[tw] [TW5] TiddlyMap
Hi, I've been playing around with TiddlyMap which I think is quite fabulous. Are there any updates on it's development? Just a couple of suggestions: When deleting a node, the default is to delete the tiddler as well and the 2nd option is just to delete it from the graph. I think it would be better to make the 2nd option the default to avoid accidental deletion. Would it be possible to use a keyboard shortcut or function key to switch the map into full screen view? It would then be much easier to toggle back and forth after clicking on a node to open the tiddler. Many thanks, Jon. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. Hi Jon, I've been playing around with TiddlyMap which I think is quite fabulous. Thanks! Are there any updates on it's development? Please subscribe to the github repo to stay informed about updates. Every commit (update) will send you a mail. The commits are directly coupled with the demo site so the changes are instantly reflected. To see whether your version is up to date, check the version info at the demo site. Just a couple of suggestions: Preferably ask those questions at github where I can organize them better for development. When deleting a node, the default is to delete the tiddler as well and the 2nd option is just to delete it from the graph. I think it would be better to make the 2nd option the default to avoid accidental deletion. I thought so too. However, the point is, TiddlyMap can only delete from the view's filter (graph) if it has been added explicitly per add node or double click. Otherwise the operation will fail. So I decided to use delete from system as default which always works. I can introduce a checkbox I know what I am doing as a compromise that needs to be checked... Would it be possible to use a keyboard shortcut or function key to switch the map into full screen view? Yes, I can try to do that. It would then be much easier to toggle back and forth after clicking on a node to open the tiddler. Ah ok so you want the hotkey for the editor on the right. And after clicking a node the fullscreen closes and then you want to go in fullscreen again, right? -Felix -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. Hi Felix, Ah ok so you want the hotkey for the editor on the right. And after clicking a node the fullscreen closes and then you want to go in fullscreen again, right? I'm probably not completely familiar with it yet - is there any other way of viewing the map apart from in the right hand window under the search box? So, from the right hand window you select full screen and then clicking a node returns to the previous view - it would be good to toggle this from the keyboard. Is it also possible to make the Allow/Deny prompt optional or at least control that from the keyboard too? I'll follow up your other suggestions. Re: [tw] Re: TiddlyWiki 5 European Portuguese pt_PT Translation
Hi Duarte I noticed that the drag and drop message (when dropping a file to import) is showing up in English even though it is translated in the strings. Is it because the string was updated, did I miss something, or is that the expected behavior? You'll find that the drop message will be updated when you restart the TiddlyWiki; there's a minor issue that changing the language setting doesn't refresh the stylesheet. I've fixed it for 5.1.8 here: https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/commit/cfea481ce820b0aec290063951eac6f820e92c9d Best wishes Jeremy. Re: [tw] Re: [TW5] Community Search
Hi Erwan That's very helpful, thank you. It looks as though most of the hits are actually Tobias's experiments with reworking is[missing]. The system/shadow tiddlers were excluded because originally I wasn't renaming the tiddlers, thus causing unwanted interactions on the search wiki. I guess that with the renaming (simple prefix with $:/wiki id/) there is little risk of interaction, but I'm not sure to know about all the possible kinds of interactions in TW. Anyway I can do some tests with them, but if you or any other TW expert could tell me which aspects to be careful about when merging all the tiddlers, that could be helpful. I know at least that I can't include plugin tiddlers, and currently I also exclude theme and javascript tiddlers to be safe (?). I've been dealing with the same problem for work I've been doing on the plugin library. The code I've got looks like this: $tw.wiki.addTiddler(new $tw.Tiddler($tw.wiki.getCreationFields(),tiddler,{ title: event.data.cookies.infoTitlePrefix + event.data.cookies.url + / + tiddler.title, original-title: tiddler.title, text: , type: text/vnd.tiddlywiki, original-type: tiddler.type, plugin-type: undefined, original-plugin-type: tiddler[plugin-type], module-type: undefined, original-module-type: tiddler[module-type], tags: [$:/tags/RemoteAssetInfo], original-tags: $tw.utils.stringifyList(tiddler.tags || []), server-url: event.data.cookies.url },$tw.wiki.getModificationFields())); As you can see, it's mangling the incoming title by applying a prefix (which I believe you already do), and also neutralising the plugin-type and module-type fields, and moving the tags to another field. The last is probably overkill - the key thing is to remove $:/tags/* tags. I know at least that I can't include plugin tiddlers, and currently I also exclude theme and javascript tiddlers to be safe (?). Indexing all public wikis seems more problematic to me, as some authors might not want that: additionally to my emails on the TW list I have sent an individual email (and later a reminder) to every known author in my list, so at this point I have to assume that those who did not answer are not interested. Since my system requires storing their tiddlers in the search wiki, it wouldn't be appropriate to do it without their consent. It would be different if the content was not made public (even hidden as system tiddlers), but I don't see how to do differently since