Thank you. I learnt west dancing at 21 in Madurai Railway qrs with the
anglo-Indians; 2 I used to hear the western music at 10 30 PM as a kid when
Chakrapani the news reader was also anchoring the 30 minutes music session
(novak radio valve set). We formed a Music troupe in the college run for 6
years and wound up on the date of marriage on my wedding day when friends
gathered and played; the traffic got jammed and traffic constables came in
and requested to end it if possible. And Rajendraji Salsa itself is a bit
sensuous and methodical since the legs will cross often but one shall never
press each other; and video jennifer Lopez and Richard gere salsa for SWAY
( and MSV copied it in Partha gnabagam illayo), which is not only perfect
but sensuous if looked at so or technical as viewed. Bharatha natyam "
avanai azhaithu vaadi" if you see it as a dance technique will be seen; if
seen otherwise a lady can be seen, In General salsa is for couples to go
near and stay far. A timing in foot steps; Tango is a degree higher and
faster to salsa; this video is Tango advanced salsa. K R IRS 14321

NATAPPU (WALKING STYLE)

2021-03-13 Thread 'gopala krishnan' via Thatha_Patty

NATAPPU (WALKINGSTYLE)

Yesterday I had added a QA about walking in mycultural QA number 10. I thought
at that time itself to write more on walkingby humans and by some animals.
Standing erect and walking is possible for veryfew animals like chimpanzees,
bears etc. However in circus we can see elephantsmade to walk by training on
two legs but not in rectangle with earth.

Now abolished in India, the channel F TV an adult channel, at onetime had
mostly showing walking parade.

Even among humans, there is difference in style ofwalking between different
countries. And even in the same country, there arestyles in walking. A person
walking in parade has a different style. There isdifference in walking between
a doctor and teacher. A police man and a militaryman.  A student and a
youngster. Thoughbeautiful, there is difference between walking among kids.

I recollect an occasion in Badai bungalvu program   in AsianetTV Channel, where
Actor Suraj Venjaramood imitating the walking of different actors.  Let me
continue with different types ofwalking observed by me or generally seen.

Sincerely,

Gopala Krishnan 14-3-2021.

1 Aana Nata (Walkinglike elephant)

Aana nata is told about teenage girls walking justlike the hind legs movements
of an elephant. In fact a male is found makingaananata is looked with fun.

Earlier days men dressing like young women in dramas wereappreciated, just for
the drama. Afterwards they would not walk like that.

I had a school mate girl, walking like that, and atdefinite intervals looking
back to ensure any boy admiring her. I am not sureany elephants look back to
see it’s walking style. If at all because of It’sbig stomach it could not see
the hind legs.

Walking like annam (swan) is also consideredbeautiful. I have read elsewhere
Sita in Ramayana used to walk like swan.

2. Rolling (Urunduvarika)

A stout man without more height would appear asrolling while walking.
Sarcastically, it is common to say while such personsare expected and getting
late- Urunudu varandayo? (He has to roll and come)

3 Majestic walk

Majestic walk meant   a person walking like a king. Now too kingsare there.
Their entire movement has proudness. They have separate style.

I recollect the president’s style for coming formorning breakfast and Manju
varrier getting fainted seeing the formalities, inthe film How old areyou?

4. Somnambulism(walking in sleep)

I have not seen a person walking in sleep except in films. They walk without aim
and directions, eyes almost closed.

5. Slowwalking.

Generally people with less height can walk slow onlycomparing with others.  But
there aremany with good height also who walk slowly. Most women irrespective of
age walkslowly. Some exception can be the physical workers. I am not sure in
Kerala, inTamilnadu, women workers are paid less in construction works, paddy
field worksetc., since their output is less.

6. Speedwalking

In contrast some men walk only with speed. They wouldwalk some distance, wait
for others, if they are going in a group.

7. Kidswalk

Kids walk/run without any directions. Even in straightroad many walk in
haphazard manner like kids.

9 Looking

Except in parades most people though walking straight, they would look to sides
and back. Probably this nature has come from animatequalities to men.

Practically it is impossible to walk for a person withoutlooking to sides and
back.

10 Parallelwalking

If three people are walking together, one can see allthe three walk in
parallelthan one behind another unless decorum is there. An assistant cannot
walk inparallel with Land owner. A subordinate officer would not walk along
withofficer, unless desired by the officer. Other way he would walk behind.

11 Other walks

There are many other types of walk like thieves walk whereattention would be in
many things surrounding.

A carpenter walk would be indirectly directed toplaces where carpenter work is
required. A mason would be looking in to masonryworks.

