Title:
Bionic Beaver - not able to connect to WPA Enterprise EAP-TLS

Status in NetworkManager:
  Confirmed
Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Hello,

since update to Bionic Beaver I can't connect to my WPA2-Entertrise EAP TLS
network. Running Freeradius 2.29 on a DDWRT router. In 16.04 it worked, in the
dual boot Windows 10 environment it is still working with the same certificates.
It is a hidden network, adding it by "connect to a hidden network" entering
SSID, UserID, ca.pem as CA cert, user cert xxx.p12 file and user certificate
password.
Tried a lot not getting it working. The password entry dialog for the network
is always popping up upon connection trials. The password is for sure the
correct one, checked it very often.
If I'm able to I'll attach a syslog and kern.log of error occurense.

  Thanks for investigation and inputs.

  Best regards

  Kitsab

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1725840] Re: resolvconf not correctly configured after update from 17.04 to 17.10

2018-01-08 Thread Anupam Datta
In my case it works well with WiFi network, But the Ethernet network is
having the issue. In same port other machine works, but not mine.
Earlier with 16:04 it used to work.

Title:
resolvconf not correctly configured after update from 17.04 to 17.10

Status in resolvconf package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
After having updated my laptop from Ubuntu 17.04 to 17.10, the DNS
lookup on my wireless network connection did not work any more.

As it seems, the file /etc/resolv.conf was static and contained wrong
data assigned by the NetworkManager. When I changed the file content
  manually to

nameserver 127.0.0.53

DNS lookup worked fine. After reboot, however, I had to repeat this
operation since NetworkManager seems to have replaced the file
  content.

Finally, I found a solution. Running

  sudo dpkg-reconfigure resolvconf

the file /etc/resolv.conf was replaced by the link

  /etc/resolv.conf -> ../run/resolvconf/resolv.conf

Now, the wireless network seems to work properly.

Hence, there must be some kind of bug during the update process from
Ubuntu 17.04 to 17.10 that impedes resolvconf to be configured
  properly.

  Best regards,

  Artur

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1588349] Re: Checking for updates never finishes on 3G when no updates available

2016-12-12 Thread Anupam
** Description changed:

If I'm using wi-fi and go to settings and then select updates, "Checking for
updates..." screen appears with a spinner for a few seconds; if there is any
update available it shows, otherwise informs about the unavailability of
updates.
But while using mobile data (3G/H) *if there is no update available*, it gets
stuck on the "Checking for updates..." screen and the spinner keeps spinning. I
waited as long as 10-15 minutes.
Note: If there is an update available then the behaviour is normal, i.e.
shows the available update(s) after a few seconds.
I'm seeing this behaviour from the very beginning (OTA-6 days).

  Related to bug #1528886
+
+ UPDATE: It's gotten weirder after the introduction of the new update
+ panel in OTA-13. When there is an update available, it keeps on
+ "Checking for updates..." along with the list of available updates:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1612367] Re: [Touch] Incoming call gets silent randomly

2016-12-09 Thread Anupam
Still present after OTA-14.
I noticed something new today. Got a call on 2016-12-09 at around 15:11 UTC,
there was not ringtone (but I answered the call). After ~2 minutes (at around
15:13 UTC), I got a text message but I didn't hear any sound alert. It is not
like bug #1544477, where *all* SMS and screenshots used to get silent until a
reboot.

Bug description:
I've experienced this strange issue 4-5 times after OTA-12. It seems pretty
random and is hard to reproduce.
When I get an incoming call, the screen turns on, the incoming call pop up
appears, but there is no sound at all even though the phone is not in silent
mode (and also the speaker volume is not set too low). I can accept this call
and keep conversing as usual.
Once I asked the same caller to call me once again after a few minutes, that
time the phone rang as expected.

  Device: E5, OTA-12, stable channel

I can provide necessary logs if this happens again. Which ones should
  I gather?

  Possibly related to bug #1614943.

UPDATE: As mentioned in comment #7, it seems the phone rings for a

2016-12-05 Thread Anupam
I haven't experienced this issue after OTA-13 for a single time
(Although I usually reboot my phone after 3-4 days for other things).

The date-time indicator shows all-day events from google calendar one day
before the actual date of the event. For example, the event happening on Monday
is shown on Sunday. It applies for both the calendar and the list of events in
the indicator.
At the same, the Calendar App shows the all-day events correctly.

This behavior is related to the time zone. My time zone is UTC+3. When
I set the zone to UTC+0, the indicator shows the all-day events
  correctly.

This bug looks just like Bug #1261191, but for Unity 8.
It also seems to be somehow related to Bug #1641720 and Bug #1641726. But
after marking them as fixed, this one is still present.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1612367] Re: [Touch] Incoming call gets silent randomly

2016-11-17 Thread Anupam
This part from the description of bug #1642635 sounds interesting:
"It seems to me that this is most likely to happen if I haven't used the phone
in a while. If I answer the call (because I notice the screen) or make a call,
testing immediately after the phone does seem to consistently ring."

