[Trac] Apache child-process crash when accessing trac

2008-11-24 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello,

i have installed trac from the latest trunk, and tested the
configuration successfully with tracd webserver.

After that i configured the apache 2.2.10 httpd.conf to work with
trac. By accessing trac via browser, i get the following error message
connection closed while trying to load website.

Apache error.log shows me that:

[notice] mod_python: Creating 8 session mutexes based on 0 max
processes and 64 max threads.

[]

[notice] Parent: child process exited with status 3221225477 --
Restarting.
[notice] Apache/2.2.10 (Win32) SVN/1.5.4 DAV/2 configured -- resuming
normal operations
-

If i delete the line repository_dir = ... in trac.ini, trac loads
successful and i can view the trac pages.

It seems to be a problem with some module, which interact with the svn
repository and trac. I want to remind, that i host the same svn-
repository with subversion in apache without problems.

My svn-python version is 1.5.4, similar to subversion 1.5.4...
Any idea which reason it is? Thanks!

[Trac] svn and trac

2008-11-15 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I think that some of you will smile when they read this but I am a bit
pressed for time time, have read about 6 different suggestions of how
to connect svn and trac. Have done one which suites my setup best and
now I have trac running and configured. But I fail to see how I can
actually add an svn project over the trac web interface.

Under the browse source I get

Name Size Rev AgeLast Change

but no option of creating a new entry.

I have searched but some how fail to find. Any hint will be very
welcome.

[Trac] How do I get the permission script to work

2008-10-30 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

according to Trac if I want to limit access to a page I need to use
this script: $ trac-admin /path/to/projenv permission list. My
questions are where do I place this line, in the page I want to
restrict?
Where does the projenv permission list live, is that a separate wiki
page?

[Trac] Purge Old Versions of a Wiki Page?

2008-10-28 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I've got a Wiki page in Trac that included some authentication
information that I want to purge from the wiki completely. The only
version of the page I want viewable is the latest version, which has
had this authentication information removed.

Is that possible? I don't see an option for this. If it is possible,
how do I go about it?

[Trac] Persistent wiki problem: invalid literal for int in wiki_to_html

2008-10-27 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi there, I have a trac install where certain tickets refuse to
display
because I've posted Rails' backtrace information which includes
something to trip up the wiki formatter. The error I get is:

ValueError: invalid literal for int():
0f23ce0a757854301cd1c93221074396956ed0a2

And the top of the backtrace shows that it's in wiki_to_html:

I assume something about the =-- is magic and causing the rest of the
line to be passed to int(). Because the backtrace stops early and
I've
not delved into trac or Python too heavily, it'll be slow progress for
me to try to fix this - can anyone who knows the trac internals a bit
better suggest a fix? I can obviously work around by poking the data
a
little bit.

This happened with a 0.11 svn build, and I upgraded to 0.11.1 just in
case, but I get the same error.

Thanks,

Matthew

should be), you could probably attach your zip file there as a first

Rainer,

[Trac] How can I configure Trac to use subversion 1.5

2008-10-07 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi,

I have 2 subversion executable in my system.
one is subversion 1.4.6 : /usr/bin/svn
one is subversion 1.5.2: /home/meryl/bin/svn1.5/bin

i have read the documentation here for installation:
http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracInstall

But when I try the step #2 in the check point here:
http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracSubversion#TracandSubversion1.4

I get (1,4,6,6)
 from svn import core
 (core.SVN_VER_MAJOR, core.SVN_VER_MINOR, core.SVN_VER_MICRO,
 core.SVN_VER_PATCH)
(1, 4, 6, 6)

I need Trac to use subversion 1.5.2 instead of subversion 1.4.5 since
my subversion repository is created using 1.5.2.

Thank you for any pointers for fixing my problem.

Thank you.

Trac does not use the SVN executables - at all.
It relies on Python SVN modules and libraries, so you need to install
 the Python packages for svn1.5.

The procedure depends on your Unix/Linux distribution (rpm, aptitude,
 emerge, ...)

[Trac] Moving to trac

2008-10-02 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi please pardon me for any ignorance, as this is my first encounter
with trac and on this mailing list.
Now back to business.
I have to move data from existing legacy bugtracking system, (which is
Microsoft Access based and contains more than 100,000 tickets), to
trac 0.11 + sqlite3. Now after looking at all the schemas in MS
Access, I have created a small application, which will go through
existing tickets and views one by one in access db and insert records
into trac 'ticket' and trac 'ticket_custom' tables. Now question is,
am I doing it the right way, or missing some thing.
Another question arises is that the priority in legacy Ms Access db is
'High,Normal,Low'. So I want to change the trac's priority drop down
values to ones in access db. I tried something like this in trac.ini
where there are default values for priority (please ignore typo for
priority)
default_priority = 'low'
default_priority.options = High|NormalLow
but this didnt work.
Although I changed some bits in components table, and can have my own
component and mile stone values.

