I often see this pattern in spam: From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] and so forth. For example, I received a spam with the From: line: From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] where they are clearly taking the first part of my address and adding that to @stockscenter.net since the spam was about buying stocks. The spam actually says Visit our web site @__ since they don't want you to use e-mail to communicate with them, since none of the e-mail addresses are theirs. Even the first Received from header's IP address can just be a relay point. Trying to report spammers doesn't work - they just move somewhere else. Spammers send spam because some people buy the stuff, and as long as that continues, so will they. Only two things work - the less effective one is using spam software to filter your mail and then delete the spam after scanning the titles/senders for real e-mails. The only effective one is changing your e-mail address, and then not using it on the web or in newsgroups. -- Cheers, Ken Using The Bat! v2.02.3 CE on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 1 Current version is 2.02.3 CE | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
HTML not creating links
Hello, I received a monthly newsletter in HTML, with a link that is referenced by clicking on an image. Now, unlike many newbies, I don't expect The Bat! to show the image, but isn't it a bug if it doesn't make that area (with the red X) into a link, the same as a browser would do with the actual image? Here is an example (with web address changed): a href=http://www.blah.org/merchant/new.html;img src=http://blah.biz/merchant/moreinfo.gif; width=77 height=17 border=0/a If that same href were attached to a text, it would be clickable, so why not make the 77x17 box with the red X clickable ? PS Has this been reported to the bug/enhancement database before? -- Cheers, Ken Using The Bat! v2.02.3 CE on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 1 Current version is 2.02.3 CE | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Column Fonts
Hello, Is there a way in The Bat! to change the font size of the Column headings? I would like to make the Column headings for both the Folder List and the Message (Index) List to be smaller than the font for the actual folder names and actual message subjects, etc. This is especially true for the Folder Unread and Total columns which I really want to only be a little over two characters wide. So, if it is the same font size, I obviously can't get the whole text of the column headings. -- Thanks, Ken Current version is 2.02.3 CE | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Suppress Resent-From: Header?
Hello, In e-mail clients, I am always using the equivalent of resend or redirect commands to: - Send another copy of a message a couple of days later if I have not received a reply - in case it was never received, or else just to remind the recipient that I am waiting for a reply. - Send another copy of a message later to a different recipient, if I received a reply indicating that the first person cannot help me with that question. The Bat! seems to add a Resent-From header when one does this, and this is a problem for me, because I am using templates to pick the proper From: header which often is not the same as the e-mail address in my basic Account. Often the purpose of using different addresses is to avoid giving my main e-mail address at my ISP to sources that might pass it on to spammers (usually unintentionally). Dealing with the Resent-From header is even more of a problem since it does appear in the Editor window. And my use probably does not fit the intended purpose of such a header. So, is there any way I can suppress this header altogether? -- Cheers, Ken Current version is 2.02.3 CE | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