I experienced the same. Once I couldn't pick up the call because of no
ringtone. Then I called the same person after ~5 minutes and asked them
to call me back in an attempt to reproduce the issue. They called after
~5 minutes, but that time the ringer worked fine. Also as I mentioned in
comment #18, I got two calls within ~1 minute. First one didn't ring,
but the second one rang.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1614943] Re: No ringtone on incoming calls

Is a reboot required to restore normality as mentioned in the

Excuse this naive comment, but if I'm not mistaken, while the phone
rings on an incoming call, pressing the power button pauses the
ringtone. Is it possible that the same/similar action is simulated here
even when the user is not pressing the power button?

P.S. Worse part is when I tried to activate vibration on incoming calls

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1607185] Re: It's difficult to close the launcher without tapping on something you didn't want to

2016-09-26 Thread Anupam
@Daniel Thanks for the explanation. I mistakenly thought it is marked so
because it requires more info from the users.

Bug description:
It's difficult to close the launcher without tapping on something you
  didn't want to.

  Test case:
1. Open an app.
2. Open the launcher swiping from the left.
3. Close the launcher without triggering any touches in the app.

Expected: Tapping outside the launcher will close it without touches reaching
the app.
Observed: Tapping outside the launcher closes it but unwanted touches reach
the app.

You can close the launcher by swiping it back off the side, but it's
too small to do that very easily without also accidentally touching
  the top-most app.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1516696] Re: SMS notifications are received only when the phone is unlocked

2016-09-21 Thread Anupam
@Pat sorry, I didn't understand the technical details. My question: is
this applicable for SMS notifications only, or Telegram notifications
can also be delayed (till the next screen wake up) for the same/similar
reason? I sometimes have this problem with Telegram notifications, so
wondering whether the same issue or a different bug.

This happened multiple times already but I think I ignored them and this
seems to have started after OTA-7 was released.

  EXPECTED:
The phone should have the vibration, notification bubble/indicator and sound
alert even if the phone is locked.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1626085] [NEW] Requires double backspaces to delete other skin-tone emojis

2016-09-21 Thread Anupam
Public bug reported:

Steps:
1. Enter one emoji which is not of the primary skin tone (yellow) in any text
field, for example  (Thumbs Up Sign, Type-6, i.e. black skin tone).
2. Tap on the backspace key.

Expected:
The entered emoji gets deleted.

What happens:
The emoji turns into a primary colour (yellow) one (). Tap on the backspace
key once more, then it gets deleted.

This is actually not totally surprising as when one chooses a non-
primary skin tone, two characters are entered (the base emoji + the skin
modifier). But from a user's perspective it feels kinda strange.
Telegram desktop client (and probably other phone OS's too) deletes the
emoji after a single backspace.

Device: E5, stable, OTA-13

Bug description:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1612367] Re: [Touch] Incoming call gets silent randomly

2016-08-31 Thread Anupam
Here is the latest log. I got a call on 2016-08-31 at around 06:31 UTC,
there was no ringtone (TBH it rang for a fraction of a second and
stopped abruptly. I had the phone just in front of me, so I could
observe this behaviour. Otherwise I couldn't possibly have realised
this.). Got another at around 06:46 UTC, this time rang fine.

attached step01.png
  * Activating side bar/pressing on Ubuntu icon shows that the rest of scopes
were updated, but they somehow ended up above today screen controls, see

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1612367] Re: [Touch] Incoming call gets silent randomly

2016-08-20 Thread Anupam
** Description changed:

I've experienced this strange issue 4-5 times after OTA-12. It seems pretty
random and is hard to reproduce.
When I get an incoming call, the screen turns on, the incoming call pop up
appears, but there is no sound at all even though the phone is not in silent
mode (and also the speaker volume is not set too low). I can accept this call
and keep conversing as usual.
Once I asked the same caller to call me once again after a few minutes, that
time the phone rang as expected.

  Device: E5, OTA-12, stable channel

I can provide necessary logs if this happens again. Which ones should I
  gather?
+
+ Possibly related to bug #1614943.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1544477] Re: No sound notification for new SMS (Ubuntu Touch)

2016-08-19 Thread Anupam
I concur with @GTriderXC. Exactly the same behaviour! Many times I leave
my phone untouched except a few calls, Telegram messages, and casual
web-browsing sessions (can't avoid these, as I mentioned before this
phone is my daily driver), but then 1-2 days later again the same no-
SMS-sound-issue. I really hope fixes for bug #1506953 and bug #1596329
get rid of this nuisance.