A teacher would walk calm and composed mostly withsmile. A learnt person would
have his own proud in all walks of life. Some haspride also.

There are styles in the appearance of politicians, andtheir walking. Especially
all the nurses have a style of walking in hospitals.Lady teachers always walk
with smile and chitchatting. It is very difficult tofind a lady teacher serious
and walking alone.

POONKOZHI KOOKIAPPOL-2

(ABOUT SUN RISEWHEN COCK CROWED)

Dearfriends,

Thisis 2nd part of the posting about hen/chicken/cock.  I have changed the
title suggested by SriVenkitaraman Perinthalmanna. I am also thankful to Sri
APS Money for thecorrection of   first  line suggested in  the first part of
the posting.

Letme further go in to interesting details of cock, hen and chick.

Sincerely,

GopalaKrishnan 14-3-2021.

9 Kozhi chekanjathu polae (Like the hensearched for worms)

Normallywhile the hand writing is very bad and like scribbling and not in line
and notlegible, it is often told as a similar to the above.

Iam not able to tell the reason, the hand writing of most present day
childrenand adults of the day are very good/ good or at least satisfactory.
Very fewhand writing now a day we see not legible.

Ihad one of my officers, at Trivandrum whose hand writing was totally
illegible.Even one sentence we could not make out if he writes. So the senior
officersused to call him and discuss so that illegibility do not matter much.
Similarly I had a clerk while at Namakkal. Ifhe writes a letter will be a
protrusion above a line. No letter could belegible.

10. Kozhi thooval as pen

Ihave heard the quality feather of the cock was collected; it’s end was
dippedin ink and used to write before pens were available. But I have never
seen anybodydoing it, though in boyhood days we have written with end of cock
feather forfun after learning of such practice told in the primary class .

11. Use of egg

Duringflooring works(till about 20 years or so) egg was broken and  the fluid
from the egg was added to read oxideor black oxide and added to cement and
stirred for use as adhesive inflooring.  Later Fevicol started using
replacingthis practice .  I have heard in thePadmanabhapuram palace in
Thakkala, the black floorings were made usingcharcoal, egg fluid and kummayam.
(Shells)

12. Generally about chicken

Thechicken biologically called Gallus domesticus is a domesticated fowl,
asubspecies of the Red Jungle fowl. The male chicken is called Cock or rooster
and female as hen.

It is one of the most common and widespreaddomestic species.  It is told there
are more chickensin the world than any other species of bird. Humans keep
chickensprimarily as a source of food, consuming both their meat and their
eggs.

13. Initially cock was not for meat oregg!!!

Thetraditional poultry farming view of the domestication of the chicken is
statedin Encyclopaedia Britannica (2007): "Humans first domesticated chickens
ofIndian origin for thepurpose of cockfighting in Asia, Africa, and Europe.
Very little formalattention was given to egg or meat production... (Source-
wikipedia)

14. Origin and spreading

Theorigin of coke is said to be from India. From India the domesticated fowl
madeits way to the Persianized kingdom of Lydia in western Asia Minor, and
domesticfowl were imported to Greece by the fifth century BC. Fowl had been
known inEgypt since the 18th Dynasty, with the "bird that lays every day"
having cometo Egypt from the land between Syria and Shinar, Babylonia,
according to theannals of Tutmose III

15, Pullets and cockerels

Inthe UK and Ireland adult male chickens are primarily known as cocks, whereas
inAmerica, Canada and Australia they are more commonly called roosters.
MALESUNDER A YEAR OLD ARE COCKERELS.

Females over a year old are known as hens, andYOUNGER FEMALES ARE PULLETS.
Sometimes the babies are also called as chicks, and the meat is commonlycalled
as chicken.

16. What was the original name of cocksand chickens?

Thespecies as a whole was then called domestic fowl, or just fowl.

17. General biology and habitates

Chickensare omnivores. In the wild, they often scratch at the soil to search
for seeds, insects and even larger animals such as lizards or young mice.

Theadult rooster can be distinguished from the hen by his larger comb (Poo –
reddish in the colour onthe head)

Chickensmay live for five to ten years, depending on the breed.

Incommercial intensive farming, a meat chicken generally lives six weeks
beforeused for meat use. I am adding it because it is general information. Hens
ofspecial laying breeds may produce as many as 300 eggs a year. After 12
months, the hen'segg-laying ability starts to decline, and commercial laying
hens arethen used for meat use.

18. Guinness book of world records

Theworld's oldest chicken, a hen, died of heart failure at the age of 16
according to the GuinnessBook of World Records. (From wikipedia)

19. Identification of roosters.

Roosterscan usually be differentiated from hens by their striking plumage of
long flowing tails and shiny, pointed feathers on their necks (hackles) and
backs (saddle) whichare typically of brighter, bolder colours than those of
females of the samespecies.

