[Touch-packages] [Bug 1365975] Re: Many dash elements lack Norwegian translation
None of these strings come from unity8 directly. They come from .desktop files of the respective apps (dialer-app, messaging-app, ubuntu-clock-app, ubuntu-filemanager-app, gallery-app, notes-app, ubuntu-rssreader-app) and the scope (unity-scope-scopes). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1365095] Re: Greeter not asking for pin code in image 11 (krillin)
Based on the guess that the removed sync dbus call in r2041 was causing a difference in timing, I added a sleep 5 to that same code line. That seems to fix the problem! Adding a sleep 5 to the lightdm upstart job however, does not fix the problem. There are no relevant upstart jobs that are waiting for started lightdm (only mpt does). It wasn't completely clear, but it helped. Now, with the new previews UI, you still can swipe left or right to open the adjacent previews, but they take up all of the screen, so there's no clue at all about this functionality. (See the attachments) Desired solution Leave as is on the phone. We will test this approach with users and if it is a problem, then we may add in an indication of being able to swipe left/right at a later date. However, this is non-vital functionality so I'm not so concerned that some users won't discover it. On tablet we will investigate adding an indication. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1365908] Re: mediascanner respawns on supposedly blacklisted video
This is extremely strange. This happens also with a version compiled from trunk. The problem seems to be that MediaStore will claim that a file is not broken even if the file in question is in the database. sqlite3 ~/.cache/mediascanner-2.0/mediastore.db select * from broken_files; gives /home/phablet/Videos/big_buck_bunny_480p_MPEG4_MP3_25fps_1600K_short.AVI|1409927801:865485 and so does sqlite3 ~/.cache/mediascanner-2.0/mediastore.db select * from broken_files where filename = '/home/phablet/Videos/big_buck_bunny_480p_MPEG4_MP3_25fps_1600K_short.AVI' and etag = '1409927801:865485'; However printf debugging on the device says that sqlite returns false when asked if the file is broken. The major headache is that this seems to happen nondeterministically. Sometimes the system will work. Then you delete the entire cache directory and then magically it will start failing. Or maybe it doesn't. Something really strange is going on here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to mediascanner2 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1365908 Title: mediascanner respawns on supposedly blacklisted video Status in “mediascanner2” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: big_buck_bunny_480p_MPEG4_MP3_25fps_1600K.AVI in my Videos folder causes mediascanner to repeatedly / rapidly respawn and crash. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1285721] Re: [Dash] With the new previews UI, there's no indication that you can swipe to next previews

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1309942] Re: Window Controls not functioning.
Sorry, this feature is not supported anymore for consistency reason: the ubuntu desktop moved the window controls to the left years ago, and unity designers decided to move window controls to the left of the windows when they are maximized. So, having window controls on the right for restored windows, and to the left when they're maximized just didn't make any sense. So, when implementing the new decorations in unity, we just decided to not support this anymore, reducing a lot the complexity of the code involved in layouting and disposing the elements in the decorations. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1365095] Re: Greeter not asking for pin code in image 11 (krillin)
OK, we tracked it down to a race between the fork in lightdm's session- child code and the cgroups being assigned to the process. If it took too long for the cgroups to be assigned, the session would have already been spawned and only the lightdm --session-child process would have the right cgroups, but the session itself wouldn't. But if the cgroups got assigned before the fork, they would be inherited correctly. The bug was in systemd-shim, which made an async call. Which meant that PAM might return before cgroups were assigned, which meant the race. desrt is going to fix it by just making that call sync. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to lightdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1365095 Title: Greeter not asking for pin code in image 11 (krillin) Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “unity8” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “unity8” package in Ubuntu RTM: New Status in “unity8” source package in 14.09: New Bug description: Flashed with: adb reboot bootloader; ubuntu-device-flash --channel =ubuntu-touch/utopic-proposed --bootstrap phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ system-image-cli -i current build number: 11 device name: krillin channel: ubuntu-touch/utopic-proposed last update: 2014-09-03 17:25:13 version version: 11 version ubuntu: 20140903.1 version device: 20140902-42bae3c Wizard worked fine, and I selected pin code, adding my passwd with 4 digits, but Unity8 is not requesting my pin once it's up (not even after reboot). We've identified a few problems in the patch, most of which can account for the symptoms people have seen and all of which being obviously correct bugfixes. Testcase: Get the fixes into utopic and trusty-proposed, wait for a week for new reports (here and on errors.ubuntu.com), if none were reported, push to -updates. While we know what we've fixed, actually reproducing the bug in the wild is notoriously difficult, we attempted various kind of stress tests over the past 2 months without much luck... [Touch-packages] [Bug 1313042] Re: console-kit-daemon Glib-CRITICAL warning