2016-08-18 Thread Anupam
I'm having this issue as frequently as before even after OTA-12, but I
couldn't find steps to reproduce the issue reliably. What happens is
usually after 1-2 days after a reboot, this issue appears out of
nowhere. Also deleting ubuntu-phablet-stream-volumes.tdb file is
redundant, a reboot only makes things normal again.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1612942] Re: Underlined word doesn't get submitted in some apps such ass Talaan

2016-08-17 Thread Anupam
According to the developer of Talaan (comment #7 of bug #1559940), this
happens when one has "word suggestions" (dictionary) on. As a workaround
one has to either put one extra space after the last word or select the
desired (last) word from the list of suggestions after typing all the
time.

Status in ubuntu-keyboard package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  In Talaan:

  1. Create new TODO item
  2. Type a few words, don't type a space after the last word. This word stays
underlined.
  3. Press the "+" to add the TODO item

Expected result: the complete sentence is submitted

Actual result: The last word isn't submitted.

When pressing space after the last word, the word stops being
underlined. If you press the + then, the whole sentence gets
  submitted.

I have experienced the same behavior in other apps such as facebook messenger.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1544477] Re: No sound notification for new SMS (Ubuntu Touch)

2016-08-14 Thread Anupam
@Devid The issue reappeared and I tried everything you suggested. Here are the
observations/outputs:
- Sound icon doesn't change while receiving an SMS
- I tried step 4 of your original suggestion (adjust volume after typing a
number in dialer-app). While typing numbers dialer-app produced dialpad-tone as
usual. But pressing volume buttons after that only changed the "speaker volume"
which was already high.
- I seldom use apps which use audio.
- Output of 'pactl list sink-inputs' are attached herewith.

@Devid Thanks for your suggestions. To answer your queries:
1. I don't think so.
2. If I remember correctly, the sound icon doesn't change. I'll check again.
3. No, I seldom play music and videos on the phone.
4. I'll check this once the issue reappears. I already tried the top portion of
comment #5 (try to turn up the volume as soon as an SMS arrives), but didn't
seem helpful. It only changed the speaker volume which was already high.

@Jim The last time I experienced this issue was last night at around
21:00 hrs. I couldn't pick up the call because of no ring. Then I called
the same person after ~5 minutes and asked them to call me back in an
attempt to reproduce the issue. They called after ~5 minutes, but this
time the ringer worked fine, and I dismissed the call. After that today
I got a call at afternoon, phone rang this time too. I haven't rebooted
in-between.

Which ones should
  I gather?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1607185] Re: It's difficult to close the launcher without tapping on something you didn't want to

2016-08-06 Thread Anupam
I second Daniel. This is fine with desktop/laptop/tablet, but
unintuitive for phone use (staged mode). The launcher takes ~20% of the
screen in portrait mode, and then it feels awkward when you can't
dismiss it.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1525474] Re: Indic characters are not visible

2016-08-05 Thread Anupam
** Description changed:

Ubuntu Touch is not displaying characters of many Indic scripts
including Bengali (except Devnagari). Any app or webpage containing
characters from these scripts are shown blank.

A quick examination of /usr/share/fonts showed that the required fonts
were missing. After I added fonts myself, rendering was okay. I am
proposing the addition of the following packages.

  ttf-bengali-fonts
  ttf-gujarati-fonts
  ttf-kannada-fonts

It happens that I have the phone or tablet just there on the desk for
a day without actually using it. Sometimes, during that time, a snap
decision is triggered, for example the WiFi password dialog.

This snap decision stays there forever, without timeout and blocks
other notifications. There are 2 issues with that:

  1) Because other notifications are blocked, I'd missing incoming SMS
or other notifications until I deal with the WiFi password prompt.

  2) If this situation is stuck for a day, after removing the snap
decision, all the built up queue is delivered one by one. This leads
to multiple minutes of the device annoying the user with (mostly old
and outdated) notifications. See the attached video. Note that I've
been swiping notifications away for a while already before deciding to
record the video. There were mny more in the queue.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1589703] Re: Alarm clock icon doesn't disappear (appears randomly) when alarm inactive

2016-07-11 Thread Anupam
I'm experiencing the alarm cock icon appearing at midnight for last two weeks
without a miss!
Here's my setup:
- I have 4 alarms in the alarm list.
- I activate one/two alarm(s) for the morning (no fixed time, I modify
according to my need everyday). I don't activate at the previous night, I do on
the same day (after 01:00).
- I cancel the active alarm(s) in the morning after they go off. Some days I
hit snooze 2-3 times.
- Repeat on the next day!

  What happens:
Emoji is currently its own keyboard. Because the globe button only allows you

than one language is being inputed.

  Expected:
Emoji could be an extension of every keyboard rather than the keybaord
