I store and access (on my android device) my tidlywikis in the local
dropbox folder. Auto syncing with the cloud once I save. Does this help
with your shared location?

I also use Waterfox with the tiddlyfox plugin

I could imagine a need to escape the the Great White North

Personally, there is a few weeks in the middle of summer I would like see
snow instead, when its 42c 108F as an example.

I have accommodation in Sydney, and 100acres/ 40 hectares in "the bush"
with a shack, kangaroos and wombats so do not hesitate to ask if you are
thinking of visiting.

However I am heading to Europe in February. France, Portugal possibly Italy

[tw] Re: Tiddlydrive not working on Android

2017-11-22 Thread TonyM
Alan,

I spent some time 6 months ago building my access to tiddlywiki on android.
In the end I got the most satisfaction from installing termux and
installing node JS because that makes tiddlywiki not only browser
independent (on android) but also device independent, ie I can access the
android wiki on the LAN from my desktop.

I have not yet managed to make it autoload on phone reboot, but that will
be a matter of focus.

The above solution of course does not maintain the wiki in a shared
location, but it does in someway's allow access from multiple locations.

Regards
Tony

Re: [tw] Re: [TW5] Solution to generate a tree of parent tiddlers?

2017-11-22 Thread TonyM
Birthe,

I suppose what I am saying is to keep the tagging facility always
available. If a tiddler is marked in anyway including an existing tag,
existence of a field, tiddler types or a prefix or suffix in the title, it
is possible to include or exclude something in the view or edit template,
allowing you to avoid a tag for this puropse. I am looking at ways to use
additional fields to store keywords and other "tags" because this leaves
the regular tags free to for ad hoc needs or additional hierarchies. Such
dedicated keyword sets allows a more targeted search.

Inspired by Arkadys Parent/child macro I actually had trouble sleeping last
night (Sydney time) thinking about sophisticated navigation of alternate
hierarchies, yes I do have a life, and it includes intellectual pursuits.
This has being an obsession of mine for many years because I have a concept
for an algorithm which I can bring to life in tiddlywiki.

Good stuff
Tony

Thanks, Alfonso. My apologies for the late response. As I said, I don't

It's possible that resolving this issue will get me more active again.

I'm checking out your suggestion as well as the others. A question about
yours: Is it necessary to install Portable Firefox on a portable drive, a
USB drive? Can I install it to my applications folder like regular Firefox?

Thanks again,

Thanks, Mark. As It’s not urgent that I get this issue resolved, I’ll be taking
my time in going about at. As I’ve been away from TW a good while, except for
adding or changing an occasional tiddler, I’ll have to defamiliarize myself
with the way the relevant things are done. But I will be checking out the

[tw] Re: Is it possible to create a list of tiddlers to transclude in a data dictionary?

2017-11-22 Thread PMario
Hi Andrew,

It's really hard to imagine a functionality, that you want to have, from
your description, and code, that does not do what you want. ...

So it would be nice to get a minimal testcase, that also includes a data
tiddler. So we don't need to guess and invest time to find out how it may
look like, reverse engineering the code. ...

I may have created something similar some time ago, for a video HowTo series
. There
is a bundle, that you can download and play with. ... The functionality,
that may be interesting for you is described in video 12 and 13 that deals
with a data dictionary.

video 12 is ~5min long, and describes the functionality. ... So if this is
interesting for you, you can have a closer look at vid13.
video 13 is 15min and describes the code in detail.

have fun!

[tw] Any Demand for Sheepy Markup?

2017-11-22 Thread @TiddlyTweeter
Markup is powerful.

Its shorthand.

For instance the code *:shL:* could invoke a large SVG sheep and *:shBL: *a
CSS bouncing lamb.

The brilliance of markup in TW is it does NOT need to produce just a
passive set of characters that get HTMLified. It could be used to
DYNAMICALLY INVOKE possession of our own medium.

Best wishes

Since the vast majority of my tiddlers are intended to be “person
tiddlers”, it’s easier to have a special mark for “non-person” tiddlers.
Also, tags are visible in regular views, and this attribute which serves
the purpose of changing the tiddler template, does not need to be exposed
to the viewer. So, in my case, I may add a “not-a-person” property to the
tiddler, set it to “1” for the few “non-person” tiddlers and add
-[has[not-a-person]] to those template filters.

You are right, I *may* use non-person tiddlers in the future for photos,
documents, or places. Those can be identified by the tiddler type or a
“place” tag. I’ll deal with them when I decide to add them. I just don’t
want to over-complicate this.

I recently created a Footer that goes in the View Template (and A Status

[tw] Re: Upgrading to TW5.1.15 -> Two themes missing

2017-11-22 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Ed,

> do I understand correctly that upgrading means that one upgrades to an
empty.html?

No, in case you upgrade, the core - and all *installed* core plugins/themes
- are upgraded.

The *Tight* and *Tight & Heavier* themes were *not* in your TW before you
upgraded. But you can add them manually.

Note: The Tight theme was introduced with v5.1.10 and the Tight & heavier
theme was introduced with v5.1.14.

Cheers,

Ton

[tw] Is it possible to create a list of tiddlers to transclude in a data dictionary?

2017-11-22 Thread leeand00
Is it possible to list tiddler titles in a data dictionary tiddler, and
then transclude just those tiddlers (using a template) somewhere else?
And if so, how would one go about that?

