My jey of TV 10 isn't valid. Some bug here...
Please send me actual key for new Voyager that TB will recognized. By the fact
my Voyager can't be opened without key.

Re: Voyager 64bit

2020-11-16 Thread John Schmid
Hi Stefan,

I installed the test version this morning, re-enabled HTML rendering in the
preview window, and haven't had a rendering-releated crash so far. I tested on
messages that reliably crashed Voyager on Friday and they did not cause a crash.

I did get a crash when I switched themes from Automatic to Classic. After
restarting Voyager once more I was able to switch to the Classic theme without
a crash.

I'll run with this version for the next few days and let you know what happens.

Thank you,

John

You will get info about a portable installation of GnuPG there where
you download it and in the GnuPG documentation online:
<https://www.gnupg.org/documentation/manuals/gnupg/GPG-Configuration.html>

> "Options\OpenPGP\Choose OpenPGP version\Select OpenPGP

> am using portable version of GnuPG).
If you use GnuPG from PortableApps.com you will have to set some
registry keys properly:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Environment]
"GNUPGHOME"="path\\to\\your\\GnuPG-Data-Folder\\GnuPG"

For 64bit GnuPG:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GNUPG]
"HomeDir"="path\\to\\your\\GnuPG-Data-Folder\\GnuPG"
;;Replace "de" for German with your language code
"Lang"="de"

For 32bit GnuPG:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wow6432Node\GNUPG]
"HomeDir"="path\\to\\your\\GnuPG-Data-Folder\\GnuPG"
;;Replace "de" for German with your language code
"Lang"="de"

And it is a good idea to add the path to GnuPG executables to your
local or global PATH environment variables:
"PATH"=str(2):"some\\other\\path;path\\to\\your\\GnuPG-installation\\gnupg\\bin"

If you do this in an PortableApps.com installation it will handle this.
See:
<https://portableapps.com/manuals/PortableApps.comLauncher/ref/envsub.html#ref-envsub>
and
<https://portableapps.com/manuals/PortableApps.comLauncher/topics/registry.html>

Please post further questions about this topic in the *The-Bat.user*

2020-10-03 Thread Jano Skokanek
Hello All,

Please, where can I look for any "how to" about portable installations GnuPG
and Voyager using?
I have all items in dialog "Options\OpenPGP\Choose OpenPGP version\Select
OpenPGP implementation" grayed.
(I don't have Gnupg in system path, because I am using portable version of
GnuPG).

With Google I found only hints for TheBAT! and standart GnuPG installations,
not for portable versions.

The Bat! 9.1.16 MSI files & Voyager

2020-04-17 Thread Maxim Masiutin via TBBETA
The Bat! 9.1.16 MSI files and Voyager are available at:
https://www.ritlabs.com/download/files3/the_bat/thebat_32_9-1-16.msi
https://www.ritlabs.com/download/files3/the_bat/thebat_64_9-1-16.msi

What's new since version 9.1.14 released on April 13th, 2020:

[-] S/MIME did not work since 9.1.10
[-] The Bat! did try to change associations from the Preferences dialog even if
nothing in this configuration was changed by the user
[*] File type associations (default programs) can no logner be changed from an
application since Windows 8 or later. So, if The Bat! is running under Windows
8 or Windows 10, the relevant elements are not shown in the "Applications" tab.
Besides that, the dialog to associate file types no longer appers when The Bat!
starts
[*] In an ECDSA signature, if a hash function had larger digest length (in
bits) than the field size (which is not a good practice), The Bat! treated
these signatures as invalid. It might lead to invalid ECC certificates, e.g.
signed by “sha512ECDSA” algorithm. It might also lead to the following
error “TLS protocol error: Internal error BuildClientKeyExchange”. For more
information, see section 6.4 of FIPS.186-4 "ECDSA Digital Signature Generation
and Verification": it is recommended that the security strength associated with
the bit length of n and the security strength of the hash function be the same
unless an agreement has been made between participating entities to use a
stronger hash function. When the length of the output of the hash function is
greater than the bit length of n, then the leftmost n bits of the hash function
output block shall be used in any calculation using the hash function output
during the generation or verification of a digital signature. A hash function
that provides a lower security strength than the security strength associated
with the bit length of n ordinarily should not be used, since this would reduce
the security strength of the digital signature process to a level no greater
than that provided by the hash function.

