Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find. ** Information type changed from Private Security to Public -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1626335 Title: "Trying to install preload gave error while updating systemd" package systemd 225-1ubuntu9.1 [modified: usr/share/dbus-1/system- services/org.freedesktop.systemd1.service] failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I was trying to install preload in my system. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1626350] Re: package initramfs-tools 0.122ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The version of update-initramfs that you likely have installed is unable to work on a persistent usb stick. You can resolve this issue by upgrading the version of casper on your system. This can be done via the commands: sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install casper Then performing the software update or installation that you were originally trying. If this does not resolve your bug please set its status back to New. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1489329] Re: MX4 GPS doesn't work at all
GPS has been not working on my Meizu MX4 for a long time time now. Recently it went back to life after the OTA 13 update but only for a couple of hours. After I tried to connect to WIFI, the GPS dropped. And now, after reboot, or delete the config file as advised in previous comments, I am back to the No-GPS state. It used to work sometimes when wifi was available but now it seems that the phone is also recently having big problems connecting to WIFI (cannot connect to my work wifi for instance). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to location-service in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1489329 Title: MX4 GPS doesn't work at all Status in Canonical System Image: Confirmed Status in location-service package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When using location for navigation, GPS is essential. Location can also be based on Wifi or phone network, but accuracy for that is insufficient for driving/geocaching/any application except nearby restaurants. I can currently only get a location based on wifi / phone network. If I disable this feature, I get no location at all. Not after reboot, not sometimes, not ever. Trying to do: Navigate using GPS and/or network What I expect: Accuracy is high with all location services on. It decreases slightly when network based location is switched off. It decreases sharply when only GPS is switched off. What happens: Accuracy is very low (30m - 2000m) with all location services on. Location is impossible when network based location is switched off. It doesn't make a difference if I switch the GPS on or off. This may be a hardware issue, and I'll probably be sending in my phone (MX4) for check/repair, but that would mean missing my phone. I'd much rather troubleshoot myself. I already have location test and sensorsstatus to monitor this, but I want to know more about if the chip is functioning. Which logs are relevant? I've thought about flashing android on and seeing if that helps (which makes it a software issue), or doesn't (which makes it a hardware issue). Is there an easier way to get an answer to the software/hardware question? Thanks! [Touch-packages] [Bug 1609898] Re: dhclient incorrectly assumes a /64 ipv6 prefix
** Description changed: [Impact] clients who get an ipv6 address from a dhcpv6 server assume the address has a /64 prefix, but that is not necessarily true, and if the subnet is different than /64 those clients will not be able to reach other addresses in that /64 prefix because the other systems are not on-link. This /64 assumption of dhclient effectively breaks the client networking for certain addresses. [Test Case] Set up a server with two interface nics, and one client connected to each of those interfaces. On the server, set up a ipv6 subnet on each interface, with a larger prefix than /64, e.g.: 2001:db8:0:0:1::/96 2001:db8:0:0:2::/96 configure dhcpv6 on the server, to provide ipv6 addresses on each interface. Set the server as the default ipv6 route for the clients. Allow the clients to get dhcpv6 ipv6 addresses from the server. The clients will each get a ipv6 address with a /64 prefix, due to the bug in dhclient. Try to ping (or otherwise communicate) between the clients. Since they have /64 prefixes, they think they are on-link with each other, but they are not, so they can't communicate. After the dhclient bug is fixed, repeat the above setup, and the clients will get /128 prefixes instead, and then will be able to communicate with each other, because they will route the traffic to each other through the server. - [Regression potential] + [Regression Potential] Non-standard (i.e. not /64) subnets served by dhcpv6 currently are broken, this fixes that. However, any ipv6 network configurations that rely on the previous incorrect assumed /64 behavior (as described here: https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5942#section-5) in order to allow dhcpv6 clients to communicate with other systems inside the subnet, but do not use RA to also provide clients with the actual prefix len, will break. To clarify: a server that provides clients with dhcpv6 addresses, but does not also provide the prefix len via RA, will change behavior; previously, all clients on the subnet could talk directly to each other, with this update the clients cannot talk to each other directly; all traffic between clients will be routed through the default gateway. Further, if the network does not provide a default gateway - for example a local network that is intended only for traffic between local servers - the clients will not be able to talk to each other at all. Note that such configurations *are* broken configurations, that just happened to work before because of incorrect dhcp client behavior; such configurations must be updated to perform RA to provide the prefix len to clients. - - [Other info] + [Other Info] This is fixed in debian: + https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=684009 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to