questions before switching over from Outlook
I keep my eyes set on TB and evaluate it periodically because I'd like to switch over from Outlook. Version 2.1.01 comes pretty close to what I need, but I have have some concerns, the main one being that IMAP is buggy. I also have some questions: 1. What is the best way to quote html messages so that html is actually preserved? - When I use %Quotes, html gets completely filtered out, some words run together in the quoted text, and other oddities. - When I cut html from the viewer and paste it into the html editor all I get is simple text. So, is there some way at all to reuse html from a received message? 2. Are other users using external html editors? which ones? how? 3. Is there a way to collect incoming mail from several POP3 accounts into one single POP3 inbox folder? Mind that I want to be able to use sorting office _incoming_ mail filters on this folder, so a common folder won't do because it doesn't support incoming mail filters. What I'd like to be able to do is to redirect all POP3 accounts into one inbox so I don't have to redefine the same set of filters for each account, just one set for the combined inbox. 4. Is the MailTicker supported for IMAP accounts? It doesn't work here. thanks --sgp Current version is 2.10.01 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

The same appears to go for accounts. - You need to make sure that both machines are using the same files! I spent a frustrating 1/2 hour on one occasion wondering why my new messages would not appear on the target machine until I realised that I had not connected the network cable, so the machine was using an old synchronisation file! Re: I have a problem..
Hello kaishaku, On Sun, 18 Apr 2004 you wrote in mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Thought it is rather irrelevant, my latest backup for TB mail was all the way back in late summer 2003, primarily because it is such a large backup for me. I know some people will mention that, but I am not concerned with them. Incremental backups, that would save a lot of time and I'm sure there are many like you who have large message bases. I set Second copy to back up at night. The fact is TB has always been frail. As are all programmes at times, depending on what they are interacting with on a particular PC. TB is still frail. I think it's getting better and better and, although they are introducing lots of new features where I agree bugs should be a higher priority, the bugs are slowly going too (I think!) So, now I am really having problems and am about prepared to simply change the way in which I was using e-mail. This goes against my own principles as a computer user and programmer, to change myself because of software. I am just as much a TB user as the next guy, so I won't accept childish antagonistic replies telling me to just leave or dont use TB. Read what I have said and feel free to express similar feelings. Things do go wrong, for lots of people as the threads here and in TBETA show, but I've personally never had a really big crash or lost lots of mail (which I keep backed up anyway). Finally, if you have recommendations, let's hear them. This includes recommending e-mail clients for me to use instead. Well it seems that you have a bit of a problem with every mail client that you use. If TB is really that bad I can't understand why you are staying with it and why don't you just move to Becky. Those who do allow it are often revered and often have the best product anyway. That's it. I'm not a PC wizard but I've tried both Eudora and Becky and very quickly chose TB, warts and all, as it far outshines the others IMHO. Now, sincere recommendations? I look forward to your $200 offering but I don't think you'll get many takers as it'll have to be way better than TB (a very difficult thing in itself) which sells for a quarter of your projected price. -- Regards, Richard | Using The Bat! 2.10.01 SpamPal | Windows 2000 (build 2195), version 5.0 Service Pack 4 Current version is 2.10.01 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

I've never had any need or interest in sending HTML email, so I can't offer any suggestions. 3. Is there a way to collect incoming mail from several POP3 accounts into one single POP3 inbox folder? Filter question
Hi Bat Users, I use TB! filters to search for pn# in e-mails when they arrive. The problem is not everybody writes them as the should, or how the manufacturer uses them. The result is a number of variations. Here is an example - 23456-B21 - 23456 B21 - 23456b21 I have the feeling I could use regex here instead of listing all the possible variations. My question is can this be doen and what impact will this have in the filtering speed. Mother of all common folders Autocomplete cycler wanted
Hi all, What determines the 'mother account' of a common folder ? I've got 4 or 5 accounts and I've noticed that one specific account is used for sending messages from common folders. Consequently messages sent from such folders end up in the sent folder of an account which used to be my main account, but today is a minor account that I hope to stop using at some point. Is there a way to control this behaviour ? Another thing I've wondered about is whether the autocomplete results of the address field can be cycled somehow? You know, when I write the beginning of an address and autocomplete kicks in, often it picks one of several addresses beginning with that string - and often not the one I am looking for :) So far I've just had to keep on filling in the address until the string becomes unique. But I really like autocomplete and I miss a way to cycle through the results of autocomplete. The previous versions of BayesIt assumed that on the first start (during installation from The Bat! menu settings, for example), user will configure the filter and assign all important settings (like path to the working folder and so on). Since in 0.5 the filter assumes these settings itself, user actually need only to check them. But unfortunately the old behaviour still works when you install plugin from The Bat! configuration menu. It is simple deprecated behaviour, but actually it can be treated as a bug, because it can confuse. So, the 0.5.3 was released. Version 0.5.3 [http://www.ritlabs.com/download/bayesit/bayesit053.rar] (20.04.2004) - when installing from The Bat! preferences menu it was necessary to configure the filter manually. Now it assumes all default settings itself. - The window about can't create folder were shown in some false cases. + The filter assumes it's interface language during installation and tries to load appropriate language from the file bayesit.lng. The file is checked in the filter's working folder, filter's program folder, The Bat's program folder and finaly in the main The Bat! mail folder. * some strings in English interface were changed and official source files for translators are now commited to CVS.
