Thanks for kind responses.

Shavin, english is not my mother tongue either.

Mario, so much for the links:)

Måns, nice links on guitar tabs as I can play the guitar but unable to
read notes:(

And Ton as I know some dutch.

Some questions from novices may arise when addressing to people in
general. The following articles may help to compare TW with other
notes programs from a probably a commoner.

Have a nice day.

Hi

 what is tiddlywiki for?

 A contacts book http://contactsbook.tiddlyspot.com/

A proposed class records app: http://classrecords.tiddlyspot.com/
(still imcomplete, but idea is largely implemented, thanks to Eric)

IphoneApp redesigned to administer students, diverse student groups

Denmark..

TiddlyWiki system for administration of students, diverse student groups,
sickleave and weekends, classes etc on a boarding school for lower

Several different subject wikis for collaboration with students and censors
when preparing for exams:
http://kristendom.tiddlyspot.com/
http://dansk.tiddlyspace.com/
http://danskmm.tiddlyspace.com/
http://etik.tiddlyspot.com/
Another one made especially for grading (giving characters) and counting
workhours - in subject Danish: http://karakter.tiddlyspot.com/
A simple website for promoting/discussing GeckoEduBook with a Danish
Telecommunication firm: http://edubook.tiddlyspot.com/
A scrapbook for collecting Danish TiddlyWiki tutorials and Puppy Linux
related stuff as a shadow and showcase for a Danish Linux forum:
http://tw-abc.tiddlyspot.com/
MindMap of early tiddlywiki experiments (could be anything else really)-
http://twspot.tiddlyspot.com/

GuitarScrapBook with Jtabs: http://guitar.tiddlyspot.com/#GuitarTabs
yet another one: http://maans.bplaced.net/TiddlyHome/guitar/#GuitarTabs

I could go on for hours showing just my own different uses of TiddlyWiki,
however most of the really important ones, don't exist as TW's I would
publish because they are filled with confidential material...

I think it's the case with most TiddlyWikis people use on a day to day basis
- They simply don't lend themselves to be showcased in public..

Cheers Måns Mårtensson

2010-10-21 Thread Shavin
Hi,
I did not understand your query well, but here goes:

The links you have given below your name are suffixed to google server
which gives a 404 error. I was able to access the links by cutting out
the www.google.com part.
Anyways the links lead to very good presented tiddlywiki files. If
they are yours you already know a lot. You would already know that
Tiddlywiki basically is a single file software, but another jar file
might be needed to go around the browser security policies.
About the license, its open source and you can view the license when
you open the tiddlywiki in a browser and then go to ViewSource. In
the beginning section you can find the license.

If this was not what you were asking, then pardon me, my bad.

On Oct 21, 11:02 am, Handoko Suwono handoko...@gmail.com wrote:
I am sorry to rephrase the subject.

I have more experiences than once that it's difficult to get
Tiddlywiki be presented through some FOSS events. The first, it was
only put as a show case only, not for a mere formal presentation. The
second was a chance to be put together in a one hour slot with
Mediawiki, which ended up with more of the MW stuffs from another
 presenter.

It's always a good chance to get q a from current users of
Tiddlywiki. However We need also to answer those probably awkward
questions from the audience. One question was like this, how much
open source Tiddlywiki is? from an open source facilitator, and do
you need only one file to run Tiddlywiki?.

Perhaps you have also some aroused questions from the TW novice
 audience. Please tell.

If I could get Tiddlywiki well presented in some event, it would also
mean that I will get support from the organisator although probably
 less than enough:(

      Many thanks for the suggestions.

It seems that TiddlyWiki is hard for some people to get their
heads around. I'm hoping that by exploring how people who have
done so think about TiddlyWiki we might be able to make it easier
for others to understand what's going on. Furthermore, because
TiddlyWiki is general purpose it is not always obvious how it
can be used until you see how it is being used by others.

It would fun to do this as a meme on TiddlySpace, where we agree
on using the same questions as kick-off titles in each of our
      spaces.
Then people could browse through lots of answers to What is
TiddlyWiki for?. But initially I was thinking of emailing
directly some of the users I know from the general community
and from within BT, because not everyone with an interesting
story to tell is (yet) on TiddlySpace.

Hello shavin,

Handoko Suwono's post refers to one of Jeremy's in the thread on
TiddlyWiki Interview Questions [1].
While Jeremy collects questions for a questionnaire directed to long-
term users, Handoko asks for potential questions from novice users, or
even potential users, I think. Like: What is TiddlyWiki like? Is there
any comparable, better-known software?

What is TiddlyWiki? [1]
TiddlyWiki is a complete wiki in a single HTML file. It contains the
entire text of the wiki, and all the JavaScript, CSS and HTML goodness
to be able to display it, and let you edit it or search it - without
needing a server. Although, having said that, there are some fine
ServerSide adaptations out there.

TiddlyWiki is published under an OpenSourceLicense [2] and maintained
by a busy Community of independent developers.

Is TW open Source?
Yes: see [3]
UnaMesa [4] is a non-profit organisation that owns and holds the IPR
for TiddlyWiki in trust for the public.

how much open source TiddlyWiki is?
:) hihi. very much.
In my opinion, TiddlyWiki is 100% open source.

Since TW is designed to be extended by plugins, every plugin author is
free to decide which license she/he want to use.

Common plugin licenses are (incomplete list):

  * BSD Open Source license [2]
  * CC Creative Commons [5] all variations
  * MIT The MIT License [6]
  * some plugins are Public Domain
  * some plugins user there own Copyright notice.

do you need only one file to run Tiddlywiki?
primary: yes. see [1]
But due to browser implementations, for some browsers a
TiddlySaver.jar [7] file is needed to save content back to a local
html file.
IE and Firefox don't need this file. WebKit browsers like Chrome,
Safari, ... do need it. (please correct me, if I am wrong here)
TiddlySaver.jar needs to be in the same directory than the TiddlWiki
html file.
