[Trac] Moving to trac
Hi please pardon me for any ignorance, as this is my first encounter with trac and on this mailing list. Now back to business. I have to move data from existing legacy bugtracking system, (which is Microsoft Access based and contains more than 100,000 tickets), to trac 0.11 + sqlite3. Now after looking at all the schemas in MS Access, I have created a small application, which will go through existing tickets and views one by one in access db and insert records into trac 'ticket' and trac 'ticket_custom' tables. Now question is, am I doing it the right way, or missing some thing. Another question arises is that the priority in legacy Ms Access db is 'High,Normal,Low'. So I want to change the trac's priority drop down values to ones in access db. I tried something like this in trac.ini where there are default values for priority (please ignore typo for priority) default_priority = 'low' default_priority.options = High|NormalLow but this didnt work. Although I changed some bits in components table, and can have my own component and mile stone values. Any idea if you see problem with my approach to migration, please ring the bell. Any help will be appreciated. Regards --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Trac Users group. [Trac] Re: Graphviz plugin migration trouble
On the surface, this ticket does not look very similar to our issue. For us, trac is passing a blank , where it should be passing a file name, and then it acts surprised that it doesn't work. The ticket shows a broken pipe error, and it never seems to reach to point where it's running /usr/bin/dot. Btw, our O/S is Debian 4.0. I installed the rsvg program to get it to that point. And like I said dot is installed, and the command that trac is trying to run would work perfectly fine if the blank were a file name containing the inlined dot code. I have verified this. -BC On Sep 13, 5:18 pm, Russ Brown [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I have just migrated from 0.10.3 to 0.11.1 and been fixing stuff as i go. [Trac] Graphviz plugin migration trouble
I have just migrated from 0.10.3 to 0.11.1 and been fixing stuff as i go. Looks great, btw. My GraphvizPlugin broke though. I have updated to the version available at http://trac-hacks.swapoff.org/svn and 0.11 directory the message I get is: Graphviz macro processor has detected an error. Please fix the problem before continuing. The command [u'/usr/bin/dot', ”, u'-Tgif', u'-o/var/cache/trac/graphviz/ d17c2d792b42ef258cd7d158e8ee3c04ebcb6de8.dot.gif'] failed with the the following output: Error: dot: can't open So the second parameter is not getting filled with a file name. However, if I run the above command with a file containing the contents of my dot file, it works. So this is just the plugin not behaving quite right. That is to say, /usr/bin/dot foo.dot -Tgif /var/cache/trac/graphviz/ d17c2d792b42ef258cd7d158e8ee3c04ebcb6de8.dot.gif works. [Trac] SVN repo in subdirectory of TRAC install
Hello, I installed TRAC on Dreamhost through this script: http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Trac TRAC is installed to /, and I have an SVN repo at /lamasy. I can access this repo fine through HTTP, but when doing a checkout or commit, the PROPFIND fails. Now, I've tracked this down to the .htaccess file blocking the requests. When I put RewriteRule ^lamasy/.*$ [L] after RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d the SVN repo works as expected again, but TRAC throws a 500 Internal Server Error. Is there any solution for this? I'd prefer to not move the SVN repo if at all possible. Thanks, Ben. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Trac Users group. [Trac] overriding default files in htdocs/*
I want to make a minor change to one of trac's css files, but I am trying to avoid changing the trac distribution's files directly (but I can as a last resort). I noticed that trac has its own htdocs/css dir where it serves the files from. I also have an htdocs dir in my trac environment. So I took a shot in the dark and created a [trac-env]/ htdocs/css/trac.css file that was very similar to the default trac.css (it contained my change), hoping it would override the default trac.css. No such luck. Is there a way to override trac's files without changing them directly in the distribution directory? [Trac] MasterTicket without blocking (linked tickets)