I don't know if that is an "important" addition. Anyway, as long as I

I dislike the dark-blue of the account postbox. And small icons in

Dear Andrei,

I can confirm that - after installing 9.1.4_x64 over 9.1.2 the pinned icon in the taskbar became invalid.

It is weird, because when I installed 9.1.2 over 9.0.16.9 the pinned icon was working (for the first time in a while).

Still not working. Downgrading again to 8.2.4.3.

Sorry to say, but this is becoming ridiculous. It's a serious bug, I cannot
upgrade and a whole year passed since this problem appeared for the first
time!

Please understand that this is a problem of Voyager AND The Bat with Gmail. Is
Ritlabs willing to cease support for Gmail accounts?

I am willing to cooperate to solve the problem but I need Ritlabs to be
willing as well.

The Bat! Voyager 8.8.0.1

2019-02-12 Thread Maxim Masiutin via TBBETA
Hello The,

Please try The Bat! Voyager 8.8.0.1 from
https://www.ritlabs.com/download/files3/the_bat/voyager_install-8-8-0-1.exe

What's new in The Bat! Voyager 8.8.0.1 since Voyager 8.3.0.1 released on
22-Mar-2018:

[!] TLS 1.2
[*] (#0001248) refactor image download threads
[*] Contents of the "Organization" header line is not automatically appended in
parenthesis to the sender's address header line on display if the contents of
the Organization has a "@" character or a parenthesis or an angle bracket
[*] fixed select Image in toolbar customization
[*] If CPU supports SHA extensions, The Bat! Voyager will use them for SHA-256
hash. You can call The Bat! Voyager with /SHA256_BENCHMARK command line
parameter to figure out whether you CPU supports the extension and what is real
gain from using the extensions.
[*] Optimized thread usage by creating and freeing threads less frequent
because of using more threads with a reusable thread pool
[*] The Bat! Voyager now ignores message header address line comments that
contain "@" characters
[*] The Bat! Voyager is now able to locate GPG4WIN 3.1.1
[*] The Bat! Voyager now tries to call the GetAddrInfoExW function instead of
GetAddrInfoExA. Only if GetAddrInfoExW is not available, it reverts to
GetAddrInfoExA. This may probably fix problems on recent Windows 10 updates
[*] Updated the translation resources. At the moment, these change mostly
affect Bulgarian user interface language.
[*] When you run The Bat! Voyager with /STARTUP_TIMING_LOG command-line
parameter, it will also log all calls to anti-spam plugins
[+] "/TEMP:" command line parameter
[+] "/TLS_FORCE_PERFECT_FORWARD_SECRECY" command-line parameter
[+] Added new path macros: %PROGRAMFILES% and %PROGRAMFILESX86%
[+] Added the following Diffie-Hellmann cipher suites to the whole set of
ciphersuites that can be used for Perfect Forward Secrecy:
[+] Christmas Splash screen uses randomly one of five images
[+] More info on The Bat! Voyager start progress is written to the ex_log.txt
file if /STARGUP_COMMAND_LINE parameter is given
[+] New command-line parameter (must be specified as a first parameter in order
to be accepted, other parameters may follow it): "/SHA1_BENCHMARK". For
example, you can run /SHA1_BENCHMARK /NOLOGO /LOG_IA32CPUID
[+] New command-line parameter /LOG_IA32CPUID to write list of CPU capabilities
to the ex_log.txt file.
[+] Now a meanginful error message is given to the log when the server
disconnects during TLS handshake
[+] The "/TLS_DISABLE_PERFECT_FORWARD_SECRECY" command-line parameter
[+] The "/TLS_VERSION_RANGE:0-3" command line parameter to specify lowest and
highest SSL/TLS version minor byte number that The Bat! Voyager should support.
"0" means SSL 3.0, "1" means TLS 1.0, "2" means TLS 1.1 and "3" means "TLS
1.2". For example, to disable SSL 3.0, use "/TLS_VERSION_RANGE:1-3". Another
example – to only allow TLS 1.2 – use "/TLS_VERSION_RANGE:3-3"
[+] The /TLS_DISABLE_DHE command line option to disable Diffie-Hellman
ephemeral key agreement cipher suites on TLS
[+] The /TLS_DISABLE_ECDHE command line option to disable elliptic curve
Diffie-Hellman ephemeral key agreement cipher suites on TLS
[+] The Bat! Voyager now splits long IMAP commands (of about 7500 characters or
more) into shorter ones. This is needed for IMAP servers (e.g. Zimbra) that
don't accept longer commands, e.g. when you move thousands of messages from one
folder to another and the messages are not in a sequence. see "Long Command
Lines" sections of the following RFCs for more details: RFC-2683, p. 3.2.1.5,
RFC-7162, p. 4.
[+] Users of the On-The-Fly-Encryption mode can specify /DECRYPT_FILE_OTFE
command line parameter to decrypt a particular file and save it to disk.
[-] (#151) Cannot load HTML images under 32-bit (many images with the same
URL)
[-] (#571) Open attachments with the Shift key pressed still displays a
warning
[-] (#738) Google contact sync no longer working
[-] (#767) Cannot load HTML images under 32-bit (many images with the same
URL)
[-] (#804) News of certain RSS-feeds are not displayed correctly)
[-] (#0001415) Wrong Created date if DATE is missing in the message headers
[-] (#0001425) Add wizards to find and manage duplicates in address book
[-] (#0001428) Link surrounded by "<" or ">" not correctly parsed

