Remember you have to specify the symbol in the settings first.

Yeah, it can be tweaked to include @people as well. However, currently
it has the limitations pointed out by Beabonobo and I haven't had time to
 solve them.

Your passwor IS NEVER STORED, not in the online version, nor on the offline

Like most of the modern web services (believe me, hundred of services that

Is TW5 a platform to you or just an app?

I look at other apps like Evernote, Twitter, Snapchat, Google Keep and I

Hi CL,

With a qualified state, always wrap the context in which you want to use it
and never calculate it twice:

\define minimalTestCase(limit)
<$list filter="[tag[Filter Operators]sort[title]limit{$limit$}]">
<$link><$view field="title"/>

\end

<$vars state=<>>

<$select tiddler=<>>

10
20
30

<$macrocall $name="minimalTestCase" limit=<>/>

Best wishes,

Tobias.

[tw] Re: My TiddlyWiki Journey

2017-01-06 Thread RichShumaker
Welcome Dmitry,

1 > 0 is a concept that GaryVee discusses.
Doing something is better than doing nothing.

TW Classic had a spike in the user base when a version of TW was married
with Getting things Done, Monkey Getting Things Done if memory serves me
correctly.
TW5 has not really had that same spike even though there are many TW5
applications that are amazing.

I believe that building something that others use with bring more people
faster than anything else.

I look forward to seeing and hopefully helping with what you are creating
using TW5.

[tw] Re: The Footnote-Plugin...

2017-01-06 Thread Jan

Hi Thomas,
thanks, for me it's the same.
I have been thinking on the snippet-question for some time now.
To my mind there is two types and three Use-Cases for these
presentationSnippets. It is useful to the UseCases equally
because there is a big overlap.

Types: there should be Snippets visible in the normal TiddlerView and
hidden Snippets that do not show.

Use-Cases:
1. Reading and memorizing content like cue cards on phone-sized devices.
Here it would be best be able to browse through the cards with swipe
gestures.

2. Presentations with visual content...where I would like to use the
TiddlyMap Plugin (as I just wrote to Felix in this list and started to
try on http://slidemap.tiddlyspot.com/)
2a. with remote the snippet of the current Tiddler would be shown in
the remote and set to be visible by clicking.
2b. without a remote we would have to think of a button to navigate to
the next step in the presentation.

I encountered a further Idea for the footnotes-plugin.
Would it be possible to assign a special class to footnotes that are at
the top of the tiddler-Text so that they are shown behind the Tiddler-Title?

So best wishes ... and a happy 2017 for you
Jan

Re: [tw] Testing a new Concept for Slideshows using Tiddlymap and a remote

2017-01-06 Thread Dave
What's supposed to happen? I can use the remote to go from tiddler to
tiddler on the other window, but the changes are happening to the left of
the map and I was thinking there was supposed to be some action happening
at the map itself.

Are you able to do a screencast to demo it, or is that what's supposed to
happen?

Re: [tw] Testing a new Concept for Slideshows using Tiddlymap and a remote

2017-01-06 Thread Jan

Hi Felix,
thanks, I am glad you like it. I am fascinated with the possibilities of
TiddlyMap and vis.js.
TalkyTalky was the first Theme I implemented, but i think a view with
Tiddlymap an vis.js is far more promising.

I have some questions on what could be represented now and what could
eventually be adapted for slideshows in the future.
-Where is the stylesheet for the map/view. I could not get FF to display
the css-elements of the map. (for example the background and the buttons
of tiddlyMap.)
-Would it be possible to zoom to a Tiddler via external
events/buttons(Like in the list in the PopUp with the magnifyingclass on
the topright corner).

-Would it be possible to trigger the PopUp a Tiddler with external buttons.
-Could you determine content to be shown in the PopUp .

