[Touch-packages] [Bug 1059872] Re: Error formatting disk using disk utility
I just ran into on 16.10 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to util-linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1059872 Title: Error formatting disk using disk utility Status in DarGUI: New Status in util-linux package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in util-linux source package in Trusty: Triaged Status in util-linux package in Debian: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] Formatting a SD card using the disk utility fails with an error message "Error formatting disk - Error synchronizing after initial wipe: Timed out waiting for object (udisks-error-quark, 0)" The underlying problem is that the "wipefs" tool from util-linux does not work any more. You can work around this bug in gnome-disk-utility using these steps: * After selecting the SD card, instead of clicking the gear icon to format, click the partition in the "Volumes" section. * Delete the partition ("minus" icon) * Create a new partition [Test Case] $ sudo modprobe scsi_debug dev_size_mb=200 # this creates a new /dev/sdX, usually /dev/sdb; check dmesg! # now create a partition table $ cat

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1665914] [NEW] Ubuntu 16.04 freezes on Thinkpad X61 Tablet when touched by the stylus
Public bug reported: I have (up to date) Ubuntu 16.04 on IBM Thinkpad X61 Tablet. I can use the stylus to move the cursor – but when I touch the screen with it (i.e. click), the system immediately freezes. When I touch it without X, in the text mode (Ctrl+Alt+F1) it does not freeze. I tried to debug it over network, but the network also freezes at the same moment. When I try QubesOS (with kernel 4.1.13-9.pvops.qubes.x86_64) on the same machine, the stylus works correctly and the system does not freeze. Any tips how to debug it? Maybe using the serial port (I have the docking station with RS232). Or I can try some older releases and find the last one that was working if it helps. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1665914 Title: Ubuntu 16.04 freezes on Thinkpad X61 Tablet when touched by the stylus Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have (up to date) Ubuntu 16.04 on IBM Thinkpad X61 Tablet. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1647204] Re: 1.8.0-2 FTBFS in zesty 17.04
Hi, > No, that's not really acceptable. firstly +pic is not an hardening option > AFAIK, what you > effectively did was disabling pie. Then I don't particularly like disabling > tests just because > they hang; please somebody investigate why they hang and actually fix them. > Unsubscribing sponsors for now. I just wanted to say that the package I had in my kde-test-good PPA was just an experiment, nothing actually intended to be uploaded. Before finishing completely the fixing of this, I had to pause for a while my work on Ubuntu (I'm sorry about that). After catching up again with the work I was doing I see the problems I spotted initially (the entropy starvation and the tests hanging) were solved, thank you! However there are still at least a couple of problems more with this package. Right now, I'm doing some experiments here: https://launchpad.net/~panfaust/+archive/ubuntu/gpgme/ Yes, it's not something acceptable for uploading for now! But I hope to get something finished soon. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1665853] Re: Gnome Flashback: Could not assign CRTC to outputs, ignoring configuration
The path was wrong in #6 (I forgot the /.config/ Copying /home//.config/monitors.xml to /var/lib/lightdm/.config/monitors.xml fixes this issue for me (see image attached). Btw.: After upgrade to new HWE/Xorg I had to resize my monitors to get rid of similar situations for the gnome session itself. That could be done by reajusting resolution two times (go for wrong resolution and back to right resolution). But that could be done via GUI (system settings/displax devices). Be that a bug in itself or not, I think it is not convenient, at least. However, the GUI setting did not affect lightdm monitor settings. Only copying monitors.xml to /var/lib/lightdm/.config/ did. For lightdm, I think this is a bug, just because it requires non-GUI user interaction. Average users should not be tricked into such situations. ** Attachment added: "CIMG1107.JPG" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1665853/+attachment/4821679/+files/CIMG1107.JPG -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to lightdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1665853 Title: Gnome Flashback: Could not assign CRTC to outputs, ignoring configuration Status in gnome-flashback package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in lightdm package in Ubuntu: New Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I'm using ubuntu 16.04, up-to-date, HWE kernel 4.8.0-36-generic. No, the fact that the tweaks to the ucfr script helped means your installation *as a whole* is corrupted. egrep is /bin/egrep, which is part of the grep package. There is no reason for egrep to fail, but grep -E to work, except a corrupted system. An inordinately large number of web sites persistently advertise to "install our app" instead of providing the best web experience; an app which cannot be installed. This is exacerbated by the pervasiveness of webapps on Ubuntu phone, which simply embed the mobile web site with webapp-container, and still result in seeing such advertisements, despite the fact that the "app" on Ubuntu is already installed, and the Android apps being advertised are simply not installable. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1656155] Re: System (keyboard & touchpad) freezes