Any idea if you see problem with my approach to migration, please ring
the bell.
Any help will be appreciated.

[Trac] Re: adding nav items

Hi,

Regarding this issue, just wanted to let you know that I've posted, a
few minutes ago, another navigation related hack on trac-hacks:

Features:
 - add new items to trac navbars
 - hierarchical items organization(using Superfish js

Thank you,

[Trac] Re: Graphviz plugin migration trouble

2008-09-14 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

On the surface, this ticket does not look very similar to our issue.
For us, trac is passing a blank , where it should be passing a file
name, and then it acts surprised that it doesn't work. The ticket
shows a broken pipe error, and it never seems to reach to point where
it's running /usr/bin/dot.

Btw, our O/S is Debian 4.0. I installed the rsvg program to get it to
that point. And like I said dot is installed, and the command that
trac is trying to run would work perfectly fine if the blank were a
file name containing the inlined dot code. I have verified this.

Consider the reverse way: if you can implement the same features with
XMLRPC, do not hack the database.

As I wrote, if you ever write a non-UTF-8 character in the DB, the
error may remain silent for weeks, and sometimes later prevent from
accessing a ticket or even prevent from running any report or query in
 the future, for example.

Right, if you don't have Subversion you need to use the 'Download the

Unzip and cd into whatever version corresponds to your Trac version,
 then read the docs athttp://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracPluginsand
continue with whatever suits you best.

[Trac] SVN repo in subdirectory of TRAC install

2008-07-05 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello,

I installed TRAC on Dreamhost through this script:
http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Trac

TRAC is installed to /, and I have an SVN repo at /lamasy. I can
access this repo fine through HTTP, but when doing a checkout or
commit, the PROPFIND fails.
Now, I've tracked this down to the .htaccess file blocking the
requests. When I put
RewriteRule ^lamasy/.*$ [L]
after
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
the SVN repo works as expected again, but TRAC throws a 500 Internal
Server Error.

Is there any solution for this? I'd prefer to not move the SVN repo if
at all possible.

Thanks,
Ben.

[Trac] overriding default files in htdocs/*

2008-05-07 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I want to make a minor change to one of trac's css files, but I am
trying to avoid changing the trac distribution's files directly (but I
can as a last resort). I noticed that trac has its own htdocs/css dir
where it serves the files from. I also have an htdocs dir in my trac
environment. So I took a shot in the dark and created a [trac-env]/
htdocs/css/trac.css file that was very similar to the default trac.css
(it contained my change), hoping it would override the default
trac.css. No such luck.

Is there a way to override trac's files without changing them directly
in the distribution directory?

[Trac] MasterTicket without blocking (linked tickets)

2008-04-11 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi,

I would like to have some feedback on linked tickets.

One of the general needs (or at least one of _my_ needs) when using a
bug tracker is to link tickets. The TracLink syntax enables this
perfectly. If I want to link #5 to #6, I have to edit #5 ticket and
insert a #6 ref in it: here's the first part of the job imho. Why?
Because if I edit #6, I cannot know that it is linked to #5: this has
to be done manually by editing #6 and inserting a ref to #5, ie the
remaining arrow of the ticket relationship.

I add a look on Trac-Hacks, looking for a plugin which could do the
job. Didn't find exactly what's needed here but found the MasterTicket
plugin.

In fact, the plugin I'm looking for is the MasterTicket plugin without
the blocking functionality!
Indeed, if Blocked By label is changed to Referred by and
Blocking is changed to Referring, creating ticket #6 with a
Referring field containing #5 will automatically insert a Refered by
field to #6 in ticket #5!

Finally, my question is (for coderanger? ;-) ): How to disable the
blocking functionality in the MasterTicket plugin to make it very
usefull to link tickets ?

Thanks!

The labels for the two fields can be set to whatever you want in trac.ini.

To remove the blocking behavior just delete this section
 here:http://trac-hacks.org/browser/masterticketsplugin/0.11/mastertickets/...

 and remove ITicketManipulator from this
 list:http://trac-hacks.org/browser/masterticketsplugin/0.11/mastertickets/...

 Good luck.

The labels for the two fields can be set to whatever you want in trac.ini.

To remove the blocking behavior just delete this section
  here:http://trac-hacks.org/browser/masterticketsplugin/0.11/mastertickets/...

  and remove ITicketManipulator from this
  list:http://trac-hacks.org/browser/masterticketsplugin/0.11/mastertickets/...

  Good luck.

Why do we use the native field name instead of the label? This looks
like it is coming from TicketModule.grouped_changelog_entries. It just
uses the field name from the ticket_changes table directly. Sounds like
this should be fixed in trunk no the plugin.