Hi, I would like to have some feedback on linked tickets. One of the general needs (or at least one of _my_ needs) when using a bug tracker is to link tickets. The TracLink syntax enables this perfectly. If I want to link #5 to #6, I have to edit #5 ticket and insert a #6 ref in it: here's the first part of the job imho. Why? Because if I edit #6, I cannot know that it is linked to #5: this has to be done manually by editing #6 and inserting a ref to #5, ie the remaining arrow of the ticket relationship. I add a look on Trac-Hacks, looking for a plugin which could do the job. Didn't find exactly what's needed here but found the MasterTicket plugin. In fact, the plugin I'm looking for is the MasterTicket plugin without the blocking functionality! Indeed, if Blocked By label is changed to Referred by and Blocking is changed to Referring, creating ticket #6 with a Referring field containing #5 will automatically insert a Refered by field to #6 in ticket #5! Finally, my question is (for coderanger? ;-) ): How to disable the blocking functionality in the MasterTicket plugin to make it very usefull to link tickets ? Thanks! [Trac] Operations in the Trac Workflow
Hey Everyone, Just curious is there a way to associate more than a single operation with an action in the trac workflow. Currently my workflow for the resolve action looks like this : resolve = new, assigned, accepted, reopened, ready for testing, more information provided, failed testing - closed resolve.operations = set_resolution resolve.permissions = TICKET_MODIFY But in certain circumstances we would like to have the action perform the set_owner operation also, obviously I tried just putting it in : resolve = new, assigned, accepted, reopened, ready for testing, more information provided, failed testing - closed resolve.operations = set_resolution resolve.operations = set_owner resolve.permissions = TICKET_MODIFY Though as expected only the last operation stated in the workflow can be performed by the action, just curious if there is a way of doing this as I couldn't find any documentation suggesting it was possible. My Trac.ini notification section looks like: [notification] always_notify_owner = true always_notify_reporter = true smtp_always_bcc = [EMAIL PROTECTED] smtp_enabled = true smtp_from = [EMAIL PROTECTED] smtp_port = 25 smtp_replyto = [EMAIL PROTECTED] smtp_server = smtp.mydomain.com When I activate the trac logging feature (DEBUG level), I can see the following: 2008-03-27 10:54:14,239 Trac[notification] INFO: self.smtp_server: smtp.mydomain.com 2008-03-27 10:54:14,239 Trac[notification] INFO: self.smtp_port: 25 2008-03-27 10:54:14,255 Trac[web_ui] ERROR: Failure sending notification on creation of ticket #4: (10061, 'Connection refused') Traceback (most recent call last): File c:\python25\lib\site-packages\Trac-0.11dev_r6658-py2.5.egg\trac \ticket\web_ui.py, line 921, in _do_create tn.notify(ticket, newticket=True) File c:\python25\lib\site-packages\Trac-0.11dev_r6658-py2.5.egg\trac \ticket\notification.py, line 149, in notify NotifyEmail.notify(self, ticket.id, subject) File C:\Python25\lib\site-packages\trac-0.11dev_r6658-py2.5.egg\trac \notification.py, line 239, in notify Notify.notify(self, resid) File C:\Python25\lib\site-packages\trac-0.11dev_r6658-py2.5.egg\trac \notification.py, line 128, in notify self.begin_send() File C:\Python25\lib\site-packages\trac-0.11dev_r6658-py2.5.egg\trac \notification.py, line 313, in begin_send self.server = smtplib.SMTP(self.smtp_server, self.smtp_port) File C:\Python25\Lib\smtplib.py, line 244, in __init__ (code, msg) = self.connect(host, port) File C:\Python25\Lib\smtplib.py, line 310, in connect raise socket.error, msg error: (10061, 'Connection refused') Please note that I added the two Trac[notification] INFO logs in my notification.py to be sure that the host and the port passed to constructor smtplib.SMTP(...) were correct. [Trac] Re: TOPIC: Notification when assigned
Thanks for your help Steve ! I'm running Trac 0.11b1 so it should be fixed, no ? When a ticket1 is created and which is related to component1, component1 being owned by user1, I would have expected Trac to send an email to user1 to warn him that a new ticket (ticket1) arrived in the trac database. The other use case is when this new ticket is reassigned, I would have expected the reassignee to be warned. All these use case does not seem to work on my platform (Windows, Trac0.11b1)... [Trac] Permissions in configurable workflow (0.11)
