[tw] [TW5] Autocollaps TOC categories

I have 800 *links* in 40 or 50 subcategories, making a very long list if everything is open category (TOC link: no) subcategory (TOC link: no) sub-sub-category (TOC link: no) *link* -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Hyperlinks not working in exported tiddler [tw5]
Hi, Is there a simple way to export related tiddlers as a group so that they remain linked to each other via the embedded wiki-hyperlink? I tested with the function 'export -- river of tiddlers as static html' thinking that all related tiddlers would be exported with their links intact - as opposed to exporting as a 'single tiddler' - but the result was a single html file whose hyperlinks led to nowhere. What should I do to achieve this? And what does 'river of tiddlers' mean anyway? Thanks! Regards, Sati -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: set story width in a stylesheet tiddler
If you have a look at the [1] ControlPanel: Appearance: Theme Tweaks there are 3 values. Story width *(the width of the story river or tiddler area)*: 770 px Tiddler width *(the width of individual tiddlers – used for zoomin storyview)*: 770 px Sidebar breakpoint *(the minimum width for the sidebar to be displayed alongside the story river)*: 686px if you change it to eg: 1200px, 1200px, 1186px imo you'll get what you want. -mario -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] [TW5] Possible to ignore date formatting in new journal title?
Hello, I recently started using my wiki again to keep notes as I work. I've found it useful to add $(currentTiddler)$ to my new journal title so that I can keep separate journals for separate things but have them have the date in the title. Unfortunately, it seems that the text in $(currentTiddler)$ is formatted as a date, which I do not want. In my case, the new journal title is set as $(currentTiddler)$ - MM/DD/ And I am attempting to create a new journal from a page titled ZnS Detector Development And when I try to create a new journal from that page, it makes a new tiddler with the title ZnS Detector Develoament - 3/3/2015 Which I think is a change of the pm-am since right now it's 11:30 AM (as suggested in https://groups.google.com/d/msg/tiddlywiki/diNQZFG_7js/xwPT4lcKd3gJ). Is there any way to have tiddlywiki not format the text in $(currentTiddler)$? Sorry if this is somewhere obvious but searching hasn't found very much for me. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: Hyperlinks not working in exported tiddler [tw5]
A river of tiddlers is simply a number of tiddlers represented in a static html file as if opened in a TiddlyWiki but without the TiddlyWiki around them. If you want to export a number of tiddlers you can experiment with the filters tab in advanced search to selectively export tiddlers of a given tag or, say, the last 50 or so, or simply export all tiddlers in various formats, one of them being said static html file of a river of tiddlers. Although interesting, right now there is no export with references mode. There could also be some command to recursively open all referenced tiddlers in the story and then a way to export the current story. Re: [tw] Re: education.tw.com
Jeremy, thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate the encouragement. Richard, that's a beautiful website, I'll be following your progress as a student teacher and hopefully one-day educator myself. I started out with the project because I was getting overwhelmed by all of the planning documents that were required, all the back and forth between multiple Word docs copying and pasting and formatting lists, etc. TW just solves it all, I love it. As it develops I am starting to think about more long-term and comprehensive uses for it as a data management tool for teachers. For example the way it is now I can save and track units over time, and compare them across years. Right now I'm taking a Curriculum Assessment class so I got to thinking, you could create and edit a curriculum over multiple years to make sure that you covered everything, and use TW to visualize different aspects of the curriculum much more conveniently than the ~300 page pdfs I'm currently seeing. For example, a lot of teachers are now making plans in alignment with Common Core. How awesome would it be to press a button and produce a detailed document showing your commitment to Common Core standards, and all without any of Bill Gates' software. Then the other area that I am very interested in developing (not now, maybe this summer) would be the use of TW as a long term grade book. This would provide important data on both the students and the teacher. There are ~250 learning objectives in that tiddler, for two units that are not even half completed. How well are my assessments aligned to those objectives? There is about a 0% chance that I can keep track of whether individual students are meeting those goals in a spreadsheet, but with TW, I would have a tiddler for each student and could keep track of their results on assessments. This record could persist across multiple years. Wouldn't it be great if you could hand each of your students a detailed report showing them exactly how they progressed over time? (Or email it to them, or have it available for them to peruse at will?) That would just be one button to click if you were keeping all your grades in a TW. As an aside, one of my upcoming projects is going to be combining svg graphics, wikitext, and javascript to make graph widgets. For educators that want to display their student learning data, this would be useful. I used to love the simplicity and versatility of the graphing tools in Matlab, so I will probably base it on that and Excel. I know other people are working on making TW more math-friendly, and I think these two additions would go a long way towards making TW a viable spreadsheet alternative. I would also like to add a section for assigning students to teams or groups for lesson activities, using BJ's taglist widget with the drag and drop. It would be pretty nice because you could automatically create and print custom handouts for all your groups in all your classes. You could also store parent contact information and any other type of information about the students. Anyway, I don't mean to hijack your post but I was literally thinking about this all day and I got real excited when I saw your post. I've seen some real crap educational software and I'm sure it was expensive, so I'd love to see TW put some control back in the hands of the teachers and free up some money for better things. Re: [tw] TW5 Permalink to plain webpage
I was able to put the exclude-from-print div class in the Story tiddler, wrapping it around all the normal tiddlers. I have a separate tiddler for the stuff I want to print, it is added to the story list separately and is not wrapped by that class. I added a print button with a $print/ widget, very bare bones with a window.print(); in the invoke action part of it, so if I hit the button, the brower's print dialog automatically comes up with just the content I want. From there I can print a paper copy or make a PDF of my content. It was definitely more work than your solution, Tobias, but I have since grown rather attached to my Print button.
