I noticed that your picture is in the latest rogues.zip file but your picture is not showing up in emails you send. In order to get your picture to be seen by others, they need to make sure they have the latest rogues.zip file. Also, you need to do one of two things (the first of which is preferred): 1. Place your roguemoticon in the X-Rogue header (instructions courtesy of Leif Gregory): You can do that with this macro: %SetHeader(X-Rogue,:your_handle:)%- in your templates for this and other tb-lists. However, only the macro won't do the trick. TB'll say: 'Hey, that's no RFC822 header', so you'll have to define it as such: Options - Preferences - Messages - Message headers - 'Add' Now you'll get a pop-up to define the header Display as: X-Rogue (or whatever, it isn't very important) RFC header: X-Rogue Uncheck: 'This field is an address list' (because it isn't) Check: 'Allow this field to be edited in the message editor' Uncheck: 'Display this field in the scrollable part of the header pane' 2. You can simply place your handle in your signature. I can see that your handle is, :Peter_Ballantyne: Place that (including the colons) in your signature. However, people who use the plain text viewer to read their email won't see your picture. That is why method #1 is preferred. -- Rick The next greatest place to heaven on earth? Re: Edit shortcuts doesn't work
Dear Robin, @28-Jul-2004, 12:54 +1000 (28-Jul 03:54 UK time) Robin Anson said to Marck: Perhaps a new shortcut key has been added that clashes with one you redefined earlier? Indeed, that is what the problem was. The question I have now is why did that cause the error? That's one I can't answer. 'Because' is as far as I get. ... snip thing. Is the shortcut monitoring system really smart enough to know that the clash between the CTRL-SHIFT-R that I had defined to be reply to all and the same key combination TB! now defaults to for Connection Centre was a significant conflict?? Well, yes. And I would guess that it's not that hard to program. A shortcut could assigned to a control ID, and not just a menu option. Thus multiple definitions for the same ID are permissible but sharing a key between two different IDs is not. -- Cheers -- //.arck D Pearlstone --List moderator and fellow end user TB! v2.12.03 on Windows XP 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1 ' pgpKQnv24eAGJ.pgp Description: PGP signature Current version is 2.12.00 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

New Mail Sound
In the two years I've been using The Bat, I've never managed to get the New Mail Notification Sound working the way I'd like. There are always some messages that are treated opposite of what I want (sound when I want silence or silence when I want sound). It seems that if I disable sound for the account, then I can NEVER have sound played for any messages, even when their filters explicitly say to play a sound. It also seems that if I enable sound for the account, then it is almost impossible to convince a filtered message to *NOT* play a sound. I say this because the 'Play Sound' action is UNCHECKED BY DEFAULT in new filters, yet they ALWAYS play the new mail sound! The best I've been able to come up with is to set the 'sound allowed' time to 5:59-6:00am only. Unfortunately, even this doesn't always seem to work. Any suggestions on how to have all of the filters I have set to 'mark read' the matching messages to be SILENT when new mail arrives for them? And conversly, to have the others play the new mail sound? And FWIW, while I cannot currently think up an easier way to adjust all of the filters, the existing way is painful at best. I must manually go down the list one at a time, look at the TOP action (mark read) to decide how I want the BOTTOM action (play sound) to be set. -- nurbles Current version is 2.12.00 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

The Bat! 2.12.00 and Exchange 2000 Server (e-mail and address book)
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi TBUDL, I work at Xerox UK and like most large companies we use Exchange Server for corporate e-mail and Outlook (XP) as the client. As I had a spare few minutes today waiting for some files to copy I decided to download and install the latest version of TB! to try out the Exchange Server support (MAPI). Setting up e-mail was very easy which I was happy about however I had some issues with the global address book. This is why I am posting this :) I tried searching Google however it didn't turn up much which was a shame. The problem I was having was that I could not get a complete listing from the server. I worked out that if I searched for somebody e.g. 