[Trac] TracMetrix plugin: Old Tickets should no be displayed

2008-04-08 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi,

This is a TracMetrix issue.
When I run a query on my database, i get 245 tickets that have a
status different from closed (ie new, reopened, accepted, assigned
AND testing as I'm using the http://trac-hacks.org/wiki/TestingWorkflow).
When displaying the Project dashboard, I can see more than 700 open
tickets in the Daily Backlog Statistics and a lot of tickets in my
Monthly Backlog Metrics that should not be displayed here.

Indeed, a lot of tickets here are closed more than 10 months old and I
can't understand why they are displayed...

Here's my daily backlog:
http://www.upload2world.com/pic84/upload2world_11d8f.png
which is not so usable as is! I can't see where the problem is,
looking into the sqlite database shows me that these tickets have the
correct timestamp and therefore should not be displayed...

thanks a lot for your support !

Pierre

[Trac] Operations in the Trac Workflow

2008-04-03 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hey Everyone,

Just curious is there a way to associate more than a single operation
with an action in the trac workflow.

Currently my workflow for the resolve action looks like this :

resolve = new,assigned,accepted,reopened,ready for testing,more
information provided,failed testing - closed
resolve.operations = set_resolution
resolve.permissions = TICKET_MODIFY

But in certain circumstances we would like to have the action perform
the set_owner operation also, obviously I tried just putting it in :

resolve = new,assigned,accepted,reopened,ready for testing,more
information provided,failed testing - closed
resolve.operations = set_resolution
resolve.operations = set_owner
resolve.permissions = TICKET_MODIFY

Though as expected only the last operation stated in the workflow can
be performed by the action, just curious if there is a way of doing
this as I couldn't find any documentation suggesting it was possible.

Thanks In advance,
Chris

[Trac] smtplib issue in my notification.py

2008-03-27 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi,

I'm running Trac 0.11dev-r6658 with Python: 2.5.2, mod_python: 3.3.1)
and I've got some difficulties in making the notification work.

My Trac.ini notification section looks like:

[notification]
always_notify_owner = true
always_notify_reporter = true
smtp_always_bcc = [EMAIL PROTECTED]
smtp_enabled = true
smtp_from = [EMAIL PROTECTED]
smtp_port = 25
smtp_replyto = [EMAIL PROTECTED]
smtp_server = smtp.mydomain.com

When I activate the trac logging feature (DEBUG level), I can see the
following:

2008-03-27 10:54:14,239 Trac[notification] INFO: self.smtp_server:

Ok seems that I cannot reach my smtp.mydomain.com...

The problem is that if I do (from python shell):
 import smtplib
 server=smtplib.SMTP('smtp.mydomain.com', 25)
server.sendmail('[EMAIL PROTECTED]', '[EMAIL PROTECTED]', 'test message')

...everything is ok! the mail is sent...etc...

Any help would be appreciated as I am a python beginner !

Thanks a lot

When a ticket1 is created and which is related to component1,

The other use case is when this new ticket is reassigned, I would have

[Trac] Authentication error

2008-02-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi all,
I'm new to trac and I'm facing a problem with authentification.
I've used trac-admin to set an environment in /home/trac and then set
my apache conf like this :
VirtualHost *:80
DocumentRoot /home/trac
ServerName localhost/trac

Location /
  SetHandler mod_python
  PythonInterpreter main_interpreter
  PythonHandler trac.web.modpython_frontend
  PythonOption TracEnv /home/trac
  PythonOption TracUriRoot /trac
/Location

LocationMatch /login
AuthType Basic
AuthName TracAuthentification
AuthUserFile /home/trac/.htpasswd
Require valid-user
/LocationMatch
/VirtualHost

Then I set the .htpasswd with the htpasswd command but I still get an
error when I click on the Login link.
Authentication information not available. Please refer to the
installation documentation.

However, the trac seems to work, I can add ticket and edit wiki.

I use the 0.10 version.

Any idea?

Are you sure you're using the mercurial-plugin-0.11 branch (and not the
mercurial-plugin one, which is exclusively for 0.10)?
You can easily check by going in the Admin/plugins page.

Aha, no I wasn't, it was 0.10. 0.11 (installed globally, as the 0.10
was) gives me this error:

Warning: Can't synchronize with the repository (Unsupported version
control system hg. Check that the Python support libraries for hg
are correctly installed.)

The debug log shows me that the plugin was loaded, so I'm not sure why
hg isn't recognised as a repository type. Here's the debug log:

Hi again Simon,

Thanks a lot for your time and your usefull comments. I will dig into
template engines very soon as I heard about them but never look at
them closely.
I tried your update but there is still a problem :
The Trac Logo and Powered by Trac 0.11b1 ...By Edgewall Software.
label are located on top of Create a new ticket : the footer seems
to be before the form...
I would be very interested in teo's site.html ...

Thanks again for your precious help

[Trac] Re: displaying custom warning message on new ticket page.

