Re: [tw] Re: InfiniTiddly (or, Rich Shumaker is evil) ;-)
Hi Rich Yeah I knew there would be no way to access the data from my central TW. But since you can click links and open tag pills, I thought there might be a way to click a button in a tiddler in the viewed file, and have it execute an action of grab permalink, and open it in new tab. Does the TW Aggregator actually expand the filesize of the single TW file when it accesses the data from the other files? Does that file get larger and take longer to download each time? Dave On Wed, Feb 25, 2015 at 12:49 AM, RichShumaker richshuma...@gmail.com wrote: For 3. There is no way to permalink a tiddler from the Psalms file while viewing from the Infinitiddly file. The Infinitiddly file is what stays in the browser address bar. I don't think there is anything you can do as you are not actually viewing the real TW file you are viewing a snapshot of it when you use _canonical_uri. I call it a snapshot but it is not an image of the file the real file is there it is just you have no control over the data. So you can't transculde data or create lists for the data unless you went to the other location and did it there an then look at it through the lens of the _canonical_uri. It is like viewing a book through glass as you can't actually touch that data directly from inside the TW you put it in. That was my understanding at least and I will need to try this to confirm but that is how I remember it when I was working with it. This is why I liked the idea of the TW Aggregator as you actually get all the data merged into a single TW file and that data can be manipulated separately. [tw] Re: Why are some entries in TOC bold and others not?
There are two reasons this can happen. First, and the reason it happens in the examples you linked to, is that in most (possibly all) of the built in table of contents macros have layers in the hierarchy alternating between bold and normal text. So in that example all of the items in the root layer (first, second, third, fourth) are bold because they are in the first layer. Then firstone, firsttwo and so on are not bold because they are directly below a bolded layer, and then finally secondthreeone, secondthreetwo and so on are bold because they are below a non-bolded layer. It is just there to help visually distinguish between the layers in the table of contents hierarchy. Second, if you have plugins that add tiddlers to your table of contents those tiddlers will be bold by default because that is how shadow tiddler names are displayed. If one of those tiddlers gets changed than the name will no longer be bold. This can lead to tiddlers in the table of contents not following the above pattern. It is also why I have started moving any configuration or changes to tiddlers out of the visible tiddlers in my plugins. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: InfiniTiddly (or, Rich Shumaker is evil) ;-)
From what I understand the TW Aggregator gets bigger, but it only takes data like the title, creation date and creator from each tiddler so it shouldn't get too much larger unless you have a huge number of tiddlers in it. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: Using Macro Substitution as a filter parameter
The $macrocall widget should do what you want. It is supposed to evaluate inputs before passing them to a macro. Alternately you can use set widgets and macros: \define thisMacro() javascriptmacro $(macroinput)$ \end $set name=macroinput value=somevalue thisMacro /$set This should evaluate pass the variable correctly. I have a brief and probably not very clear explanation on my site http://inmysocks.tiddlyspot.com/#Concatenating%20Strings%20-%20What%20Breaks about concatenating strings, but the problem happen for the same reason and are fixed in the same way. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: InfiniTiddly (or, Rich Shumaker is evil) ;-)
When you use _canonical_uri you are including the entire X or Y. So if it is an image you get the whole image. If it is a website you get the website the way it is designed, some dynamically load, TW HTML loads in the entirety. So if you take 5 TW's and put them all inside a TW using _canonical_uri then you load 6 TW's. The TW Aggregator strips out the Tiddlers and puts them in a single TW file. So yes it is larger but it is not double the size if you use 2 TW's or triple if you use 3. This is my understanding of how it all works. Please correct me if I am wrong or if there is something I am missing. Oh and I hope this helps. You can get a tiddlers title by either $view tiddler='tiddlerA' field='title'/ or $transclude tiddler='tiddlerA' field='title'/ or {{tiddlerA!!title}} in this context I am not sure if there is any difference between the three methods. So you could do something like this: |h1{{tiddlerA!!title}}/h1br$transclude tiddler=tiddlerA mode=block/|h1{{tiddlerB!!title}}/h1br$transclude tiddler=tiddlerB mode=block/| -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] [TW5] Some simple date macros
I made some simple date macros http://inmysocks.tiddlyspot.com/#Date%20Macro%20Demos that give the time between two dates and one that will add (or subtract) a specific amount of time to the current date. For some reason whenever I use new Date(); the object returned says it is 22 days ago. This is consistent so the add-time macro manually adds 22 to the day part. I can't figure out why, it should be the same thing as used in the now macro. It seems like there should be a better way to do this, and hopefully I will add the option to give dates as strings instead of numbers. Any suggestions on what operations would be useful to have? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: [TW5] Some simple date macros
Well, one problem is that to go from 1- to 0-based indexing you subtract one not add one like I was doing. So there is that. The macro was treating your example as going from March to April instead of February to March. I fixed that error at least, now to track down all the others. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: tw5, nod.js, and dropbox