Thanks and best wishes,
Jan

[tw] TW5 Android saving tiddlers to usb

2017-01-06 Thread James A Bernard
Hi,
Thank you for TW5 (and classic). I've been using TW for some time.
I am however having a problem...
I'm running TW5 on Android with FF (and FF Beta) and saving locally. This
works fine. Also saving locally to the dropbox folder with the "file
available off line" option. And this works fine too, dropbox even syncs the
right way when it is opened.
The problem comes when I want to save a tiddler to an attached USB memory
stick. Is doesn't. I've tried different ways and none seem to work. Any
help or pointers to make this work would be helpful.
Thank you
James

Re: [tw] Re: TiddlyWiki Hangout #102 will be on Thursday 5th January 2017 at 5pm GMT

2017-01-06 Thread Francis Meetze
I've been trucking along quite nicely using TiddlyWiki as a secure
replacement for Google Notes. There were quite a few ideas presented in
the program that caught me by surprise. For me, TiddlyWiki is shifting
from more of a novelty to a viable paradigm change in app design. Already
it appears to be taking on the characteristics of a news framework similar
to Wordpress or Django.

I appreciated the heads up on the Beaker browser too. Non-centralized
communication will definitely be a contender to the largest innovators of
our time simply because there is no legal or technological space for
regulating it.

Evan brought out some points that I've contended with in working with
TiddlyWiki. Not everyone who uses TiddlyWiki enters the the ring with the
same background or skill sets. Programmers are looking for familiar syntax
while the majority of the general public is looking for more WYSIWYG
interfacing. As this project moves along, I see Tiddler interpreters
branching out.

On that note, I've recently been reading some of the theory around OpenCog.
I wonder if there could be any correlation between the data models in use
there and all the Tiddlers we are manually linking logically together via
Tags. Evan made me think of this when he mentioned how he was
contemplating how the Tiddlers would talk to each other for certain
assignments. Maybe in the future, tags wouldn't even be necessary?

Hi Steve

My idea of finding content that was updated during the last X days is visible
in my Work-Report, maybe you want to have a look at it:

Please ask if you need more information!

[tw] Re: [TW5] Filtering using field value

2017-01-06 Thread Jeremy Wheeler
I must confess I wasn't very systematic.

I started with Google search terms like "tiddlywiki filter" and "tiddlywiki
filter syntax" and followed likely looking leads. I have a technical
background and have made superficial use of a number of programming and
markup languages but my knowledge is very out of date so the locations I
found most useful were the ones with example markup. I wouldn't necessarily
understand the syntax but I would take it as an example and make small
incremental changes towards my goals, While the changes worked I kept going
forward, when they didn't I backed off and re-grouped.

The best locations I recall were this forum (it seemed to work very well -
and it did for me) and tiddlywiki's
own
http://tiddlywiki.com/static/Introduction%2520to%2520filter%2520notation.html.

Tobias, I see, has posted a link to Filter Parameter
.

I saw that when I was searching that but didn't "get it" at the time. In
hindsight and with this solution it now makes perfect sense (of course). I
think my personal challenge is getting used to that style of documentation.

using twederation we could set up a button that imports all tiddlers newer

[tw] Re: Sameday filter operator requiring tomorrow's date to match <> of just created tiddler field

2017-01-06 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
KML, I'm about an hour off your timezone.

I put the created date in the mydatefield field and it showed up as sameday
tomorrow 1/7.

It appears that sameday is assuming that the date field is local time, and
rolling the clock forward to make it UTC time. I don't know if that was the
planned behavior. If it's a bug, it would be almost invisible to anyone
living within a hour of UTC.

[tw] An idea for merging / updating / semi-syncing TiddlyWikis

2017-01-06 Thread stevesuny
Hello,

For a class I'm teaching on/in TiddlyWiki (alpha:
https://designwritestudio.github.io/) I'll be writing / gathering
commentary on a book

 and
asking students to add their own thoughts to their own individual versions
of the wiki. I'll be writing / updating on an irregular schedule.

I'd like for readers to be able to generate a list of tiddlers modified or
created after a given date, and to drag / drop that group of tiddlers into
their own version. As long as they didn't create tiddlers with the same
name, should be ok. Of course, I could do this with a tag as well, and tag
those tiddlers I recommended students import.

For all of these students, they will have just learned how to use
TiddlyWiki the previous week. So a single drag/drop import of set of
tiddlers is what I'm trying to build.

Thanks!

//steve.

