Where would you archive them to? If you are reaching your Gmail size limit, you'll need another account to move them to. This could be done with filters. I have subscribed to all folders except All Mail. I'm not a massive Gmail user and this was done many moons ago so I can't remember how this came about. I believe that Gmail's IMAP implementation is not like everyone else's in that Gmail stores all mail in a single folder and use Labels to separate it out. It then presents these separate labels as separate IMAP folders. Multiple messages can have multiple Labels and then appear in multiple IMAP folders. [Later] I have just discovered for myself that in Gmail web browser you can click on Setting/Labels and manage which labels Gmail will present to IMAP clients using the 'Show In IMAP' checkbox. Hello MFPA, If you go to Folder | Maintenance Centre, you can click select all to select all the folders (or/and tick a box for each folder you wish to select or de-select), tick boxes for which of the four maintenance actions () you wish to perform on all the selected folders, then click start. RE: Secure E-mail again!
They may have specified port 587 for SSL, but for TLS the port should be 465 as The Bat! automatically selects. This works fine with German 1und1, and it has done so for years, so I suggest you try that port too. Port 587 is submission, and it uses either no encryption, or STARTTLS (SSL/TLS might work, but usually doesn't). Port 465 is smtps, and it always uses SSL or TLS. Note that some Microsoft's programs incorrectly call STARTTLS just TLS. -- Jernej Simončič http://eternallybored.org/ Thanks Peter, thanks Jernej, Unfortunately the plot thickens - none of the combinations of port settings, TLS/STARTTLS/REGULAR dropdowns with or without 'Must use Secure Communications' set behind this works with this provider in The Bat! Hello Tony, Friday, March 15, 2013, 5:32:20 PM, you wrote: Hello Tbudl, How can I delete addresses offered on the address drop down when addressing a new email? According to TBUDL archove, I should simply select the address and hit the Delete key. This doesn't work for me. Another post said to delete it on the Addresses Tab. The offending address is not there to be deleted. There is also strange behaviour of the address list drop down: * The list appears to be in random order * TB picks and highlight a random entry each time * Sometime and entry is copied into the address without highlighting. How is it meant to work? Talking to myself ... After much messing around, it seems that you *can* delete history this way BUT the addresses that appear in the drop down are in fact from the address book - which can't be deleted. You need to hit the double down arrow to get the history. TB does not honour the Add Items to the Instant Address Popup setting in the Group Properties. Therefore, all address book addresses appear in the drop down. What's more, if the address is a member of multiple address book groups, then it will appear multiple times - each time rendered slightly differently. E.g. David 'David' 'David...' A single address appearing multiple times makes sense because each group can have its own templets, character set, etc. but there is no indication which address come from which group. Finally, the address that TB decides to put into the To: seems to be a total mystery. -- Best regards, Tonymailto:t...@parkinch.co.uk The Bat! 5.3.8.4 (BETA) Current version is 5.2.2 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Amazing! -- Ed Ed, Here's what I do as I have so many PDAs (Reviewer Tester!)... I have my own domain which may mean things are slightly easier but I forward all my incoming mail from my domain to a free service such as Mail2Web. That gives me two instances of my mail - one at my domain and one at the free POP or Exchange Push service. I then set the PC to download from the domain and will always have a copy there but when on the road or using/testing the PDAs I use the free POP service to collect the mail and it then has no impact on my main domain base of messages (including The Bat!). If I send anything from the PDA, I just CC/BCC my normal address in so it appears in the Inbox on the PC. Naturally this works for me and depends on whether you can forward e-mails to another source but it works for me. Corrupt message base
Hello Tbudl, The Bat 4.0.7 All was fine until a reboot. After the reboot all extra message folders are gone. Leaving me with the default The Bat folders. When I look inside the Bats directory in Program Files I see the missing directories. I tried the repair option but that didn't help. I restored from a rather old backup and all the folders are back. Except for one folder that I created yesterday and put some recent stuff in I want back. All is lost when restoring a backup you might say. But somehow the folder is still there somewhere hidden Let me explain. I created a folder MyFolder as an normal folder under Inbox. Then I used Ctrl+Shift+Left to move the folder 'to the left' Not sure how that's called. i hope you understand. After the restore I successfully created MyFolder again. But when I try to move it out using Ctrl+Shift+Left the Bat give an error that it can't rename the file. Any other folder name works fine. Re: Vista RTM
Hello Jernej, JS Some time ago (very soon after Vista RTM was released to MSDN subscribers), JS a few people I know compared Vista with XP on a 1GHz Via C3 system. With all JS effects disabled, Vista still needed 30% CPU when *idle*, compared to XP, JS which needed 2-5%.. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying Vista uses little resources. I just say MS has quality marketing that makes people believe otherwise. About the 5%... Vista isn't really launched for the main public right now. Like always MS will start heavy advertising and they start to sell. It worked that way with all Windows versions. JS It might sell with new systems (because XP won't be available anymore to JS OEMs), but I doubt many existing customers will switch from XP to Vista. I don't know the ratio OEM to normal licences. Almost all OEMs + some normal licences + warez = a lot I think. You JS Intel? Intel was hiding that it's CPUs supported long mode for a long long JS time. The 64-bit CPUs where way to expensive for home use. Until now ATM Intels 64-bit CPUs are about the same price as their 32-bit ones. So I see no reason to buy 32-bit. My guess is that the 32-bit CPUs get fased out soon. JS You're confusing IA64 and x64 CPUs. IA64 was Intel and HP's joint CPU JS design, incompatible with existing x86 CPUs, primarily meant for server JS market (where it never really took off). x84 (or, to be precise, AMD64) is JS AMD's 64bit upgrade to the existing x86 (IA32) CPU architecture. Intel at JS first didn't want to support it at all, since it didn't see any reason for JS desktop computing to move to 64 bits, while it wanted it's own IA64 JS technology for the server market. However, it turned out that AMD's vision JS was right, and Intel very quietly licensed their technology and added it to JS the Pentium4 CPUs - but kept it disabled for a long time (and when they JS finally enabled the long mode on P4's, it was still hard to know in advance JS if you'll get a 64bit capable CPU, unless you looked really hard on Intel's JS website for CPU model numbers). Itanium was not a desktop chip (besides being incompatible) The 64-bit functionality on other CPUs was either not there , switched of or kept silent. AMD did beat Intel to it but XP got all kind of delays in the 64-bit release. I remember the gossip that Intel made/asked MS to delay XP 64-bit to catch up. So I think we agree here. 64-bit CPUs didn't exist or where a well kept secret for the consumer market. (and not much choice in motherboard either besides brands like SuperMicro) For now I stick with Win XP Pro with classical view because I hate that gamecomputer interface. JS You can easily disable useless eye-candy in Vista, too - it's just that JS there's still so much happening in background, that your CPU is never really JS idle. Disabling the eye-candy is the 1st thing I do for sure. But first I need to convince myself the benefits of Vista. Eye-candy, resource hog and DRM crap aren't exactly benefits. (possibly) wider know 64-bit versions are good but not without 64-bit programs. Stability XP is very stable here. Security... well MS you know. Already a (backward compatible) exploit Personally every step I make hard and software wise will be toward 64-bit. But I have no hurry because although I see the 64-bit platform have potential it still has to mature (software wise) A happy New Year to all. -- Best regards, Tony How can sweet and sour sauce be sweet and sour at the same time?