Thanks Mario. the restart thing will work for now, but my problem is I always forget this sort of thin and get things out of sync. If I write something new before the restart and refresh, will it merge everything from the older changes if I then remember to restart? It seems like it should as long as I am not overwriting anything. I had to do a little poking around to figure out how to restart the node.js and discovered a couple of things. First, in this thread https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!searchin/TiddlyWiki/restart$20node.js/tiddlywiki/cBgu1KwVdkA/h6Y5DkB0eL0J Jeremy responds to a similar query that I missed the firt time through: One workaround in the meantime is to use the HTTP API to create tiddlers; they will appear with immediate effect. but I was unable to find anything called an http API on the groups or in the TW5 docs or dev docs. Can someone walk through how to create tiddlers this way? Mostly a non coder here, but able to copy and paste well :) the second thing is that Jeremy also says Changes won't be picked up until the server is restarted. We do plan to fix this. +1 for that feature. to restart a node.js instance in linux, from a terminal do killall node then tiddlywiki /path/to/your/TiddlyWiki --server from an alt-F2 prompt (if you run it in a terminal postfixing it will die when you close the terminal. there is a way to get around this but running in the alt-F2 window if you have it avoids the problem altogether.) [tw] tw5, nod.js, and dropbox
Hi, I have a single user TW5 set up on node.js in a mixed linux and windows environment (and occasionally android). I noticed that when I make changeson my home computer, the new tid files get backed up in dropbox no problem, but the changes do not show in the my work computer node.js TW even though the new tid file is in the folder. I have to import new stuff manually. In my old setup, I used to just work in the tw file on dropbox. I might be able to set up a node.js server, but I like having the tid files in dropbox, as they are included in full text searches from outside TW (i.e. along with emails, documents, images, and so forth). Is there anyway that the node.js instances can stay in sync via dropbox? Or should I go back to the old all in one version without node.js for this? I don't want to have to remember to do anything like copying files out. I'll forget. the TWC classic version was just always up to date via dropbox and I would like that ability in TW5. [tw] Re: InfiniTiddly (or, Rich Shumaker is evil) ;-)
Thanks Rich. But, just making sure, the canonical_uri and the objectframe only add the TW file *while the tiddler is open*, and it disappears when the tiddler is closed, right? So if I had a dozen object frames to one site each, but only opened one at a time, I would not be using 12x the space, right? About the aggregator: Does the aggregator grab tags? [tw] Re: InfiniTiddly (or, Rich Shumaker is evil) ;-)
I do believe that canonical_uri loads only when you go to that tiddler. So if you open one at a time then it loads that data one at a time. What I don't know is if you then reload after you close the Tiddler or if that is buffered or cached? Again I know how it works just have not tested to see what goes on behind the scenes. So does anyone know the details of 'canonical_uri' in action?(how it loads, what it loads, space it takes, time it takes, ect. ect. ect.) In regards to TW Aggregator I don't think it it 'configurable' per se but it does grab the Tags. Here is the Github Repo Issues for that project https://github.com/erwanm/tw-aggregator/issues and it may have more details. I love the TW Aggregator for what it has done so far BUT I have not used it yet as I am still setting things up. Re: [tw] Re: [TW5] How to export image files
As an FYI I tried to WGET https://www.gnu.org/software/wget/ my TW5 and the file downloaded, d'oh!!! Since it is a single HTML file there was no spidering for the images. Although all my images were canonical_uri so that might have been the reason but I don't think so. Oh and a download all images button would be cool, would it per chance include canonical_uri's? [tw] [TW5] Open tiddler in full width
Hi, I suspect this is very simple to do but I can't find anything from searching on the forum. I just want to have a tiddler open in full width mode (hiding the sidebar), or apply CSS to do the same. [tw] Re: [TW5] Marking a tiddler as previously visited
Could this experiment be something for learners? Go to http://tiddlywiki.com and create a new tiddler containing ! Sections to learn: $list filter=[!is[system]!tag[learned]sort[]limit[10]] $checkbox tag=learned $view field=title/ /$checkboxbr/ /$list --- $list filter=[tag[learned]!sort[modified]limit[1]] ! $view field=title/ $transclude mode=block/ /$list --- ! Sections learned $list filter=[!is[system]tag[learned]!sort[modified]limit[10]] $checkbox tag=learned $view field=title/ /$checkboxbr/ /$list The idea here is: All tiddlers are sections to learn (you can change the first filter to define those which are really of interest). The first 10 when sorted by name are displayed. When you click the checkbox, of a section, that section is displayed right below the overview. Below that, you see the last 10 sections learned. Removing the checkbox will move the section back to the Sections to learn. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] [TW5] Marking a tiddler as previously visited
Is there a way to mark, e.g. tag, a tiddler as visited when it is opened so that you can subsequently list tiddlers that have not been opened/seen previously? I am thinking that this might be useful to students in tutorial-style wikis. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: Using Macro Substitution as a filter parameter
Hi Alan, Macro parameters are *not* parsed as WikiText until they are returned to a WikiText context. They're just inert strings of characters. This means your JavaScript is receiving strings that start with *{{* and end with *}}*. Only once the macro call has returned will its result be parsed as WikiText and the transclusions detected and acted upon. – æ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. Many thanks, Stephan. Not quite what I was looking for but it certainly looks useful, especially for revision purposes.