[tw] Re: Sameday filter operator requiring tomorrow's date to match <> of just created tiddler field

2017-01-06 Thread 'KML' via TiddlyWiki
Tobias,

Thank you very much for the pointers and changes to the example. I ran your
modified code this morning (in the UTC - 7 time zone), and it produced the
following result:

6th January 2017 at 8:09am

Make Tiddler with mydatefield=201701060809

*Tiddlers with sameday in mydatefield as 20170106*

*Tiddlers with sameday in mydatefield as 20170106*

*Tiddlers with sameday in mydatefield as 20170107*
Tiddler made now <http://tiddlywiki.com/#Tiddler%20made%20now>
201701060809
201701060109

Thus the tiddler created on 2016-Jan-06 (both here and in London) is still
being filtered by sameday with a mydatefield matching 2016-Jan-07. Thus I
believe there is a bug in sameday.

Perhaps I should try to skin this problem a different way. I understand the
following is contrary to your point #5, but I can create a javascript macro
<> that produces a string with the local date and time. I can
use a regexp:mydatefield operator to filter for the tiddlers I want to
retrieve, but I'm unsure of how to get the regular expression parameter
with an initial anchor (^) followed by the contents of yet another tiddler
field into a variable that is fully rendered before it gets used in the
filter. In case it is helpful, I'll explain the context, although I don't
think this is critical to the solution.

I include macros in my journal tiddlers that list tasks scheduled for that
day as well as work done on that day. To help with this, each journal
tiddler has a field named date-journal in the format 0MM0DD matching
the date that the tiddler journals. The work tiddlers include two fields,
datetime-start and datetime-stop in the format 0MM0DD0hh0mm0ss that are
populated by button presses when work is started and stopped, respectively.
(These fields are used to calculate elapsed time for the work.) Within
each journal tiddler I would like to list the work tiddlers with
datetime-start fields that begin with the 8 digit date corresponding to
date-journal.

Could you kindly suggest how to construct "^{{!!date-journal}}" in such a
way that the transclusion occurs before using this string in a filter that
includes "tag[Work]regexp:datetime-start[^{{!!date-journal}}]"? I've
sometimes succeeded in creating helper macros, but am stumbling on this one.

Thanks for reading. By the way, I make use of your :let SUM filter to total
hours in my work and task tiddlers. Thanks for that contribution of yours
as well.

Cheers,
Kevin

Re: [tw] Re: [TW5] Font family CSS for the editor not working

2017-01-06 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi MondayRobot

The new text editor with the toolbar embeds the underlying in an
iframe; this is necessary to prevent clicks on the toolbar from stealing focus
from the text editor. To handle styling, the system creates a dummy, hidden
textarea and then copies all of the styles to the embedded textarea.

As you’ve discovered, that process doesn’t take into account custom fonts that
are available in the main page, but unavailable in the iframe.

So, right now, if you want to use a custom font you’ll have to disable the new
editor (there’s a checkbox in “Settings” in control panel).

Best wishes

Jeremy

Hey Mark, thanks for the advice.

Tried it with !important, but it didn't work.

I finally managed to isolate the problem, it seems that in the last version
I can't use embedded fonts for the editor (other classes are fine). System
fonts work, so as a backup solution I installed the font I wanted to use
and changed the stylesheet.

Thanks again !

[tw] Re: NoteSelf mobile app ( well, kind of)

2017-01-06 Thread Tobias Beer
Hi Danielo,

It's a very interesting piece of TiddlyWiki sync technology.

Some questions / remarks:

   1. I think it is not necessarily clear to everyone, that they can just
   take your published version
download it and put it somewhere else and it would still do the thing
  - in other words, that there is no dependency to
  noteself.github.io/online whatsoever
 - so, there are no passwords stored "there" ...it's all in the
 browsers cache or localStorage
 - perhaps add to the FAQ "Where is my password stored?"
  - your github page is simply just a starting point you could even use
  productively
  - this is admittedly a bit confusing
 - in other words, a user can ad-hoc hook their couchDB,
pull the tiddlers into your site and work with it
 - this is where it differs from TiddlySpot... you could simply
 push any tiddlywiki up there,
but at some point you want to start working off of that url
 - with Noteself, you can pull your couchDB stored tiddles into any
 noteself anywhere,
one by one, revisions and all
 - however, what if I wanted my own flavours (themes, plugins,
 etc...)?
 - or even an entirely pre-baked version that looks totally
different?
 - perhaps you can make it slightly more clear, that noteself is
  but an application layer
that can pull and push a batch of tiddlers, not an entire wiki
 - however, that brings me to a question
  2. What if I downloaded your version, "made it mine", different
   styles, plugins, etc...
upload my "modified noteself", incl. its system tiddlers somewhere else
and then started using it... which tiddlers would get synced to couchDB
   and why?
   3. Somewhat in a similar line of thought, how does one upgrade (a)
   noteself?
   4. What prevents you from publishing Noteself as a syncer plugin?
  - I think that would make its nature much clearer,
as but one, albeit exemplary, of a potentially big number of sync
  modules
   5. What I would find highly interesting was the capability
to sync multiple noteself "tiddler collections" in the same wiki
  - some from that couchDB and / or table, some from another (e.g. a
  template)
  - besides versions, this would clearly be a capability that
  TiddlySpot cannot deliver
   6. as for revisions, there are two things
  1. the icon could more gracefully look like a core thing, right now I
  find it a bit imposing
  2. the actual revision handling feels very confusing to me
 - tbh., I have no clue how to get back to an earlier revision
 - what's most confusing though, I don't see a date for revisions
 anywhere, just cryptic numbers...
that's not very usefull to figuring out a past version to revert to
 - What is the meaning of those tabs?

