You might find that it is not the remote but the SBT. I have the same issue with my SBT it will not respond to the SB remote. The remote will work my Radio and SB3. If you collect minute details , the Classic Remote has the brigthness button . It was used for ofcourse brightness on an SB2 or SB3 . But also to initiate firmware update with older versions of SB2/SB3 firmware , later firmware had a setting for auto update of fw . In that case, shipping from me to you is 6.20 EUR but as far as I know sending from US to Germany costs a good amount more and is probably more than the entire controller is worth. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] SBT Remote issue...
I would so love to help but it's too expensive to send the board round the world. I am sure this can be brought back to life but, honestly, some soldering experience is required for sure. In my experience all IR remote controllers are compatible to all Squeezebox devices. The difference is in what functionality each control offers. The Classic remote control has more buttons, all of which will trigger the respective function with a Squeezebox Touch. Here they are side by side: 24036 The button assignments vary from model to model but the IR codes are the same for given functions. The good thing about Classic IR controllers is that they do have just a shiny plastic surface in place of that pesky "soft touch" finish that tends to get sticky over time. On the other hand, out of 8 units I have / had, 3 had the IR emitter torn off the board because it sticks out of the case and is not secured by any means: 24037 If anybody (a child, typically) pokes at the emitter and pushes it inside, it will inevitable tear off its solder pad and stop working. So a little more care is recommended when handling these. +---+ |Filename: Classic IR Controller front.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=24037| +---+ PN me if your Boom / Classic / Transporter display has issues! Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] SBT Remote issue...
ummm... Tricky one that.I can see it may need soldering back on.If I was to get a soldering kit Could I do it...?? (Ive never used one before) Even if I master it, I guess it still may NOT WORK.sometimes you get real battered SBT on ebay with remote cheap...That for me is the ideal. Then theres these from the U.S..: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Logitech-Squeezebox-Remote-Touch-Classic-Radio-Boom-v3-Brand-New/161726297390?hash=item25a7a3752e:g:0IsAAOSwGPxZ5nqX maybe I could use a remote from the classic..? (I remember you said they were fragile in THE IR Dept.) do slim devices work with SBTs...??? daleyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=65604 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108262 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] SBT Remote issue...
Oops, not good. If you ripped the battery connector off the PCB, it will be hard to reattach it firmly enough so it does not come loose again. It's another point where stability relies 100% on the solder connection. You will also have to reconnect the thing to the PCB trace to which it was connected previously. Maybe this was the root cause all the time. If a corrosive agent from the battery has leaked onto the PCB, it will easily destroy the connective "vias" (the bright shiny lines connecting everything). It may also weaken their attachment to the board which might explain why the battery pad went off. If you know anybody with soldering skills, they might be the your best shot at rescuing the PCB. Otherwise it might be best to look for another used Touch remote on eBay if opening one of the original wrapped boxes is not an option - which I can understand very well! It could make $50 or more difference when you sell them as "never opened". PN me if your Boom / Classic / Transporter display has issues! Great Info..Many Thanks !. I will check batteries first (Sometimes the most Obvious Can be overlooked) My Spiral Connector Isnt as bad as the one in your Picture. However one is matt the other Shiny. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] SBT Remote issue...
To open the remote controller, you will need a flat stable tool like a metal spudger which you insert right below the top panel on one of the sides. Eight clips in the top piece attach to recessed areas in the bottom part of the remote control. You will have to carefully crank up one of these points for a start and then work your way around from there. 24031 The battery terminals on the PCB are then freely accessible as shown here. 24028 There is another piece of formed wire in the bottom housing to connect the battery poles on the adjacent side of these. Take a close look at them, too: 24030 You see here, it's worth it... +---+ |Filename: 2017-11-15 14.18.12 IMG_4204_Thumb.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=24031| +---+ PN me if your Boom / Classic / Transporter display has issues!
