

Hello Dwight,

perhaps you haven't been paying attention?

I've been paying close attention of a long period of time. I'm a long
time member of the list.

My point was focus on moving away from general statements to concrete
points.

we were told that work on IMAP was coming, and it has been obvious
that there was no point hoping anything was going to happen until
the rework which has reportedly been done and soon to be offered for
testing, so no one has been re-reporting complaints.

I understand the point on frustration. What I find continually
frustrating is broad based general statements that are not
substantiated. Being specific is, in my opinion, an important element
of beta testing any piece of software.

If users were endlessly complaining we would be offering a litany of
what wasn't fixed with each new beta, and you'd see what 'endless
 complaints' would be like.

As just mentioned, if something is not working, I hope that it will be
added to the bug track or the issue would be added to an existing bug
track point.

Appreciate your follow up notes.

Jerry

That is concrete.

Is it in the bug track?