2008-01-29 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Impossible :-) ... I've just washed my glasses and still see what
I described before...
Here's my trac about :
Trac: 0.11b1
Python: 2.5.1 (r251:54863, Apr 18 2007, 08:51:08) [MSC v.1310 32 bit
(Intel)]
setuptools: 0.6c7
SQLite: 3.3.4
pysqlite: 2.3.2
Genshi: 0.5dev-r789
Pygments: 0.9
Subversion: 1.4.6 (r28521)
jQuery: 1.2.1

And I'm using only one additional plugin which is AccountManager...
Can't understand what happens then...

That is... impossible :-) I have no idea how that snippet could ever
manage that. Is your Genshi up-to-date - from trunk? Any other
modifications or plugins that change the layout and ordering of that
 page?

I've used it for a long time without issues. Anyone else using the
snippet: feel free to chime in with your experience of using it.

  I would be very interested in teo's site.html ...

t.e.o is still on 0.10, so that is the old way of site_newticket.cs in
 templates folder.

[Trac] Yet another Authentication information not available

2008-01-17 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello everyone,
Im using Trac with mod_python and apache

This is my current configuration inside the httpd.conf:

VirtualHost *:80
DocumentRoot /opt/trac/htdocs
ServerName bugs.winsbydefault.com

Directory /opt/trac/*
Options +IncludesNoExec +Includes
/Directory

Location /
SetHandler mod_python
PythonHandler trac.web.modpython_frontend
PythonOption TracEnvParentDir /opt/trac
SetENV PYTHON_EGG_CACHE /opt/trac/plugins
PythonOption TracUriRoot /
/Location

LocationMatch /[^/]+/login
AuthType Basic
AuthName trac
AuthUserFile /opt/trac/.htpasswd
Require valid-user
/LocationMatch
Alias /trac /opt/trac/htdocs
Alias /css /opt/trac/htdocs/css

Location /trac
SetHandler None
/Location

/VirtualHost

Everything works, you can submit issues (as anonymous) and allIt
that, but I cannot login with the error:
Authentication information not available. Please refer to the
installation documentation.

access_log shows:
85.195.52.231 - - [17/Jan/2008:19:03:41 +0100] GET /test/login HTTP/

It worked if i did not use VirtualHost and configure my server with

Location /projects
  SetHandler mod_python
  PythonInterpreter main_interpreter
  PythonHandler trac.web.modpython_frontend
  PythonOption TracEnvParentDir /opt/trac
  PythonOption TracUriRoot /projects
/Location
LocationMatch /projects/[^/]+/login
  AuthType Basic
  AuthName Trac
  AuthUserFile /opt/trac/.htpasswd
  Require valid-user

as the tutorial tells you to ( http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracModPython
) but I want to be able to use VirtualHost,
Ideas?

[Trac] Permissions in configurable workflow (0.11)

2008-01-13 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello!

It is great that we have new configurable workflow in 0.11. But will
be very nice if we can manage permissions to change statuses depends
on current status and user group.

action.permissions = TRAC_DEFINED_PERMISSION -- is useful and I tried
that way... But in this case I had to be able to define new
permissions in trac.

Example case.

I have 3 main groups - business, analysts and developers.
Business creates new tickets, after that analysts must .accept.
or .reject. them and assign to developers. But business users must not
be able to assign to developers. But in current implementation we
can't apply that schema.

What do you think?

Any help or advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

 [Trac] Reports with graph

  Hello to everyone,

I'm new on this list, joining today's afternoon.
I developed in shell script a program to access Trac database and
  generate a report with graph.
Tomorrow I'll probably start migrating this to python.
Unfortunately I don't have access to my code from home (and I'm home
now), so, I can send that tomorrow.
I just wan't to know if anyone has interest in this.

It's a simple report that we are using to help to follow the project
  development.

[Trac] Re: Column widths on table

2008-01-07 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi Filipe,

As far as I know there isn´t a way to change column width using wiki
markup

I use this workarround: insert html formated tables like below.

- Pro
-- you control column width

- Constraints
 -- different sintax (harder one)
-- no wiki markup inside this will be checked as
 -- more...