'Pugh, Morgan' w/o the quotes it would find me no problem however it would not automatically download the whole address book which was what I wanted. Does anyone know if it is possible to download the whole address book and then just every now and then do a sync or something similar? I would love to be able to use TB! at work as well as at home (more money for RitLabs as well!). Is the problem just that TB! only supports LDAP and not the Exchange Address Book system? That seems a little strange as, IIRC, the Exchange address book uses MAPI also. Has anyone else managed to get the whole address book from an exchange server in TB! ? The POP protocol doesn't have a flag for already read. I read this email account via TB, i.e. POP download. When I open the webinterface, all messages are marked as unread, because I didn't read them with the webinterface previously. TB keeps an internal list of messages that it has already downloaded, so they won't be downloaded again. Re: New Mail Sound
Hello nurbles, snipped quite a bit Any suggestions on how to have all of the filters I have set to 'mark read' the matching messages to be SILENT when new mail arrives for them? And conversly, to have the others play the new mail sound? The reason you get a sound for all or most incoming messages is because when having sound enabled at account level any message coming into the Inbox (or going through it before being moved by a filter) will trigger the new mail sound. This is what id do: - Disable sound at account level. - Create a folder called MyInbox and another one called MyInbox2. - Don't use any sounds at filter level. - Assign a sound to MyInbox folder and select Use own sound settings - Disable any sound in MyInbox2 folder. - Now, what filters that should trigger a sound actually do is to move the new message to MyInbox and those that shouldn't trigger a sound are moved to MyInbox2. My actual setup is a bit more complicated (I filter to more folders) but the basic idea is what I have explained. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Whew! I'm back then?
Thank you Mary and Richard for reassuring me. Thought I'd disappeared into some dark void where all those email massages that never make it to their intended destination seem to go, slipping quietly through little worm holes in space. There's just gotta be a little planet somewhere out there where they keep all those cheap Biros company. (With apologies to the late Douglas Adams). -- Peter in New Zealand. Can't send mail thru TB
Hi, Marck, Leif, and all y'all, I've been gone a long time, but as they say, I'm ba-a-ack. I've got the new version of TB! and it's been working just fine (for several months) until yesterday. Suddenly, I can receive mail but not send it--any of it, from any of my three accounts. The message I get is Did not send message--server relaying denied. Of my three accounts, one is forwarded from a Web-based mail (fastmail, which is why I can send this--thru the Web interface); but none of the three can send. I've checked all the settings and they're all correct. I've not changed any of my settings and TB! has free access through my firewall (ZoneAlarm--and this happens even when ZA is shut down). I'm using W2K Pro (no change there). I've experienced this previously, but only intermittently--maybe once every few months, and then closing the program and opening it again usually fixed it. I emailed bugs, though it's not really a bug, but didn't receive any response. This time, closing, re-opening, and even re-booting makes no difference: I just can't send mail. I've looked through the archives and not found anything applicable, but I'd be surprised if somewhere in the list expertise, someone hasn't seen this before. I hope so, because my livelihood depends on email! :) Any advice will be most gratefully accepted, and may all your spaghetti have good meatballs! Have you changed your connection to the Internet? You will usually get that message if you are connected to the Internet through one ISP, and try to use the SMTP server of another. Another possibility is that your SMTP server will only send mail if you have authenticated by receiving mail first. See if setting Use POP before SMTP authentication is set, and if not try this (Account - Properties - Transport - Send mail authentication). -- Robin Anson Using The Bat! v2.12.00 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 1 Running [EMAIL PROTECTED] (see: www.setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu) No of SETI units returned: 304 Processing time: 1 years, 249 days, 11 hours. Sorted, I think
I may have been a silly boy and hit the reply button when wanting to respond to a particular post. That seems to can my roguemoticon. If I do it as a new message, as this one is, all seems OK. -- Peter in New Zealand. Current version is 2.12.00 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