I did fresh install. Currently I am on Ubuntu 16.04 with `uname -r` -> 4.4.0-62-generic. I checked Ubuntu 16.10 on Feb 17 2017, sorry, but didn't check kernel version, but assure it was fresh as possible (after install I made `sudo apt upgrade`). Also I found that, maybe, all freezes occur in Chrome browser (in my scenario), so respectively to assumptions that Intel Graphic is guilty in this bug I switched off GPU support in Chrome settings and keep watching my laptop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to libdrm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1656155 Title: System (keyboard & touchpad) freezes Status in libdrm package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have a 1-month old Acer Aspire F5-573-58VX that came with Win-10 installed. It relies on its Intel i5-7200u for its graphics (HD 620). It runs Win-10 with no problems (other than Win-10 itself), so I do not suspect the hardware. I succeeded in dual-booting Ubuntu 16.04 with EFI and secure-boot both enabled, but was suffering random freezes at 3-30 minutes of use, even after setting the c-state limit in grub. It hangs both with and without Intel microcode. So I upgraded to 16.10 hoping that a newer kernel would have a fix in it. It's still freezing at random (many apps, and sometimes using only the desktop controls). It still has the c-state parameter in grub. It appears that if I leave the system untouched with the cursor in an empty area, then no freeze will occur (I can see display changing) as long as I don't touch anything. Bittorrent runs reliably overnight, and then the machine can freeze within seconds of my moving the cursor to a control in the morning. Thunderbird is also suspicious: I can work most of an hour OK as long as I never move the cursor over the scroll slider in the folder pane. However, bringing the cursor close enough to change the slider's appearance will usually freeze the machine. Update: I've now experienced a freeze while the cursor was stationary and I was merely typing into an email message window. When it freezes, the machine goes quiet (it's not spinning). There's no message to the GUI, only a sudden halt. When frozen, soft restart and reboot (ctrl-alt-back & ctrl-alt-del) both fail. Only a forced power-off has had any effect. (I'll try your alt+sysreq combos in my next freeze). Synaptic says I have an intel driver update utility installed, but I don't know if it has run. When I try to sudo it, I am told that the command is not found. I have been unable to locate it in the file system. If anyone knows where that goes (or where to hunt), that might be helpful. I do not (yet) know how to ssh into the sick machine to get kernel logs or crash dumps. I'm a user-space programmer, not a sysadmin, so I have a learning curve to open the firewall enough to allow an intrusion, and more learning curves for the cryptic debugging tools. var/log/kern.log has this: Jan 14 10:43:26 prop6 kernel: [1.002400] [drm:parse_csr_fw [i915_bpo]] *ERROR* Unknown stepping info, firmware loading failed Jan 14 10:43:26 prop6 kernel: [1.002405] i915_bpo :00:02.0: Failed to load DMC firmware [https://01.org/linuxgraphics/intel-linux-graphics-firmwares], disabling runtime power management. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1567035] [NEW] Wi-Fi Completely Disabled after Lid Shut Suspend on Dell Latitude 3340
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Wi-fi becomes disabled sometimes after the lid on the laptop is shut and the OS is suspended for a time. Bluetooth is turned off when this occurs. The network settings first reports "Wi-Fi is disabled" when the OS is resumed. If the user then disables and re-enables Networking or Wi-Fi via the menu option , the status of the Wi-Fi changes to say "Wi-Fi is disabled by hardware switch". [Touch-packages] [Bug 1571882] [NEW] 5GHz Wi-Fi Intermittently Disconnects on Dell Latitude 3340
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When connected to a 5GHz (802.11ac) WPA2 wireless network with UFW firewall enabled at system startup , I experience intermittent issues where the Wi-Fi completely disconnects and the 5G network is no longer displayed in the list of Wi-Fi Networks. Toggling the "Enable Wi-Fi" option resets the Wi-Fi and allows the user to reconnect. The latest A10 firmware version is installed on the laptop. I confirmed that the 5G network was still up and running , so the issue is most likely not on the router network end. I have no custom firewall rules that would cause this behaviour , but I do see a lot of multicast address resolution requests being blocked in the ufw logs. ** Package changed: linux-lts-wily (Ubuntu) => network-manager (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1571882 Title: 5GHz Wi-Fi Intermittently Disconnects on Dell Latitude 3340 Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: When connected to a 5GHz (802.11ac) WPA2 wireless network with UFW firewall enabled at system startup , I experience intermittent issues where the Wi-Fi completely disconnects and the 5G network is no longer displayed in the list of Wi-Fi Networks. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1665914] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 freezes on Thinkpad X61 Tablet when touched by the stylus
I have just encountered this same problem. I don't have the stylus but the system does freeze when I touch the screen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1665914 Title: Ubuntu 16.04 freezes on Thinkpad X61 Tablet when touched by the stylus Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have (up to date) Ubuntu 16.04 on IBM Thinkpad X61 Tablet.