{{{
#!html
TABLE WIDTH=98% BORDER=1 BORDERCOLOR=#b84747 CELLPADDING=2
CELLSPACING=0
TR BGCOLOR=#80 VALIGN=TOP
TH WIDTH=11%
P/P
/TH
TH COLSPAN=3 WIDTH=38%
P ALIGN=CENTERFONT COLOR=#ffBData
Management/B/
FONT/P
/TH
TH COLSPAN=4 WIDTH=51%
P ALIGN=CENTERFONT COLOR=#ffBCommunication
Plan/B/
FONT/P
/TH
/TR
/TABLE
}}}

I´ve made another tests with TracWikiTemplates Plugin (http://
wikitemplates.ufsoft.org/)
 - you can define a template like below
 - and use it on your wiki page, like this
{{{
#!html
TABLE WIDTH=98% BORDER=1 BORDERCOLOR=#b84747 CELLPADDING=2
CELLSPACING=0
TR BGCOLOR=#80 VALIGN=TOP
TH WIDTH=11%

/TH
TH COLSPAN=4 WIDTH=51%

/TH
/TR
TR VALIGN=TOP
TD WIDTH=11% HEIGHT=42 BGCOLOR=#80
P ALIGN=CENTERFONT
COLOR=#ffB{{4}}/B/FONT/P
/TD
TD WIDTH=13% BGCOLOR=#b84700
P ALIGN=CENTERFONT
COLOR=#ffB{{5}}/B/FONT/P
/TD
TD WIDTH=13% BGCOLOR=#b84700

TD WIDTH=13% BGCOLOR=#b84700
P ALIGN=CENTERFONT

/TD
TD WIDTH=13% BGCOLOR=#b84700
P ALIGN=CENTERFONT
COLOR=#ffB{{8}}/B/FONT/P
/TD
TD WIDTH=13% BGCOLOR=#b84700
P ALIGN=CENTERFONT
COLOR=#ffB{{9}}/B/FONT/P
/TD
TD WIDTH=13% BGCOLOR=#b84700

/TD
TD WIDTH=13% BGCOLOR=#b84700
P ALIGN=CENTERFONT

/TR
/TABLE
}}}

you instance it in your wiki page like this
[[T(TableTest | arg_1 | arg_2 | arg_...| arg_11 )]]

Where arg_x your text (like this = Data Management)

I hope this helps you.

[Trac] Authentication information not available. Please refer to the installation documentation.

2007-12-16 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'm using trac with fcgi and apache2.2+suexec and trac 0.10.4

When I go to my trac's url, I am prompted for the basic login. I
enter my username and password and it lets me in but instead of my
name, I'm just anonymous and there's a login button up at the top.
Trac itself is working and I can navigate around and even create and
modify pages and tickets. I click on the login button and I get:

Authentication information not available. Please refer to the
installation documentation.

No errors in the trac.log, error_log or httpd-error.log. I believe
that I've followed the documentation.

I have tried using cgi but the results are identical.

My fcgi script looks like this because I had to set some variables
because I use su-exec:

#!/bin/sh
export TRAC_ENV=/home/www/trac/docroot
export PYTHON_EGG_CACHE=/tmp
exec /usr/local/share/trac/cgi-bin/trac.fcgi

/home/www/trac/docroot/.htaccess looks like this:
AuthType Basic
AuthName Trac
AuthUserFile /home/www/trac/htpasswd
Require valid-user

My htpasswd file contains something like this:
MichaelGrant:xyzxyzxyzxyz

and the virtualhost entry in httpd.conf looks like this:
VirtualHost trac.example.not
SuexecUserGroup mgrant mgrant
DocumentRoot /home/www/trac/docroot
ServerName trac.example.not
ErrorLog /home/www/trac/log/error_log
ScriptAlias /cgi-bin /home/www/trac/cgi-bin

I am using the generic out of the box trac.ini.sample, though I have
also tried with these modifications (domain name substituted was
example.not):

[Trac] Installation problems

Hi Folks,

Hoping someone out there has had the same troubles that i'm having and
can point me in the right direction. I've installed trac and when
trying to run via either tracd or mod_python i'm getting a stack trace
printed to the browser with the following error message ImportError:

I've double checked that my postgres install is working and that my

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

[Trac] Re: Help to set up trac properly

2007-12-09 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello,

I have just set up a trac site using mod_fcgid. Having multiple
projects works (I just tested) with a minimal change.

I use suexec,mod_fgid.
The steps you need to make:
1. Setup a virtual host (ssl preferably) for your domain (/var/www/
dev.domain.tld/)
2. Setup a user/group to hold your domain (only if you want suexec)
3. In the virtual host add this:
SuexecUserGroup tracuser wwwgroup# only if you want suexec
ScriptAlias /cgi-bin /var/www/dev.domain.tld/cgi-bin
Directory /var/www/dev.domain.tld/cgi-bin
SetHandler fcgid-script
Options ExecCGI
AllowOverride None
allow from all
SSLOptions +StdEnvVars# only if you want SSL
/Directory
ScriptAlias / /var/www/dev.domain.tld/cgi-bin/trac.fcgi
Location / # only if you want SSL
SSLRequireSSL
/Location
4. Add the file /var/www/dev.domain.tld/cgi-bin/trac.fcgi
Copy it from /usr/share/webapps/trac/0.10.4/hostroot/cgi-bin/trac.fcgi
Edit it and put just before the try:

# ... comments

import os
os.environ['TRAC_ENV_PARENT_DIR'] = /var/lib/trac
5. Change the owner and group of the /var/www/dev.domain.tld/cgi-bin/
trac.fcgi
to tracuser:wwwgroup (the same with SuEXEC group -- only if you want
suexec). Also be sure to chmod
it to 755, and, if you don't want the user to be able to change it,
chattr +i trac.fcgi :).
6. Do not forget to add -D SUEXEC -D FCGID at /etc/conf.d/apache2
7. Set permissions accordingly
if you use SuExec, then
chown -R tracuser:tracgroup /var/lib/trac/*
chmod -R o-rwx /var/lib/trac/*

if you don't use SuExec
chown -R apache:apache /var/lib/trac/*
chmod -R o-rwx /var/lib/trac/*

Other directories that trac uses should be writable for the
tracuser/apache (like cache for different plugins).

I think that's it :). It doesn't handle logins, if you need it, you
must either add specific locations,
Location /project/login
AuthType Basic
AuthName Trac project authentication
AuthUserFile /var/svn/project/conf/users
Require valid-user
SSLRequireSSL
/Location

Or, if you have only one password file for all projects, you can just
add
Location /*/login
AuthType Basic
AuthName Trac authentication
AuthUserFile /var/svn/conf/users
Require valid-user
SSLRequireSSL
/Location
Altough I'm not sure about the last one.

I hope it works,
Iulian

[Trac] File locations

2007-11-30 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Okay, here's the situation... First, system summary (using
TracModPython setup):
SUSE Linux 10.1
apache2 2.2.0
apache2-mod_python 3.1.3
python, python-devel, python-xml 2.4.2
python-sqlite 1.1.6
clearsilver, python-clearsilver 0.10.5
trac 0.10.4

I'm working with an install that looks like this: two webservers, in
DNS round-robin, share a file-space on an external drive. So on both
machines, they mount this external space locally as /webmnt. This
comes as a problem when it comes to Trac...

I installed Trac in a directory locally on the machine (/var/trac/
project), then copied the files to /webmnt/trac/project. Made sure
permissions were set, and voila, Trac was up and working. However, I
noticed that Trac was still referencing files in /usr/share/trac/
templates and /usr/share/trac/htdocs when we started making changes to
files.

I was able to modify where Trac looks for templates, by creating /
webmnt/trac/project/default-templates (/webmnt/trac/project/templates
already contains some changes made locally) and copying the contents
of /usr/share/trac/templates into it, changing the line in /webmnt/
trac/project/conf/trac.ini to 'templates_dir = /webmnt/trac/project/
default-templates.' I renamed directories in various ways to make
sure Trac is reading from /webmnt/trac/project/default-templates and
it appears to be working just fine.

/usr/share/trac/htdocs, on the other hand, doesn't seem to be as
simple. In normal configuration, relevant links in source of Trac
pages appear with /chrome/common in certain paths (ie. href=/chrome/
common/css/trac.css), which disappear when I modify the
'htdocs_location =' line /webmnt/trac/project/conf/trac.ini.  Even -
if- I have trac.css in the correct directory relative to the document
root of the server that I set with htdocs_location (ie. href=/htdocs2/
css/trac.css in the source code, physical file /webmnt/trac/project/
htdocs2/css/trac.css exists), the page loses it's .css layout as if it
can't read the .css file. However, no errors show up in the Apache
error log file, and GET /htdocs/css/trac.css shows up in the apache
access log file.

/usr/share/trac/htdocs/README reads 'This directory contains files
used by Trac's default clearsilver templates' but how do I go about
changing this? Is this something I can do through files found in
Trac, or will this require clearsilver wrangling? :/ This is my
first use of either Trac or clearsilver. I installed both via. the
download.opensuse.org repositories that contain builds for both Trac
and clearsilver.

[Trac] pysqlite versions

2007-11-29 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi,

I have a working version of Trac and am trying to figure out what
sqlite interface is being used.

I can't find any module called pysqlite2 on my machine, but I do have
something called sqlite and something else called _sqlite. sqlite
seems to be version 1.1.7. Is this really pysqlite with a different
name? What is _sqlite (as opposed to the module sqlite)? Is there
some reason I should install pysqlite2?

Thanks for any ideas,

[Trac] All attachments have stopped working

2007-11-22 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] seaward

Hello all,

On further investigation, I have confirmed that attachments used to be
working on our Trac installation, and now they are not. The attachment
button no longer appears on tickets or wiki pages, and existing
attachments generate errors (e.g. an image in a ticket now renders as
a red error box reading Error: Macro Image(screenshot.jpg) failed
local variable 'desc' referenced before assignment)

(We are running Trac 0.11dev-r6160 with AccountManager, authz-policy,
CustomFieldAdmin, loginredirect and WikiInclude plugins on Linux via
Apache.)