Theidentification must be made by lookingat the comb, or eventually from the

2021-03-13 Thread 'gopala krishnan' via Thatha_Patty

VELUKKAN AAYAPPOM

PIDAKKOZHI KOOVIAPPOL 1

(ABOUT SUN RISE WHEN HEN CLUCKED)

 Dear friends,

For a long period due to Covid19, I was mostly keeping inside and NO morning
walk.   About onemonth back I have started again my morning walk in early
morning. I walk in theearly morning wearing   mask, applying sanitizer in hands
along the nearbystreets where people walking are lesser for about ten minutes.

Today I was walking in a nearby streetwhere the cocks were   crowing and hens
and chickens were clucking.

I thought today my posting can beabout Hen and cock (Pitaand poovan KOZHI in
Malayalam.) Hen is the female.  Hens and cocks are   domesticated birds, and
hen’s egg is anexcellent food item. They have lesser life period. They are also
used for meatwidely. On earlier days there were night shelter for them called
coop orhenhouse. Now in many homes they spent night in portico or back side in
manyhouses in medium city houses. Some houses have coop.  It is called
Kozhikkoodu in Malayalam. Nowadayssome bigger houses have large coop.

When a person constructs a smallhouse others used to say- appearlike hen house.

Some people use to domesticatehens similar to parrots as a bird. I have not
seen an iyer home domesticatinghen, but it was a common scene in our iyer
homes, they come from nearby houses, walking, eating their food items from the
premises and keep the premises neatof worms etc. I havenot seen our iyer
mammies drive away the hen. Sometimes the eggs laid were soldto shops and it
brought money to iyer homes. It was an unwrittenrule that if an egg is laid on
other’s premises, the owner has no right on thategg.

Now most of the hens are inPoultry farms, and some places like NAMAKKAL is
famous for the poultry   farms. Tons of eggs are sent from thereevery day to
other places.

Sincerely,

Gopala Krishnan 13-3-2021

1. Sage Gauthama incident. Moon God take the form of cock.

It is a very   interesting story. During Paalazhi manthansage Gowthama was an
on looker. During churning many things came up. One ofthem was smart kanyaka
AHALYA.

Indra desired to have her. But hehesitated to ask her for a moment. That moment
was critical. Brahma gave her to sage Gowthama-the own looker sage to bring up
her. The saying- Kandum kondu ninnavanpenniyeum kondu poyi. (The onlooker went
with girl!!) Just likeOlympics but for his hesitation she would have been of
Indra.

When she was grown up sageGowthama took her to Brahma as ordered by him. Now
also Indira hesitated to askfor a moment to Brahma. But Brahma pleasingly gave
her back to sage Gauthamaand asked to marry and lead a family life. Again Indra
missed lottery winningnumber by one digit change.

Indra could least tolerate thedevelopments.  He desired to have Ahalaya. He
thought of the people who can help and finally decided the Moon God can bethe
best and trustworthy. There was already an issue on the black side for itabout
Moon God – he had abducted Thara wife of sage Jupiter during a big
aswamedhayaga performed by him.

Indra called the Moon god. MoonGod accompanied Indra. Indra took the form of
sage Gauthama and Moon god as ofa Cock.

They reached the hermitage in amidnight. As cock moon god produced crowed
repeatedly. The sage got up thinkingit is early morning and started for
ablutions and bath.

Indra got in to hermitage in theform of sage Gauthama. Ahalya felt sage
Gauthama had gone for nature’s calledand came in. She did not resist the
advancing of Indra and his intimacy in theform of sage Gowthama.

After going out for some distance, sage Gowthama felt something rotten and foul
smelling and returned tohermitage. He found Indra in his appearance in intimacy
with Ahalya.

Sage cursed Ahalya to becomestone and Indra to have private organ in his entire
body.  However it appears that Moon god escaped somehowfrom curse.

The story of Ahalaya is told inRamayana .  I have told with some humour here.

2. Kurukkantae Kannu kozhkkotil thannae (Jackal always look in the henhouse)

It is a saying in Malayalam veryoften used about youngsters. If a jackal
wanders around a house with hen house,it wanders only with an aim- To catch
hold of young hens and chicks and run awaywhen hen house is opened and chocks
run here and there.

Thinking jackal is not there andhens are let out, from hiding bushes the jackal
would make its appearance and catchat least one young hen/chick.

The saying is used to indicateyoung men/girls   moving here and there in
marriage houses, festivalareas etc. Some of the youngsters may be aiming to
meet their like ones at oneplace or other or chit chat creating an occasion
purposely. It is a very commonscene in marriage and common functions.

