JD A right-click Dismiss command would be good

Try right-click Hide

JD but having it dismiss itself when there's no messages scrolling by
JD would be even better.

Agreed, I removed a folder from the ticker display, and ended up
closing TB and reopening it. Not a big hassle as I don't do it often,
but...

That hides it forever. I have to go into Options - Preferences and
set the Display MailTicker property back to Automatically every time I
choose Hide. I only want to hide (dismiss) it until the next batch of
messages come in.

JN messages before the time passes, the ticker disappears.

Are you saying that you set the minimum age to 2 minutes and the
maximum to 4? I tried that and the ticker stopped appearing
alltogether which was slightly confusing to me. Am I misinterpeting
how those properties are used?

Maybe it's a problem with TB! my OS (Windows XP). After the maximum
age limit expires the ticker stays at the top of my screen with just
the number of unread messages and nothing scrolling at all (until new
messages come in).

Sounds like you have set the ticker to always show. Try setting it to
display automatically (under Options-Preferences).

I use that setting together with age limits and it's working great
over here.

Right-click on the ticker when it is on the screen (you may need to
set it to display all the time), and you will find the time settings
under Messages|Age Limits.

btw, been meaning to say it would be nice to have a toggle button
and/or keyboard shortcut for mailticker...

if it's distracting or slwing the system down, I turn it off, but when
I want it back on again it currently takes many steps...

Best regards,
Aaron

Hi Aaron.

At 4:43 PM on Wednesday, June 26, 2002 you wrote the
following about [Mail Ticker properties]:

AG [...] it would be nice to have a toggle button and/or
AG keyboard shortcut for mailticker...

You can assign a system-wide hot key to view Mail Ticker
  messages.

Menu - Options - Define System Hot Keys

Will that do it for you?