Possible causes that I have attempted to fix:
* set trac.ini group:owner to root:apache (overwriting this file had
changed these settings)
* set authzpolicy.conf group:owner to root:apache (same reason as
above)
* set attachments directory group:owner to root:apache (dunno how this
changed but it did; the subdirectories are all correctly set to
apache:apache)
* restarting Apache server after making these changes

Are there any other conditions that might make Trac automatically
ignore attachments? Thanks for any pointers given!

Reviewing the log I have seen errors similar to:

So it looks like I'll be editing the authzpolicy.conf again

Will post results tomorrow.

[Trac] Combining projects (copying/moving tickets between projects)

2007-11-21 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] seaward

Hello all,

We've got two projects running off the same Trac installation (i.e.
seperate directories, trac.ini files, etc). We have now decided to use
only one, and would like to combine them by moving all the tickets and
wiki pages from Project A to Project B.

I haven't found any examples or conversations of this via Google or
searching this group, can it be done?

Copying the wiki pages across manually shouldn't be tricky, as there
aren't too many of them.

There are many tickets, with comments, though, so a manual process
seems out of the question. Are there any ticket import/export scripts
or plugins that might help here? (And avoid obvious problems like
clashing ticket IDs?)

Thanks for any pointers or suggestions!

[Trac] trac-pre-commit hook on windows

2007-11-20 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi,

I've just installed SVN / Apache / Trac on a windows machine and I am
looking for some pre-commit.bat et post-commit.bat launchers for
respectively trac-pre-commit-hook and trac-post-commit-hook.

I can't find something up to date on the Net. I've made my own post-
commit.bat but can't make my pre-commit.bat work since I don't know
how to get the svnlook output into a batch variable.

thanks for your help !

Actually, there are some successful windows installations of pure .bat
callers for Trac hook scripts; but also many issues with quotes,
white-space character in path and so forth ;-)
Note that the .sh wrappers I use don't call svnlook and friends:
everything is done in the Python script, so you may want to use the
 original trac hook scripts.

 Cheers,
 Manu

[Trac] Re: Trouble with authz_policy plugin

2007-11-20 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] seaward

Hello all,

I have a 99% solution to my original query which I'm outlining below
for interest/comment (including a potential bug in authzpolicy.conf?
see attempted [wiki:*] rule below)

On Nov 19, 8:03 pm, [EMAIL PROTECTED] seaward [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

I have updated to authz_policy revision 6182 which was submitted today

...

  The idea is that
  1) Anonymous users can see WikiStart and nothing else.
  2) Customers will only get access to wiki pages that begin with their
name, e.g. Acme users will only see Acme, Acme/Documentation, Acme/
  Reports, etc.
  3) Developers can see and modify all wiki pages.

Still using revision 6182 I have made a temporary solution for my use-
case. It isn't perfect, but will do for now.

I did this by giving the customer group the WIKI_VIEW permission and
the developer group the WIKI_ADMIN permission via the Trac web admin
interface. Then I used the authzpolicy.conf file (see below) to deny
WIKI_VIEW on particular pages for particular groups.

Requirements 1 and 3 are working, but customers still get access to
any page not listed in the authzpolicy.conf. For example, an Acme user
can't see an Apogee* page, because this is a rule, but could see the
page Spam/Eggs because Spam* is not defined.

I tried adding a final catchall rule, but this denies access to ALL
wiki pages for customer users.

1) Attempted catchall rule (should appear after all other
authzpolicy.conf rules and catch any pages not already filtered):

2) authzpolicy.conf

[Trac] Trouble with authz_policy plugin

2007-11-19 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] seaward

Hello all,

I have installed authz_policy on 0.11dev-r6160 as per
http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracDev/SecurityBranch#Testingthefeatures
using revision 6139 [1], not the update recently posted to trac-dev.

However, my authzpolicy.conf (permissions and file below) doesn't seem
to be working. Am I getting the ordering wrong? (I've tried to swop
things around a couple of times.)

1 is working. 2 and 3 are not working (customer and developer users
cannot access any wiki pages after they are logged in - only user
alice in the example below can do so because she belongs to the admin
group with the TRAC_ADMIN permission).

[Trac] TracPermissions - can groups inherit group permissions?

2007-11-15 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] seaward

Hello all,

When adding subjects to groups on the permissions page (0.11dev), can
groups themselves belong to groups? e.g. if I have:
 * group customer with permissions X, Y
 * group acme with permission Z and belonging to group customer
 * subject angela who belongs to group acme

...will angela have permissions X, Y Z?

Or should I rather add angela to group customer and group acme?

If it doesn't make a difference, is there a best practice?

Thanks! (I'm finding Trac Users a really friendly and helpful bunch :)

[Trac] New custom fields and old tickets

2007-11-14 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] seaward

Hello all,

I am capturing a number of tickets, planning to go back and add custom
fields later. But I read a reference in the documentation that made me
worry that this will be wasted effort.