3. Arathuvitta kozhi (The hen just killed)

Both parts of the hen will bemoving while losing life. Some people will always
be restless in the nature andDISTURBING OTHERS. They cannot remain a minute

Q2 If Maharishi Vyasa wrotePuranas then which Purana did he write first?

A2  Bhanu Kiran March 7-2021Mahabharata (Hindu epic) · Exploring
ancient texts of Sanatana Dharma

Vedavyasa did not write the Puranas. He only collected the informationand
arranged it into a list of 18 Puranas. Vishnu Purana says Brahma Purana was
written first.

The first of all the Puráńas is entitled the Bráhma. Those who are acquainted
with the Puráńasenumerate eighteen, or the Bráhma, Pádma, Vaishńava, Śaiva,
Bhágavata, Náradíya, Márkańd́eya, Ágneya,Bhavishyat, Brahma Vaivartta, Lainga,
Váráha, Skánda, Vámana, Kaurmma, Mátsya, Gárura, Brahmáńd́a.[1]

Matsya Purana Chapter 53 givesthe introduction to Puranas as quoted below.

The Rsis said— O Suta! Be pleased to describe to us the number of the Puranasin
due order and in detail and also about the giving of gifts and charity
(DanaDharma).

Suta said— I shall tell you exactly what the Universal Soul, the ancientMale
Lord, said to the King Vaivasvata Manu.

Lord said to Manu! Brahmaremembered in the beginning first the Puranas among
all the Sästras. SoPuränas are the first among the Sastras. Afterwards, Brahmä
utteredout the four Vedas from His four mouths.

There was only one Purana inthe beginning of the Kalpa. Itwas alone the means
of the accomplishment of the three ends of man (Dharma,Artha and Kama). And it
was the only holy book consisting of thousand millionsof stanzas.

When all the regions perished by fire at the Great Dissolution, then Irecited
the four Vedas, with their six Angas as well as the Puranas, themanifold
Nyayas, the Mimarhsa and the Dharmasastra. In the beginning of the newage, I
immersed myself in the furious waters, at the time of dissolution of
theuniverse and explained them fully to Brahma, Who in His turn revealed them
tothe Devas and the sages, after which they spread all over the world.
Therefore, the Puranas becamethe source of all other Sastras. Later on, seeing
the neglect of thePurana under the changed circumstances, I repromulgated them
in everyyuga, through my partial incarnation of Vyasa. In every Dvapara yuga, I
compiled thePuranas to the extent of four lacs of slokas, and spread them in
the worl1dafter dividing them into eighteen. Even now the bulk of the Purana
extends to a hundred crore verses inthe Deva loka. On the universe, however,
its bulk is abridged only to 4lakhs of slokas, and is divided into eighteen
Puranas.

Son of Vedavyasa gave the introduction to Puranas in this manner anddescribed
the order of Puranas as follows:

Brahma Purana Padma Purana

Vishnu Purana    Vayu Purana

Bhagvata Purana Naradiya Purana

Markandeya Purana    Agni Purana

Bhavishya Purana   BrahmavaivartaPurana

Linga Purana  Varaha Purana

Skanda PuranaVamana Purana

Kurma Purana  Matsya Purana

Garuda Purana Brahmanda Purana

Bhagavata Purana gives the order as below.

The Brahma Purāṇa consists of ten thousand verses, the Padma Purāṇa of
fifty-five thousand, Śrī Viṣṇu Purāṇa of twenty-three thousand, the Śiva Purāṇa
of twenty-four thousand and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam ofeighteen thousand. The Nārada
Purāṇa has twenty-five thousand verses, the Mārkaṇḍeya Purāṇa nine thousand,
the Agni Purāṇa fifteen thousand four hundred, the Bhaviṣya Purāṇa fourteen
thousand five hundred, theBrahma-vaivarta Purāṇa eighteen thousand and the
Liṅga Purāṇa eleven thousand. The Varāha Purāṇa contains twenty-four thousand
verses, the SkandaPurāṇa eighty-one thousand one hundred, the Vāmana Purāṇa ten
thousand, the Kūrma Purāṇa seventeen thousand, the Matsya Purāṇa fourteen
thousand, the Garuḍa Purāṇa nineteen thousand and the Brahmāṇḍa Purāṇa twelve
thousand. Thus the total number of versesin all the Purāṇas is four hundred
thousand. Eighteen thousand of these, once again, belong to the beautiful
Bhāgavatam.[2]

The order given in the Puranas are chronological as per the differentKalpas.
