[Touch-packages] [Bug 1471581] Re: Delete string in the messaging indicator is confusing
Ok, this may actually come from using Menus.GroupedMessageMenu with removable: true that goes down to StandardMenu.qml in ubuntu-settings- components that is using the deprecated ListItems.Empty that has the Delete string. ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress = Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1466790 Title: dhclient does not remain running on boot Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Bug description: Not sure whether this is a systemd or ifupdown issue. I just happened to notice today for a Wily VM (set up from server iso) that I failed to get a DNS resolution for a VM I started earlier the day. DNS updates in my case are related to DHCP updates. And on the DHCP/DNS server I noticed that the IP address had been removed at some point. Looking at the VM, I find no dhclient being started. When I manually run ifdown and ifup on the interface this does happen. But not whenever I boot. Curious about this I also checked a Vivid VM (also server install) and this looks the same. However for Vivid this seems fixed in the latest versions. Network config in /etc/network/interfaces: auto eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp Expected result: dhclient running for eth0 Actual result after boot: No dhclient process is running. [Touch-packages] [Bug 861137] Re: Openssl TLS errors while connecting to SSLv3 sites
Hi patrick, we have exactly the same problem. Disabling SSL and everything related to openssl just fails (and requests) Nevertheless you told about this problem only occurring with TLS versions other than 1.2, so I disabled all other TLS versions server side, but the problem remains . I checked btw your site too and this it where it becomes funny: - curl seems to work fine - openssl fails (same error, with OpenSSL 1.0.1f 6 Jan 2014) - python request (2.7) fails So any tips, especially with requests, would be greatly appreciated. I tried building requests with custom OpenSSL version, but got no luck so far. @Seth Arnold: I submitted a bug. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssl/+bug/1475228 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to openssl in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/861137 Title: Openssl TLS errors while connecting to SSLv3 sites Status in openssl package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I upgraded to Oneiric Ocelot beta1. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1458694] Re: [vivid-overlay] unity8 fails to start on the emulator
I don't think it always has to look ugly. If your original texture is sufficiently smooth then the accuracy of the the hardware minification (or even using GL_NEAREST) is not a significant factor. That said, I was a bit lazy and used the same approach on the titlebar text and that's indeed a bit ugly. Elements that don't need pixel-sized fineness however actually end up quite nice. If we had a UI design with fewer thin lines it would be quite feasible. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to mir in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1458694 Title: [vivid-overlay] unity8 fails to start on the emulator Status in Canonical System Image: Confirmed Status in Mir: Invalid Status in mir package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ system-image-cli -i current build number: 140 device name: generic_x86 channel: ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/ubuntu last update: 2015-05-25 12:02:10 version version: 140 version ubuntu: 20150525 version device: 20150210 version custom: 20150525 When starting unity8 (this started at image 136, probably when mir 0.13 landed): phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ cat ./.cache/upstart/unity8.log () [1432595001.896139] mirplatform: Found graphics driver: dummy [1432595001.898447] mirplatform: Found graphics driver: android qtmir.mir: MirServer created [1432595003.675225] Server: Starting [1432595003.679331] Loader: Loading modules from: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mir/server-platform [1432595003.679501] Loader: Loading module: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mir/server-platform/graphics-dummy.so [1432595003.680673] Loader: Loading module: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mir/server-platform/input-stub.so [1432595003.681107] WARNING Loader: Failed to load module: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mir/server-platform/input-stub.so (error was:/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mir/server-platform/input-stub.so: undefined symbol: _ZN3mir6events10make_eventExx17MirKeyboardActionjij) [1432595003.684868] Loader: Loading module: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mir/server-platform/graphics-android.so.2 [1432595003.685014] mirplatform: Found graphics driver: dummy [1432595003.685211] mirplatform: Found graphics driver: android [1432595003.685416] Platform Loader: Selected driver: android (version 0.13.0) qtmir.mir: PromptSessionListener::PromptSessionListener - this= PromptSessionListener(0x9679764) qtmir.mir: SessionListener::SessionListener - this= SessionListener(0x9676d24) qtmir.mir: MirShell::MirShell [1432595003.883766] DisplayServer: Mir version 0.13.0 QtCompositor::setAllWindowsExposed true qtmir.clipboard: D-Bus registration successful. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1124071] Re: [tabs] Cannot add Tabs programmatically
@Niklas Tabs component is not deprecated from UITK point of view. Design uses slightly different naming than UITK for components they design, they call Tabs now the component we call Sections (the strip bar under right below the page header). The old Tabs design is deprecated, but Tabs ended up in the hamburger (drawer) on the page header's left side :) @Roman, we are busy with bringing the convergence components to market so you guys can use them and file bugs, so we can fix them together with you guys asap. We will reload this work once the urgent tasks are done, but as long as the Repeater + model approach works, we won't consider this as critical. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1458694] Re: [vivid-overlay] unity8 fails to start on the emulator
