IMAP Inbox STUCK!!!
I tried to clean up some IMAP folders: moved messages to a local folder, then attempted to delete the IMAP folders Boy, was that a mistake. My main IMAP account (THIS IS MY BUSINESS E-MAIL) is now somehow stuck - I am NOT receiving messages and the message count will not budge from 39 35 in the Total column. My Inbox shows 1 * in the Unread column - and that message does not show up. I cannot get to it through The Bat. I have tried shutting down TB multiple times and rebooting my computer twice. I have run Folder Maintenance (with all options checked) twice as well. Any ideas? I really thought that using a *RELEASE* version of The Bat would mean only minor annoyances. Guess I was wrong. Does anyone have any ideas? This is crazy. This has happened to me several times. Its an interesting bug, because the unread total remains up to date, but it refuses to retrieve those messages. It knows they are there... kg My Inbox shows 1 in the Unread column - kg and that message does not show up. I cannot kg get to it through The Bat. My unread total kept climbing, and I had to use webmail to read them. Finally, I created a new account, and deleted the old. This was the only way I could get back up and running. I don't even think about filtering incoming mail, because doing so causes this problem for sure. It got to the point where I was creating a new account about once a day. Ridiculous. kg Does anyone have any ideas? This is crazy. I kg have purposely tried not to tax TB with kg anything fancy RE: IMAP (no filtering, etc.) The latest beta seems to be (only just a bit) more stable. Although, I stopped using filters about the same time I installed that, so maybe not. I don't know. They have GOT to get IMAP going soon. I sure wish there were more people complaining about it. I can only conclude either 1) not many on this list use IMAP, and therefor aren't clamoring for improvements, or 2) others haven't experienced these problems to the same extent. I would love to know which... Just an update For the account in question, Connection Center remains stuck on: Status: Retrieving status of mailbox INBOX My other IMAP account is connecting normally. (Status: on-line) I aborted the process and tried Folder Maintenance again. I tried just the Inbox and nothing happened. I tried the account (all folders) and FM ran through, listing IMAP folder compressed after each folder. Hi Peter, PO Quite some users are / have been 'complaining' PO about IMAP items. As you'r a beta user, I PO guess you'r aware of this. Yes, but how can anyone actually use it without such basic functionality as filtering? I spend all day manually dragging TBUDL messages to my TBUDL folder. PO FWIW, some IMAP items related to V2.12b6 which PO was made public some hours ago: Thanks. Hopeful about the new beta, I added a TBUDL filter, left your message in my inbox, and tried manual filtering. Same problem. Remove duplicates still doesn't work either (as always, duplicate messages are created in the inbox of the messages that were to be filtered). Looks like during my IMAP folder cleaning, some of the folders I deleted only got half-deleted. That is, they were removed at the server level but stayed locally in the display, and when TB tried to connect and synch these non-existent folders well, it just didn't work. I killed the connection again, then went to the folders in question and UNSUBSCRIBED. Shut down TB and restarted and all seems fine now. Apparently deleting a folder does not kill the subscription to it, so it may be necessary to unsubscribe before deleting a folder. This is all a tad ironic because I specifically used TB's manage IMAP folders to delete because I *didn't* want to cause problems doing something completely insane like deleting folders at the server level. (I figured that would cause the problem I was getting: TB trying to synch non-existent folders). So.. for now at least... Hi List, I have yet to know if the message base has gone wrong, as is usual. . Confirmed. The previous message I sent could not be moved to the sent mail folder, because of some kind of corruption to the message base. New mail was no longer retrieved, although the unread mail number in the folder view remained accurate. No message bodies were viewable. I would love to know which... How long have you been on this list? :) IMAP complaints have been ongoing (steady) for some time now. The Bat is a truly wonderful POP mail client with *LOTS* of potential to be *THE COMPLETE MAIL CLIENT* when IMAP gets straightened out. That's been said many times before, though...