Best wishes,

Tobias.

[tw] Re: Sameday filter operator requiring tomorrow's date to match <> of just created tiddler field

2017-01-06 Thread Tobias Beer
There are a couple of things here.

Some general rules and some more things to consider:

   1. fieldnames are mandatorily lowercase, not sure why, but they are:

*so, MyDateField is invalid whereas mydatefield is valid*

   2. dates are always stored as GMT / always store dates are as GMT!

*therefore, you cannot actually create a meaningful custom date using the
now macro, at least not until the macro provides a second parameter that
reads GMT:yes returning the date in GMT rather than local time*

   3. always *view* dates in local time, because why would you care about
   the GMT equivalent?

*looking at a date field using plain transclusion, e.g. via {{!!modified}}
only helps insofar as you need to be aware that you're looking at GMT,
otherwise use the ViewWidget to get the date displayed in local time*

   4. using the *<>* macro without formatting does *not* yield a valid
   tiddler date format

*use a $set or $vars widget first, to get the value
   for <> formatted appropriately, first*

   5. you cannot use regexp with dates, esp. not when in GMT, because
   you're not dealing with strings,
this is more ore less the same issue as 3.

*use or invent proper date handling filters*

So, here's an updated example for you, however, not necessarily solving all
your problems:

<$button>Make Tiddler with mydatefield=<>
<$action-sendmessage $message="tm-new-tiddler" title="Tiddler made now"
tags="Test" mydatefield=<>/>

__Tiddlers with sameday in mydatefield as <>__
<$vars rightNow=<>>
<$list filter="[tag[Test]sameday:mydatefield]" >
<$link><$view field="title"/>
<$view field="modified" format="date" template="0MM0DD0hh0mm"/>
<$view field="mydatefield" format="date" template="0MM0DD0hh0mm"/>

__Tiddlers with sameday in mydatefield as 20170106__
<$list filter="[tag[Test]sameday:mydatefield[20170106]]" >
<$link><$view field="title"/>
<$view field="modified" format="date" template="0MM0DD0hh0mm"/>
<$view field="mydatefield" format="date" template="0MM0DD0hh0mm"/>

__Tiddlers with sameday in mydatefield as 20170107__
<$list filter="[tag[Test]sameday:mydatefield[20170107]]" >
<$link><$view field="title"/>
<$view field="modified" format="date" template="0MM0DD0hh0mm"/>
<$view field="mydatefield" format="date" template="0MM0DD0hh0mm"/>

Best wishes,

Tobias.

Re: [tw] Is there a TW5 version of sparklines or some sort of simple line graph?

2017-01-06 Thread Jan

Hi Dave,
there is an implementation of vis.js http://visjs.org/ for TW5, which
is a powerfull visualization-library, which would have all the Features
you need.
It is used already in use in Tiddlymap.org and in a timeline
http://kixam.github.io/TW5-visjsTimeline/ . I think it would be best to
use this.

Apart from this there is an implementation of d3.js
http://tiddlywiki.com/plugins/tiddlywiki/d3/index.html.

Cheers Jan

I searched "TW5 sparkline" and "graph" and "line graph" and haven't
found anything.

Am I missing anything? I'd like just a simple visualization of
changing numbers over time (interspersed dates).