Hello! It is great that we have new configurable workflow in 0.11. But will be very nice if we can manage permissions to change statuses depends on current status and user group. action.permissions = TRAC_DEFINED_PERMISSION -- is useful and I tried that way... But in this case I had to be able to define new permissions in trac. Example case. I have 3 main groups - business, analysts and developers. Business creates new tickets, after that analysts must .accept. or .reject. them and assign to developers. But business users must not be able to assign to developers. But in current implementation we can't apply that schema. What do you think? Any help or advice will be appreciated. I've installed trac and when trying to run via either tracd or mod_python i'm getting a stack trace printed to the browser with the following error message ImportError: libpq.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. I've double checked that my postgres install is working and that my LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set properly. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! [Trac] Re: Help to set up trac properly
Hello, I have just set up a trac site using mod_fcgid. Having multiple projects works (I just tested) with a minimal change. I use suexec,mod_fgid. The steps you need to make: 1. Setup a virtual host (ssl preferably) for your domain (/var/www/ dev.domain.tld/) 2. Setup a user/group to hold your domain (only if you want suexec) 3. In the virtual host add this: SuexecUserGroup tracuser wwwgroup# only if you want suexec ScriptAlias /cgi-bin /var/www/dev.domain.tld/cgi-bin Directory /var/www/dev.domain.tld/cgi-bin SetHandler fcgid-script Options ExecCGI AllowOverride None allow from all SSLOptions +StdEnvVars# only if you want SSL /Directory ScriptAlias / /var/www/dev.domain.tld/cgi-bin/trac.fcgi Location / # only if you want SSL SSLRequireSSL /Location 4. Add the file /var/www/dev.domain.tld/cgi-bin/trac.fcgi Copy it from /usr/share/webapps/trac/0.10.4/hostroot/cgi-bin/trac.fcgi Edit it and put just before the try: # ... comments import os os.environ['TRAC_ENV_PARENT_DIR'] = /var/lib/trac 5. Change the owner and group of the /var/www/dev.domain.tld/cgi-bin/ trac.fcgi to tracuser:wwwgroup (the same with SuEXEC group -- only if you want suexec). Also be sure to chmod it to 755, and, if you don't want the user to be able to change it, chattr +i trac.fcgi :). 6. Do not forget to add -D SUEXEC -D FCGID at /etc/conf.d/apache2 7. Set permissions accordingly if you use SuExec, then chown -R tracuser:tracgroup /var/lib/trac/* chmod -R o-rwx /var/lib/trac/* if you don't use SuExec chown -R apache:apache /var/lib/trac/* chmod -R o-rwx /var/lib/trac/* Other directories that trac uses should be writable for the tracuser/apache (like cache for different plugins). I think that's it :). It doesn't handle logins, if you need it, you must either add specific locations, Location /project/login AuthType Basic AuthName Trac project authentication AuthUserFile /var/svn/project/conf/users Require valid-user SSLRequireSSL /Location Or, if you have only one password file for all projects, you can just add Location /*/login AuthType Basic AuthName Trac authentication AuthUserFile /var/svn/conf/users Require valid-user SSLRequireSSL /Location Altough I'm not sure about the last one. I hope it works, Iulian --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Trac Users group. [Trac] File locations
Okay, here's the situation... First, system summary (using TracModPython setup): SUSE Linux 10.1 apache2 2.2.0 apache2-mod_python 3.1.3 python, python-devel, python-xml 2.4.2 python-sqlite 1.1.6 clearsilver, python-clearsilver 0.10.5 trac 0.10.4 I'm working with an install that looks like this: two webservers, in DNS round-robin, share a file-space on an external drive. So on both machines, they mount this external space locally as /webmnt. This comes as a problem when it comes to Trac... I installed Trac in a directory locally on the machine (/var/trac/ project), then copied the files to /webmnt/trac/project. Made sure permissions were set, and voila, Trac was up and working. However, I noticed that Trac was still referencing files in /usr/share/trac/ templates and /usr/share/trac/htdocs when we started making changes to files. I was able to modify where Trac looks for templates, by creating / webmnt/trac/project/default-templates (/webmnt/trac/project/templates already contains some changes made locally) and copying the contents of /usr/share/trac/templates into it, changing the line in /webmnt/ trac/project/conf/trac.ini to 'templates_dir = /webmnt/trac/project/ default-templates.' I renamed directories in various ways to make sure Trac is reading from /webmnt/trac/project/default-templates and it appears to be working just fine. /usr/share/trac/htdocs, on the other hand, doesn't seem to be as simple. In normal