it is the TW search system which does all the work. About the particular case of is[missing], I did a manual grep search on my local machine among the 29 wikis in my list (tagged CommunityWikis, including the non-indexed wikis; 5715 tiddlers in total) and found 25 occurrences (more precisely lines containing at least one occurrence); see the detailed results attached. By comparison I found: - 135 is[current] - 19 is[image] - 5 is[orphan] - 67 is[shadow] - 389 is[system] - 44 is[tiddler] - 7 is[tag] I was even imagining that this could be automatized, actually: some kind of asynchronous search triggered by some particular tag/tiddler in an indexed wiki, for which you would see the results the day after in a special tiddler of the search wiki... But that seems to me like a terribly complicated system for a very specific use case! (and that's not even addressing the potentially excessive workload on my machine) Regards Erwan On 07/02/15 13:35, Jeremy Ruston wrote: Hi Erwan Well done for your work on this, it's good to see this sort of experimentation. Something that's been cropping up over in GitHub discussions is that it might be useful to be able to search across all community wikis to see if certain constructions are being used heavily in the wild. For example, we've realised that the `[is[missing]]` filter has the wrong semantics, which we'd like to fix but it would be useful to have some idea if it is widely used it in its present form. So I guess I'm asking for the ability to search system and shadow tiddlers, and perhaps to broaden the search to all publicly accessible TW5 wikis. Hi Felix Well, the editor on the right is the default editor. you can also put an editor instance in any of your tiddlers by adding editor=vis or editor=advanced to the widget code (see or search online docs of the demo site; docs link is included in the getting started tiddler). Generally you can embed any view you create in any tiddler. That would probably lessen the need for the full screen toggle but for some reason the Grab widget code, which I can see at the demo site, is missing from my drop down view menu. Any ideas? If you directly want to edit content from the online TW you don't need to follow the answers, because they don't work that way. Dropbox would be possible to have read only public TWs. If you want to save to DP you need to edit on your device and let it sync with the public Dropbox folder using the DP drivers for your device. *Background*: I use chrome on all devices, one of which is a chromebook. I think this means Dropbox is not a great solution. The most important use cases are in personal use from multiple platforms/computers at this stage, but eventually it may turn collaborative. However, I don't see this as a very future-proof way of doing things. I would prefer we started working on implementing a date-(time-)picker that sets the desired date-field accordingly... and then have appropriate filters to handle the desired query, e.g *[date:modified[201501]]* (all where modified is in Jan 2015)*,* *[week:1:0[201501]]* (the days of a given week in a month, starting sunday so as to construct that calendar. No custom year, month, day fields. the magic required to make tiddlywiki automatically do the modular arithmetic required to auto-generate a calendar isn't something I want to deal with at the moment It is a kinda crude way to do it, I may get around to making something nicer in the future, but hopefully this helps for now. So, yes, I sure see how that is quite a challenge... and I think it's entirely worthwhile. Hi Tobias, The scripts work fine. It remain it position when I change the width of my tiddler. Greetings, I was using the import button in the tools menu to import the images. They were jpg images - and I did do a search for them using the advanced search and so on - but they were not there. I have redone the images using external links - which seems to be working better. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: Monthly View
OK...so in use I found a real drawback that this not useful - if you have the same Month Entry more than one time in the same month, it deletes the previous one...not very useful for a monthly journal . I will keep searching - thanks for you effort. On Sunday, February 1, 2015 at 10:32:49 PM UTC-5, Jed Carty wrote: You could do something like I have shown here: http://inmysocks.tiddlyspot.com/#Make%20Calendar%20Entry:%5B%5BMake%20Calendar%20Entry%5D%5D%20%5B%5B2014%20September%5D%5D%20something%20%5B%5BTest%20Calendar%20Thing%5D%5D The calendar is populated using a macro that has the date as its input, if you look at the code in the tiddler 2014 September you will see it. You will have to make one for each month, the magic required to make tiddlywiki automatically do the modular arithmetic required to auto-generate a calendar isn't something I want to deal with at the moment. To make another month clone the current month, change the fields 'month' and 'year' to reflect the current month and year and then change the location of the dates in the macros so that the dates are displayed on the correct days of the week. Each day will list tiddlers that have the fields 'year', 'month' and 'date' that match that day, so if a tiddler has the field 'year' with the value '2014', a field 'month' with 'September' and a field 'date' with '2' it will be listed in the calendar under September 2nd 2014. It is a kinda crude way to do it, I may get around to making something nicer in the future, but hopefully this helps for now. The tiddler 'Make Calendar Entry' is a form that you can use to make calendar entries without having to worry about setting fields and stuff, the tiddlers 'something' and 'Test calendar thing' are just there to show it works. There are many things you could improve about the presentation using css, but I am far too lazy to do that right now. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group.