I have this bug as well and its not an option for me to purge the consoleikit. My problems are not the syslog messages, its that ssh hangs for about 10 seconds before it lets me login. I have students running mpi jobs, launching them takes minutes rather than seconds if ssh could connect as it should. I have verified that consolkit is in fact the problem by purging the consolekit, then ssh connections take a normal amount of time. Again this solution does not work for me as I need X11 logins with my x2go client. If someone had a work-around or a fix that they could post that would be much appreciated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to consolekit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313042 Title: console-kit-daemon Glib-CRITICAL warning Status in “consolekit” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The day I upgraded from 13.10 to 14.04 some of my ssh sessions into the new system (server side is Ubuntu 14.04) started hanging. The symptom is: I run some command with a lot of output (say a few hundreds of lines) in an ssh session, and the second the command completes, and the shell displays a new prompt, the shell stops responding to keyboard input. At the exact time of the hang (to the second) I always see these 3 warnings in syslog: Apr 21 18:15:25 xx console-kit-daemon[3357]: GLib-CRITICAL: Source ID 469 was not found when attempting to remove it Apr 21 18:15:25 xx console-kit-daemon[3357]: GLib-CRITICAL: Source ID 86 was not found when attempting to remove it Apr 21 18:15:25 xx console-kit-daemon[3357]: GLib-CRITICAL: Source ID 86 was not found when attempting to remove it The Source ID numbers vary, but the warnings always come in triplets at the time of the hang. I was able to reproduce this about 10 times today. Every time the session hangs, these warnings appear in the log and vice versa: every time they appear in the log, I have a hanged remote session. A quote from an upstream (bugzilla.gnome.org) comment: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=721369 GLib recently started throwing a warning when g_source_remove() is passed garbage (as per warning). Your applications have probably been broken for a while, and there's no telling what could actually have happened in the past when g_source_remove() would happily close any random source because the programmer got the wrong argument to g_source_remove(). So based on this I'm opening a bug against consolekit for bad calls to g_source_remove() which seem to be related to the ssh hang. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1366143] [NEW] Impossible to answer to SMS from indicator-messages
Public bug reported: What is expected : In the indicator-messages, being able to answer to SMS directly without having to open the messaging-app What happens : Sometimes I can't answer directly : The SMS appear, I can enter some text with the keyboard, but I can't click the send button because it's disabled (grey instead of orange). 1/4 to 1/3 of the SMS I receive are concerned. If I can't answer the SMS, the button in the top- right of the item works and I open the app this way to answer How to reproduce : I don't see any reason for the SMS not to be answerable. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1365864] Re: fsck.ext4 broken on FS created with bigalloc
It depends on the version of e2fsprogs in Ubuntu (which is't specified in this bug report). The bug appeared in 1.42.9-3, and was fixed in 1.42.11-1. The bigalloc file system is also notone which is used by default by most users. (and probably shouldn't be unless you really know what you are doing; there are real tradeoffs involved with its use, so it's a bit of an advanced feature). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to e2fsprogs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1365864 Title: fsck.ext4 broken on FS created with bigalloc Status in “e2fsprogs” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Main reference: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=744953 e2fsprogs in Ubuntu 14.04 is affected by this bug that, caused e2fsck to abort a journal replay on a filesystem with bigalloc enabled. Since Snap notifications require a minimum of 2 buttons, the only choice is to implement the Snooze functionality and replace the Show button with Snooze. However Snooze was decided to be implemented as part of the SDK Alarms API which is worked on by zsombor. As per the blueprint at [1], the snooze functionality was to be implemented in revision 0.2 (post- RTM). However we require a solution to the above issue before RTM. - Proposed Solution - It was decided after discussing with Mirco Mueller, Giorgio Venturi and Daniela Ferrai to implement the Snooze functionality as a workaround in the Indicator-datetime by dismissing the notification and showing it again after the snooze duration. The full design spec is described below. 1. Provide a settings option in dbus to set the snooze duration that the clock app can expose in the settings page to allow the user to choose the snooze duration. This is shown in [2]. The snooze duration options will be 2, 4, 5 and 10 minutes. 2. On pressing the Ok button in the snap notification, the alarm will be dismissed permanently for the day. 3. If the user pressed Snooze, then indicator-datetime should dismiss the snap notification and show it again after the snooze duration. This process will be repeated until the alarm timeout defined by the user in the clock app settings. By default that timeout is 30 minutes. This will require a Go/No-Go decision from Charles Kerr regarding the implementation in indicator-datetime since as mentioned above this will be a workaround and workaround are not permanent solutions.