configuration, relevant links in source of Trac pages appear with /chrome/common in certain paths (ie. href=/chrome/ common/css/trac.css), which disappear when I modify the 'htdocs_location =' line /webmnt/trac/project/conf/trac.ini. Even - if- I have trac.css in the correct directory relative to the document root of the server that I set with htdocs_location (ie. href=/htdocs2/ css/trac.css in the source code, physical file /webmnt/trac/project/ htdocs2/css/trac.css exists), the page loses it's .css layout as if it can't read the .css file. However, no errors show up in the Apache error log file, and GET /htdocs/css/trac.css shows up in the apache access log file. /usr/share/trac/htdocs/README reads 'This directory contains files used by Trac's default clearsilver templates' but how do I go about changing this? Is this something I can do through files found in Trac, or will this require clearsilver wrangling? :/ This is my first use of either Trac or clearsilver. I installed both via. the download.opensuse.org repositories that contain builds for both Trac and clearsilver. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Trac Users group. [Trac] pysqlite versions
Hi, I have a working version of Trac and am trying to figure out what sqlite interface is being used. I can't find any module called pysqlite2 on my machine, but I do have something called sqlite and something else called _sqlite. sqlite seems to be version 1.1.7. Is this really pysqlite with a different name? What is _sqlite (as opposed to the module sqlite)? Is there some reason I should install pysqlite2? [Trac] All attachments have stopped working
Hello all, On further investigation, I have confirmed that attachments used to be working on our Trac installation, and now they are not. The attachment button no longer appears on tickets or wiki pages, and existing attachments generate errors (e.g. an image in a ticket now renders as a red error box reading Error: Macro Image(screenshot.jpg) failed local variable 'desc' referenced before assignment) (We are running Trac 0.11dev-r6160 with AccountManager, authz-policy, CustomFieldAdmin, loginredirect and WikiInclude plugins on Linux via Apache.) Possible causes that I have attempted to fix: * set trac.ini group:owner to root:apache (overwriting this file had changed these settings) * set authzpolicy.conf group:owner to root:apache (same reason as above) * set attachments directory group:owner to root:apache (dunno how this changed but it did; the subdirectories are all correctly set to apache:apache) * restarting Apache server after making these changes Are there any other conditions that might make Trac automatically ignore attachments? Thanks for any pointers given! [Trac] Combining projects (copying/moving tickets between projects)
Hello all, We've got two projects running off the same Trac installation (i.e. seperate directories, trac.ini files, etc). We have now decided to use only one, and would like to combine them by moving all the tickets and wiki pages from Project A to Project B. I haven't found any examples or conversations of this via Google or searching this group, can it be done? Copying the wiki pages across manually shouldn't be tricky, as there aren't too many of them. There are many tickets, with comments, though, so a manual process seems out of the question. Are there any ticket import/export scripts or plugins that might help here? (And avoid obvious problems like clashing ticket IDs?) Thanks for any pointers or suggestions! [Trac] Re: Trouble with authz_policy plugin
Hello all, I have a 99% solution to my original query which I'm outlining below for interest/comment (including a potential bug in authzpolicy.conf? see attempted [wiki:*] rule below) On Nov 19, 8:03 pm, [EMAIL PROTECTED] seaward [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: On Nov 19, 6:32 pm, [EMAIL PROTECTED] seaward [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I have installed authz_policy on 0.11dev-r6160 as perhttp://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracDev/SecurityBranch#Testingthefeatures using revision 6139, not the update recently posted to trac-dev. Still using revision 6182 I have made a temporary solution for my use- case. It isn't perfect, but will do for now. I did this by giving the customer group the WIKI_VIEW permission and the developer group the WIKI_ADMIN permission via the Trac web admin interface. Then I used the authzpolicy.conf file (see below) to deny WIKI_VIEW on particular pages for particular groups. [Trac] TracPermissions - can groups inherit group permissions?