isc-dhcp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1609898 Title: dhclient incorrectly assumes a /64 ipv6 prefix Status in isc-dhcp package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: New Status in isc-dhcp source package in Precise: Fix Committed Status in network-manager source package in Precise: Invalid Status in isc-dhcp source package in Trusty: Fix Committed Status in network-manager source package in Trusty: New Status in isc-dhcp source package in Xenial: Fix Committed Status in network-manager source package in Xenial: New Status in isc-dhcp source package in Yakkety: Fix Committed Status in network-manager source package in Yakkety: New Status in isc-dhcp package in Debian: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] clients who get an ipv6 address from a dhcpv6 server assume the address has a /64 prefix, but that is not necessarily true, and if the subnet is different than /64 those clients will not be able to reach other addresses in that /64 prefix because the other systems are not on-link. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1609898] Re: dhclient incorrectly assumes a /64 ipv6 prefix
Unfortunately, while I initially put in the bug description that there was no regresssion potential, I've been made aware that some network configurations rely on the previous (incorrect) behavior of the dhcp client to set a prefix len of /64. Such configurations will break when the dhcp clients are updated, and the dhcp server must be updated to use Router Advertisements to provide the prefix len to dhcp clients. I updated the description's Regressions section with more details. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1609898] Re: dhclient incorrectly assumes a /64 ipv6 prefix
@arges, yep the attached lp1609898-nm-[trusty|xenial|yakkety].debdiff patches update network-manager's test script to the new behavior. I can pull the patches out of the debdiffs, if that's easier. I did a brief search in the network-manager tests and didn't find any other place that looks like it's testing the dhcpv6-provided address; I'll also try nm with the updated isc-dhcp-client to see if anything breaks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to isc-dhcp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1609898 Title: dhclient incorrectly assumes a /64 ipv6 prefix Status in isc-dhcp package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: New Status in isc-dhcp source package in Precise: Fix Committed Status in network-manager source package in Precise: Invalid Status in isc-dhcp source package in Trusty: Fix Committed Status in network-manager source package in Trusty: New Status in isc-dhcp source package in Xenial: Fix Committed Status in network-manager source package in Xenial: New Status in isc-dhcp source package in Yakkety: Fix Committed Status in network-manager source package in Yakkety: New Status in isc-dhcp package in Debian: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] clients who get an ipv6 address from a dhcpv6 server assume the address has a /64 prefix, but that is not necessarily true, and if the subnet is different than /64 those clients will not be able to reach other addresses in that /64 prefix because the other systems are not on-link. [Regression potential] None. Non-standard (i.e. not /64) subnets served by dhcpv6 currently are broken, this fixes that. [Other info] This is fixed in debian: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=684009 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/isc-dhcp/+bug/1609898/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1420640] Re: upstart job fails to start with "limit nofile unlimited unlimited"
I figured out our problem. We lowered `fs.nr_open` on the non-working systems from the - apparent default - of `1048576` to `655360`. The docker package set a limit higher than our new limit, so the process was failing to start. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1626248] [NEW] libunistring0 has not been updated since 2010
Public bug reported: Libunistring is updated by FSF for every new version of Unicode. The current version of libunistring is 0.9.6 and has support for unicode version 9. The version shipped with Ubuntu is 0.9.3 which supports Unicode 7. Since the lib was last updated Unicode has added more than 14,000 new code points which includes emoji support. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1341890] Re: [X550LA, Realtek ALC3236, Mic, Internal] No sound at all
I have a similar problem : the microphone doesn't work *when the mic- boost is on*. So with pulseaudio, you shoud try to reduce the sound until is disable mic-boost (quite annoying to do), or you can use "alsamixer" to set "Mic Boost" to 0. It gives at least sound, but it's not very high... If anyone knows how to be able to use the mic boost I would be very interested ! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1341890 Title: [X550LA, Realtek ALC3236, Mic, Internal] No sound at all Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I've been trying to fix this myself for a while now, and just a day or two ago, the speakers stopped working, too. Neither the internal nor external speakers I've been using with my laptop have been working, with two exceptions: the bongos noise when the login screen comes up, and the tones made during a system test. I have tried the commands "alsamixer" and "gstreamer-properties" in terminal and have had success with neither of them, and have also tried using the pulse audio volume controls to no avail. My assumption is that there is an issue with the drivers, as even the microphone produced a few sporadic noises ONLY when I was playing with the mic volume controls, but at no other point in no other program has it been so responsive. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1609898] Re: dhclient incorrectly assumes a /64 ipv6 prefix
@ddstreet, Can you propose a patch for network manager to adjust test cases to this new behavior? I'm wondering if there are other parts of network-manager that may expect /64 instead of /128 and break existing users. [Regression potential] None. Non-standard (i.e. not /64) subnets served by dhcpv6 currently are broken, this fixes that.