Sounds like an expensive way of doing things. Is there a reason why we can't just render standard toolkit elements as very high res textures and use good old texture minification with GL_LINEAR filtering? That's both fast and portable, because OpenGL has had it since last century :) A couple of examples where we do so in Mir demos: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~mir-team/mir/development-branch/view/head:/playground/demo-shell/demo_renderer.cpp -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to mir in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1458694 Title: [vivid-overlay] unity8 fails to start on the emulator Status in Canonical System Image: Confirmed Status in Mir: Invalid Status in mir package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ system-image-cli -i current build number: 140 device name: generic_x86 channel: ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/ubuntu last update: 2015-05-25 12:02:10 version version: 140 version ubuntu: 20150525 version device: 20150210 version custom: 20150525 When starting unity8 (this started at image 136, probably when mir 0.13 landed): phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ cat ./.cache/upstart/unity8.log () [1432595001.896139] mirplatform: Found graphics driver: dummy [1432595001.898447] mirplatform: Found graphics driver: android qtmir.mir: MirServer created [1432595003.675225] Server: Starting [1432595003.679331] Loader: Loading modules from: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mir/server-platform [1432595003.679501] Loader: Loading module: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mir/server-platform/graphics-dummy.so [1432595003.680673] Loader: Loading module: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mir/server-platform/input-stub.so [1432595003.681107] WARNING Loader: Failed to load module: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mir/server-platform/input-stub.so (error was:/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mir/server-platform/input-stub.so: undefined symbol: _ZN3mir6events10make_eventExx17MirKeyboardActionjij) [1432595003.684868] Loader: Loading module: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mir/server-platform/graphics-android.so.2 [1432595003.685014] mirplatform: Found graphics driver: dummy [1432595003.685211] mirplatform: Found graphics driver: android [1432595003.685416] Platform Loader: Selected driver: android (version 0.13.0) qtmir.mir: PromptSessionListener::PromptSessionListener - this= PromptSessionListener(0x9679764) qtmir.mir: SessionListener::SessionListener - this= SessionListener(0x9676d24) qtmir.mir: MirShell::MirShell [1432595003.883766] DisplayServer: Mir version 0.13.0 QtCompositor::setAllWindowsExposed true qtmir.clipboard: D-Bus registration successful. The C++11 ABI has now stabilized in gcc as of gcc 5; however, before we can switch to gcc 5, we first need to be able to do rebuild tests of the archive against this compiler. This is just an example, a2p creates many similar errors. Other example: # crreate translation table for ($i = 32; $i 28; $i++) { rintfprintf('%02x', $i)} = sprintf('%c', $i); } is is heads header, print it lie: while () { chomp; # stip record separator @Fld = split(/[,\n]/, $_, -1); if (/^C_ID/) { print $_; next line; } if 0-9]0-9]/) { Notice, label lie is there, not line, notice comment crreate, notice that condition in for loop is $i28 but should be $i128, notice AWK line XT[sprintf(%02x, i)]=sprintf(%c, i); was translated to rintfprintf('%02x', $i)} = sprintf('%c', $i); and notice the last line with if. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1458694] Re: [vivid-overlay] unity8 fails to start on the emulator
The UbuntuShape in the UITK requires support for standard derivatives in shaders so that it can nicely anti-alias distance fields (for the corners) under any scale factor. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1458694] Re: [vivid-overlay] unity8 fails to start on the emulator
Daniel, relying on HW texture minification (or magnification) filters is fast but quite ugly in terms of contour anti-aliasing quality. Using distance fields instead allows for instance to have a 16x16 contour texture that can be rendered at 256x256 at perfect quality. It just requires a texture lookup and a smoothstep(). Retrieving the standard derivatives is almost free since the 4 texels required for the subtraction have already been fetched during the texture lookup (so still cached). It is the perfect thing for the shape since we need to get the shape mask under any scale factor as required by our grid unit system. This technique has been used for a decade now and is efficient, easy to implement and lightweigth in terms of texture usage. This is for instance also used by QML for text rendering. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. Thanks in advance! [Touch-packages] [Bug 1467602] Re: after screenlock and screen suspend, external display port monitor doesn't resume properly
I updated to A04 and it did not make a difference. $ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date A04 05/15/2015 Furthermore, I tried on 4.0 and 4.1 kernels (keeping the 15.04 userspace) and this also made no difference. You asked to specify what happened with A04, it is the same as the description: I have a Dell XPS 13 9343 with external display link monitor which I use in non-mirrored mode as two different screens. If the screen locks and suspends (simply locking is not enough) if I tap a key/move the mouse/etc the laptop screen comes up and the external monitor flashes on, but then the external monitor goes blank (but I can see its backlight is on). If I login, the desktop seems to think it is off and all of open windows are rearranged (it even puts some on different workspaces). ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1467602 Title: after screenlock and screen suspend, external display port monitor doesn't resume properly Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have a Dell XPS 13 9343 with external display link monitor which I use in non-mirrored mode as two different screens. The only thing resembling a workaround is if I tap a key, watch when the external monitor is blank, then turn off the external monitor, then turn it on, then unlock the screen. This isn't great though-- some windows are invisible and rearranged and I have to cycle through the different workspaces to find them and put them back. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1475174] Re: Unity launcher badges too small for smaller icons
'Too small' is a function of screen size, pixel density, viewing distance, and user preference. For that reason, the only reasonable solution for this would be to provide a user-visible per-display configuration option with a reasonable default based on the display's scaling factor. This would make a good first project for someone looking to dive in to Unity development. ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1475174 Title: Unity launcher badges too small for smaller icons Status in unity package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: If, using unity-tweak, you drop the size of launcher icons down to a smaller size - say 32px - the badges that count things like unread messages are too small. This is important when deciding whether to put it into Flight Mode, when leaving Wi-Fi coverage, or when adjusting settings. It also makes apps seem less responsive when they were developed by someone who has a much faster Internet connection than you do. These issues can be resolved by implementing the network activity indicator. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Networking#activity-indicator https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Networking#activity-indicator: Therefore on the phone and tablet only, the “Network activity” indicator, a spinner, should be present whenever any process has used the network in the past five seconds.
