[In Reply to: »Jack S. LaRosa« · 2014-09-25 · 15:40 h (CET)] Moin, Jack et al.! […] The old HP laptop is running Win 7 and the new ASUS is loaded with Win 8 or 8.1. Not sure which. […] The last answer to Mike's question was the one posted by Thomas Fernandez where Thomas states that backing up TB to a safe place, loading the installer on the new machine and then when run, apparently the installer will ask if you want to restore from backup. So, the questions are these: a) Is this the best way to achieve the move? Yes, I think so, too. b) We're both running ver 5.2 and I find that I no longer have the MSI file. The archived versions of TB list TB Home 5.8.8 as the closest to 5.2. Are there any major differences between 5.2 and 5.88? AFAIK no. c) Will my wife's key block work on 5.8.8? Yes. d) Is 5.8.8 going to run in Win 8. AFAIK yes. e) What questions haven't I thought of? That the second e) must be f). ;-) e) Should I just cut my throat now? Definitely not. ツ Cheers! The textbody must *not* be modified *before* you change the subject line. That would probably kill it for me - unless the thread was already not related to the subject line, I would only decide to change it if my contribution took it in a different direction. If it would ever be implemented, it should be Re: BETA (was: 4.0.0.19) Good idea! - My favorite news client (40tude Dialog) does so, too: If you edit the subject line of a reply the client sets the original subject in brackets like above. I found a (quite good) solution for this problem: a) Semiautomatic - Create a Quicktemplate and (out of convenience) assign a shortcut: %If:%Subj%OSubj:%Subject='Re: %Subj (was: %OSubj)':%Subj - Reply to a message and edit the Subject line - Hit Shortcut - Be happy! :-) b) Automatic - Include the macros in your reply template: %If:%Subj%OSubj:%Subject='Re: %Subj (was: %OSubj)':%Subj - Reply to a message and edit the Subject line - Be happy! :-) Pro solution a): You can run the QT at any time even if the textbody of the new message is already modified. Pro solution b): The macros run really automatically! :-) But there are two limitations: 1. The template must not contain the macro: %ModifyOnce(Subject) 2. The textbody must *not* be modified *before* you change the subject line. Maybe some of you like this solution, too. ;-) Cheers! Re: automatic line wrapping issues
[Reply to: »Paul Berger« · 2009-03-31 · 07:32 h (CET)] Moin, Paul! The point is, the wrapping only works when you are typing the paragraph from scratch. When you go back to edit a paragraph, all the wrapping gets broken and messed up. Why can't it dynamically wrap everything like any other text editor would do? Is there a setting somewhere? It is Alt-L within the paragraph to reformat. It would be good if this can be set to autoformat. Well, Auto-format actually does the trick as long as one is *adding* characters or words. [Reply to: »George Mitchell« · 2008-03-19 · 07:30 h (CET)] Moin, George! Why should I not move parked messages and keep the Parked flag? You can't have a message be parked and moved at the same time. It would be like having a door locked and open it the same time. I think what people, myself included, are looking for is something like the Agent newsreader's Keep flag which just prevents against accidental deletion/purging. Just because I want to protect a message doesn't mean I don't want to organize it. Moving parked messages (was: some questions)
[Reply to: »Rick Grunwald« · 2008-03-18 · 18:13 h (CET)] Moin, Rick! AFAIK there is no option to keep the Parked status. Maybe a filter could be a workaround, but I don't know how, yet. – I think you should file a wish to Bugtracker. I would support. :-) Is not the purpose of parking a message to keep you from accidentally deleting or moving it. Is it so? I don't know. Does Parking only mean to keep one from deleting a message or does it mean to keep one from deleting *and* moving a message? Why should I not move parked messages and keep the Parked flag? I would think the work around would be to unpark it. This is the status quo when moving a parked message and confirming the warning. You get a message asking you if you really want to move a parked message and it will allow it. I think it is working as designed I bet it is working as designed, but I am not convinced that the design is completely user friendly: I sometimes move a bunch of messages (parked and unparked) from one folder to another. I confirm the warning and have to go through all the messages to find the ones which need to be parked again. Cheers! Re: Moving parked messages
[Reply to: »Stuart Cuddy« · 2008-03-18 · 21:50 h (CET)] Moin, Stuart! I am with you on this one. It is often very difficult to find the parked message once you move it. I would also support the wish you are going to file. ;) So you really think that I should make even more friends on TBBeta Mailing List as I did in the past? ;-) Cheers! [Reply to: »Luc« · 2008-03-18 · 22:25 h (CET)] Moin, Luc! VA In message editor's menu uncheck: View|Original text Ah right, but that means that the preview disappears. I was wondering if there was a way to keep the preview but alter the background (colour and text colour). OIC – Now I get you. No, I don't think that you can change the colors. I am not sure why this error occurs. Maybe because you hit the reply button in Tony's message and edited the subject line!? Re: Fix the size of the name column in Folder Tree
[Reply to: »MAU« · 2008-03-13 · 14:11 h (CET)] Moin, MAU! Have you tried Options | Preferences | Messages | Limit expansion of the first column to _ levels? No. but I have now. Just perfect. I knew it was somewhere but could not find it. You learn something everyday. I always thought (and believed) that setting was ONLY for the first column of the Message List Pane, and not for the folder tree pane. Hmmm, I justed tested and found out that this setting *only* effects the message list, the folder tree is untouched by this setting. This seems to be correct (aka WAD), because the setting is called Options|Preferences|Messages and not Options|Preferences|Columns. So, I really do not know, how this setting fixed David's problem. Re: Address Book groups and 2+ addresses per contact
[Reply to: »Roelof Otten« · 2008-03-08 · 22:47 h (CET)] Moin, Roelof! I would like to get TheBat! to decide which of those two (or maybe more) addresses it should use depending on the group from which I select the contact to write a new message. It would also be nice if it did that when I write a mail to all contacts in the group (i.e. a meeting invitation or something). Can't be done this way with TB. Best way would be to create unique entries for each address and to place those addresses in the matching group. Yep, you are right. — Another solution could be: - Open address book - Right-click the desired contact - Choose New message to = [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cheers! But this is not a very target-oriented solution for my problem. Anyway thanks for your reply. Cheers!