Under
http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracTicketsCustomFields#ReportsInvolvingCustomFields
it says If you created this custom ticket field after you have
already created some tickets, they will not have this custom field
defined for that ticket

Does this mean that the custom field value is just not set for an old
ticket, but I can still go back and set it, or does it not exist for
an old ticket, and I can never set it? (If it's the latter I'd better
define my custom fields now before capturing more tickets!)

(And does it make a difference if I edit trac.ini directly or use
http://trac-hacks.org/wiki/CustomFieldAdminPlugin ?)

Thanks!

[Trac] Component permissions (how to set per-user visibility in dropdown lists?)

2007-11-13 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] seaward

Hello all,

Beginner Trac user here. We want to run multiple projects on a single
environment, with similar outcomes to the one described in the old
query below (the requirement to hide tickets etc from multiple users)
and I looked at the PrivateTickets plugin as suggested. Our plan is to
make user groups owners of tickets, and thereby hide/show tickets from
groups of users. (This is a feature of PrivateTickets.)

However, all component and milestone values will be visible to all
users (e.g. when creating a ticket). We also want to show/hide
dropdown information per user (i.e. users/groups are restricted to
which component and milestones values they can see in a dropdown). Are
there any existing plugins that make visible dropdown values user-
dependent?

Alternatively, is there any other way to run multiple projects on one
environment, and restrict access to dropdown values at the same time?
(Is this what 0.11 fine-grained permissions are supposed to be giving
us? - once they are extended to tickets in addition to the already-
existing permissions on SVN and wiki)

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

References:

* http://trac-hacks.org/wiki/PrivateTicketsPlugin (plugin restricting
access based on owner/cc field)

* http://trac-hacks.org/ticket/2068 (an alternate solution with no
suggestions)

* http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracDev/SecurityBranch and
http://trac.edgewall.org/browser/trunk/sample-plugins/authz_policy.py
(just in case anyone else is looking for a similar solution - this
applies wiki permissions only, not ticket-based permissions/access/
filtering)

easier. Wonderful product - such a shame my manager is adverse to open

I had no trouble setting it up on ubuntu. There were quite a few steps

little more detail on the way python packages work (even though that
information can be found elsewhere too).

Are you using windows? If so, the mod_auth_sspi module for Apache is
what you need. Works pretty well unless you machine has cached
windows credentials like mine did :)

[Trac] Re: Just installed and get blank 'available projects' page when fire up tracd

2007-11-10 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

It's been awhile since I setup svn on Trac, but I think you need the
Python svn module first.

If you're using windows, you can get those here:

http://subversion.tigris.org/servlets/ProjectDocumentList?folderID=8100expandFolder=8100folderID=8100

You need to be sure you pick the right one for your version of svn and
python.

After that, I think you simply need to tell trac where your svn repo
is in the trac.ini file. I forget exactly what the property in
the .ini is, but it was easy to find. I also vaguely remember reading
that the SVN repo and Trac needed to be located on the same physical
server. I'm not sure that's true anymore but you can ry it this way if
you have any problems doing it remotely.

Good Luck!!
Drew

 Did your run

   trac-admin /path/to/myproject initenv

 to create a trac project?

You will also need to add that project ti the tracd command so it
knows about it when it starts the server.

   tracd --port 8000 /path/to/myproject

 Hope this helps!!

No. There is no radio button visible.

Firebug reveals that wysiwyg.js is loaded, wysiwyg.css is loaded but no
 radiobutton what soever.

Also I don't get any script errors to console.

Any ideas to detect what goes wrong. Tested also with Opera 9 and IE 7,

I encountered exactly the same issue and don't know why either.

[Trac] Trac Login Question

2007-10-30 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Currently, I'm working through the painful process of configuring
Authentication via MS Active Directory, but I have a question about
Trac logins in general.

Is there anyway to automatically log someone into a project provided
they are allowed to see it in the first place?

From what I can tell so far, following the instructions in the
TracGuide will still require the user to do the following to login to
trac project:

* Click on the Login link
* Enter their username/password

Now, I realize they can save this information in the browser of their
choice and they will be automatically logged in while the username/
password combo remains valid. However, we require that users change
their windows/network passwords every 30 days. This would mean they
would be prompted to re-enter their credentials the next time they
went into Trac. That would annoy me.

Is there anyway to have Trac work in the following manner:

* Go to your Trac project site
* Be authenticated via Apache/LDAP
* If you are authorized to see the project, you are logged in

No need to pop up and ask for a password.

That's ultimately how I would like my implementation of Trac to work -
I just need to know if there's something extra I need - a plugin or
whatever.

Thanks

Drew Kulick

On Server B, on which e-mail notifications do not work, the only field

The conf files on both servers are identical.

Is there another place that controls which items appear in the Admin