I don't know if this is of any importance: the culprit is an IMAP account
hosted by Gmail, the type @my.domain.it (not @gmail.com) where my.domain.it is
a domain hosted by Google. These are my email settings for that account in TB:

Mail server: imap.gmail.com
User: myn...@my.domain.it
Authentication: OAUTH (using web browser)
Connection: Secure to dedicated port (TLS) - Port 993

SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
Authentication: Perform SMTP authentication
Same user/password as for mail retrieval
Connection: Secure to dedicated port (TLS) - Port 465

The last Voyager working version with that account is 8.2.4.3. Problem only
occurs with all following versions.

Oh no. Again! This time the Oauth process stops after accepting the password,
when asking that The Bat would like to read and send email, view contacts etc.
Now these are the possibilities (sorry if the English button labels are
different, I'm translating from the Italian version):

- The "Accept" button seems to work but the same request keeps on coming again
and again, I'm not getting anywhere by pressing it repeatedly.

- The "Refuse" button works, the response is correct ("You denyed access to
the application"), but from here I can't go anywhere, because...

- The "Cancel" button is available but it always brings me back me to the
permission request.

- The close window button [X] on the upper right corner of the window works,
but it brings me back to the Google "choose account to login" request. From
here the cancel button works, and it loops back to the same request.

- The Ok button is never available, in any of the above situations (always
grayed out)

My only possibility to keep on working with email is to kill the Voyager
process with Windows Task Manager and downgrade, reinstalling version 8.2.4.3.
This is getting weird.

Already got here the hint that only the 32 bit version of ASS works
with Voyager. And because I for many years only had the 65 bit at my

warning is persistant. It's not possible to close the window with the "cancel"
button, the only solution is to kill The Bat process entirely.

Again, I had to downgrade to version 8.2.4.3. As soon as I reinstall that, the
problem vanishes completely, I can login to the same account without any
request whatsoever.

What can I do to help you solve this problem? Which kind of information might
you need?

Executables can get corrupted. Reinstalling can fix that about half the time.
So reinstall is the first thing to try.

Maybe we should improve The Bat! in such a way that if any access violation is
registered within a few seconds after program starts, all plugins are removed
and a message is given to the user?

If you use AntispamSniper, then uninstall it and see whether that makes any
difference.

If the above doesn't help, then open the shortcut's properties, switch to the
tab "Shortcut" and add the /nologo parameter into the "Target" field separated
by a space, so that it looks like this:

"C:\Program Files\The Bat!\thebat64.exe" /nologo

Does The Bat! start then?

Message base Voyager

2018-06-07 Thread Gunivortus Goos
Hello,

Because of major problems with The Bat latest Beta, and Windows 10 Pro 64 bit
in the
1803 upgrade, I cannot use TB anymore at my desktop pc, I have to write mail
now
with Voyager at my tablet. After starting TB the program closes again
before I even can open it.
Synchronizing the message base is not possible, for that TB at the desktop pc
needs to
work (which does not). So, I thought to copy the entire message base from pc to
tablet,
overwriting there part of the message base. But where the heck is the message
base from
Voyager located? Don't see such a folder.
