Fonts

2011-08-04 Thread Jack S. LaRosa
Greetings Batties,

Once again I have changed something (in this case a font)
and don't remember how/where I did it. I've spent the last
hour looking for where this change was made in the hopes I wouldn't have to
bother the list again but... alas, I can't find it.

Just for clarification, the Window Split mode I'm using is Full-Width Preview
pane which looks like this:

-
| | |
| | |
| | |
| A | B |
| | |
| | |
-
| |
| |
| |
| C |
| |
| |
-

Where A is the account tree, B is the list of emails contained in whichever
account folder is selected in the account tree and C is the contents of
whichever email is selected.

The font in C is the one in question and as I compose this email I see that
it's also the font being used in this New Message. I have been through
Account Properties, Folder Properties and OptionsPreferences without success.

Even though Account Properties and Folder properties both have an option to
change the font on New Message, making a change from the apparent default
Courier New, has no effect and when you look at it again, it's back to
Courier New as though you never changed it. I'm not even sure that this font
being used now is actually Courier New.

Any help will of course be greatly appreciated.

Jack LaRosa

What about

That's the place I need to go to change fonts too. I have recently
messed with (upgraded) cpu, memory, OS (to Windows 7) and video card.
I can see that there is a font face and size box, but I cannot get
to them. They are off the bottom of the box and I cannot seem to
figure out how to get to them.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thom.

That did it. My error lay in the fact that apparently
*some* font changes DO NOT require a TB! shutdown restart
where this particular one does. I had actually changed this
font and expected it to appear changed as soon as I closed
the font-change window. When it did not, I assumed I was
changing the wrong font.

I'm thinking a SAVE/RESTORE PARAMETERS function might come
in handy sometimes for people like me who don't pay
attention to what they're doing.

Thank you Roelof.

While this may not help you, I've found myself in similar
situations and subsequently learned my problems lay in the
desktop screen properties. Close all windows (Windows
key+D) and right-click anywhere on the desktop. Select
PROPERTIES and either or both of the tabs APPEARANCE or
SETTINGS can have the effect you describe.

Hopefully someone with considerably more knowledge that I
will also respond to your query.

Oops. I'm sure you've found out by now that (Windows key)+D
actually minimizes, not closes all open windows.

Sorry about that.

I have a dual monitor system with the monitor in question running at
1680x1050, it's native mode. I tried changing the resolution to
1440x900, but there was no change: the dialog box seems truncated and
I cannot figure out how to enlarge it. There's a screen shot of this

I can just reach the font box and raise a list of possible fonts, but
no changes stick.

I would appreciate any other suggestions.