Here is as close as I've gotten with a tiddler named QualificationsSummary:

\define linkup(link,idx)
<$view index="$idx$" />
   <$text text="$idx$" />

\end

\define what()

   <$list filter="[suffix[$(thefilter)$]]">
  <$link>Qualifications Summary
  <$list filter="[indexes[]nsort[]]" variable=
"thisIndex">
  <$macrocall $name="linkup" link=<> idx=<>/>

\end

<$set name="thefilter" value={{!!tiddlerforqualificationssummary}}>
<>

field: tiddlerforqualificationssummary:

And then it's placed in another tiddler:

{{||QualificationsSummary}}

(with the field
"tiddlerforqualificationssummary" containing the title of the dictionary
tiddler)

But this doesn't transclude a list of tiddlers from the dictionary using a
template, which is what I would prefer.

Thank you,

[tw] width 100% tables?

2017-11-22 Thread leeand00
How can I get my tables to be 100% width? I tried the following and it
didn't work:

Per the documentation, created a tiddler named "$:/tags/Stylesheet" with a
type of "text/css" the following content:

html body.tc-body {
background: red;
}
.dasHead {
   width: 100% ! important;
   text-align: center;
}

And a table in my wiki like the following:

|dasHead |k
|>| ''Andrew J. Leer'' |>|

But it doesn't resize to 100% of the width (Firefox 57)

Everything seems correct to me, is there anything I missed?

Thank you,

Andrew J. Leer

[tw] Re: Upgrading to TW5.1.15 -> Two themes missing

2017-11-22 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Ed,

Tiddlywiki.com contains all 9 core themes:

   1. Basic theme
   2. Centralises the story river
   3. Emphasises individual tiddlers
   4. Example alternative theme
   5. Heavier font theme
   6. Hides the ability to edit tiddlers
   7. Removes borders from tiddlers
   8. Tight and Heavier font theme
   9. Tightly packed theme

If you download an 'empty.html' it contains only 2 themes:

   - Basic theme (Vanilla)
   - Emphasises individual tiddlers (SnowWhite)

You can add themes by going to Control panel > Plugins. Click the button
'Get more plugins' and thereafter 'Open plugin library'.
There you can install the thems you want.

Cheers,

Ton

Re: [tw] [Node.js] Unable to update past 5.1.13

2017-11-22 Thread William RENOU
I created a new TW and progressively copied my tiddlers over to it, first
installing the same plugins I had then moving standard tiddlers, macro /
template tiddlers and checking each time if it broke it. Since it still
worked fine I used your method (because I really don't like fixing
something and not understanding how I did it), plugin to blame was a
language plugin. I had forgotten about this one & feel kind of dumb not to
have checked this one.

Josiah,

I am creating a thread on Twitter [1].
I'd like to "weave" a TiddlyZine into this thread.

I think a twitter thread is an interesting form. Small chunks of
information linked together.
A TiddlyZine can cut and paste from Twitter and then be inserted back into
the narrative.

Re: [tw] [Node.js] Unable to update past 5.1.13

2017-11-22 Thread Arlen Beiler
The first error is probably resulting a rogue plugin as well, since the put
saver always makes that options request to check if it is able to work. The
request does look a little funny, but I still think it is a rogue plugin
being stored as a tiddler. You can try deleting all the system tiddlers in
the actual tiddlers folder in the data folder to see if that fixes it then
add them back in until you find the problem tiddler. It will probably start
with either $__core or $__plugins, so add your other ones first in a lump
if you want and then add the "$__plugin" files one by one. If there is a
file named $__core.tid or something like that and is over a MB, don't add
it as it is definitely a problem.

Hope that helps.

Re: [tw] [Node.js] Unable to update past 5.1.13

2017-11-22 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi William

The first error looks as though TiddlyWiki is trying to use the PUT saver to
save changes. That suggests that maybe you have not got the required tiddlyweb
plugin loaded. The plugins you’re using should be entered into the
tiddlywiki.info file for your wiki:

https://tiddlywiki.com/#Installing%20a%20plugin%20from%20the%20plugin%20library

The second error looks like maybe you’ve got a 5.1.13 plugin loaded as a
literal tiddler. It won’t get updated when you upgrade because it’s a literal
tiddler rather than a reference in the tiddlywiki.info file.

If the system will let you, you can use the $:/AdvancedSearch “Filter" tag to
help track this down:

First, the following filter expression will list all of the different values
for the “version” field of the loaded plugins:

[all[tiddlers]each[version]get[version]]

If you see “5.1.13” listed then you can identify the specific rogue plugin with
the following expression that lists all of the plugins with the “version” field
set to 5.1.13:

[all[tiddlers]version[5.1.13]]

If none of that helps then I think you might be best starting with a new wiki
and progressively bringing your content over until you can see what breaks.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Re: [tw] Re: [TW5] Solution to generate a tree of parent tiddlers?

2017-11-22 Thread TonyM
Arkady,

Looks good, thanks for the followup.

Personally I would to anything not to rule out other tags, they can be so
useful, if there is any thing that identifies a tiddler as a person, even
one of a set like father mother that you can use so your solution is more
robust is recommended.

Since all but home is a person at the moment you could tag all STANDARD
tiddlers "person" (automated) and remove that from Home. And update your
new here/new tiddler to add the person tag for future ones.

I recently created a Footer that goes in the View Template (and A Status
Bar), A technique I used was to replicate what is found in the
Viewtemplates use of Tags as well.

A Tiddler called $:/PSaT/macros/customfooter

   tagged $:/tags/ViewTemplate containing;

<$list
filter="[all[shadows+tiddlers]tag[$:/tags/ViewTemplatefooter]!has[draft.of]]"
variable="listItem"><$transclude tiddler=<>/>

Then my additional footer macros are simply
tagged $:/tags/ViewTemplatefooter

I can now add as many additions to the footer as I want with a simple tag.
I actually place buttons at the top and lists at the bottom of the footer,
using draggable ordering.

This means I do not modify any system tiddlers like
$:/core/ui/ViewTemplate/body

Perhaps these are useful?

Regards
Tony