Hello all, When adding subjects to groups on the permissions page (0.11dev), can groups themselves belong to groups? e.g. if I have: * group customer with permissions X, Y * group acme with permission Z and belonging to group customer * subject angela who belongs to group acme ...will angela have permissions X, Y Z? Or should I rather add angela to group customer and group acme? If it doesn't make a difference, is there a best practice? Thanks! [Trac] New custom fields and old tickets
Hello all, I am capturing a number of tickets, planning to go back and add custom fields later. But I read a reference in the documentation that made me worry that this will be wasted effort. Under http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracTicketsCustomFields#ReportsInvolvingCustomFields it says If you created this custom ticket field after you have already created some tickets, they will not have this custom field defined for that ticket Does this mean that the custom field value is just not set for an old ticket, but I can still go back and set it, or does it not exist for an old ticket, and I can never set it? (If it's the latter I'd better define my custom fields now before capturing more tickets!) (And does it make a difference if I edit trac.ini directly or use http://trac-hacks.org/wiki/CustomFieldAdminPlugin ?) Thanks! [Trac] Component permissions (how to set per-user visibility in dropdown lists?)
Hello all, Beginner Trac user here. We want to run multiple projects on a single environment, with similar outcomes to the one described in the old query below (the requirement to hide tickets etc from multiple users) and I looked at the PrivateTickets plugin as suggested. Our plan is to make user groups owners of tickets, and thereby hide/show tickets from groups of users. (This is a feature of PrivateTickets.) However, all component and milestone values will be visible to all users (e.g. when creating a ticket). We also want to show/hide dropdown information per user (i.e. users/groups are restricted to which component and milestones values they can see in a dropdown). Are there any existing plugins that make visible dropdown values user- dependent? Alternatively, is there any other way to run multiple projects on one environment, and restrict access to dropdown values at the same time? (Is this what 0.11 fine-grained permissions are supposed to be giving us? - once they are extended to tickets in addition to the already- existing permissions on SVN and wiki) [EMAIL PROTECTED] References: * http://trac-hacks.org/wiki/PrivateTicketsPlugin (plugin restricting access based on owner/cc field) * http://trac-hacks.org/ticket/2068 (an alternate solution with no suggestions) * http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracDev/SecurityBranch and http://trac.edgewall.org/browser/trunk/sample-plugins/authz_policy.py (just in case anyone else is looking for a similar solution - this applies wiki permissions only, not ticket-based permissions/access/ filtering) Old group message Groups and permissions: On Dec 29 2006, 6:22 am, Noah Kantrowitz [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Look at the PrivateTickets plugin on trac-hacks. --Noah On Dec 28, 2006, at 7:40 PM, Lincoln Mongillo wrote: I'm starting to use trac quite a bit for a specificprojectthat involves multiple vendors. [Trac] Re: Just installed and get blank 'available projects' page when fire up tracd
It's been awhile since I setup svn on Trac, but I think you need the Python svn module first. If you're using windows, you can get those here: http://subversion.tigris.org/servlets/ProjectDocumentList?folderID=8100expandFolder=8100folderID=8100 You need to be sure you pick the right one for your version of svn and python. After that, I think you simply need to tell trac where your svn repo is in the trac.ini file. I forget exactly what the property in the .ini is, but it was easy to find. I also vaguely remember reading that the SVN repo and Trac needed to be located on the same physical server. I'm not sure that's true anymore but you can ry it this way if you have any problems doing it remotely. Good Luck!! [Trac] Trac Login Question
Currently, I'm working through the painful process of configuring Authentication via MS Active Directory, but I have a question about Trac logins in general. Is there anyway to automatically log someone into a project provided they are allowed to see it in the first place? From what I can tell so far, following the instructions in the TracGuide will still require the user to do the following to login to trac project: * Click on the Login link * Enter their username/password Now, I realize they can save this information in the browser of their choice and they will be automatically logged in while the username/ password combo remains valid. However, we require that users change their windows/network passwords every 30 days. This would mean they would be prompted to re-enter their credentials the next time they went into Trac. That would annoy me. Is there anyway to have Trac work in the following manner: * Go to your Trac project site * Be authenticated via Apache/LDAP * If you are authorized to see the project, you are logged in No need to pop up and ask for a password. That's ultimately how I would like my implementation of Trac to work - I just need to know if there's something extra I need - a plugin or whatever.
