This seems to mean Pavel built things for them. oo2po against the SDF
file should at least extract PO files based on that state.

I also noticed some newer files against OOO320 and OOO330 at the same
site. The original site, from where these SDF files are pulled is down.

This is what I'd do:
1) Get the SDF files from DEV300, OOO320 and OOO330.
2) Create PO files using oo2po.
2.1) Do counts on each one to see if they are different
3) Create compendium using pocompendium for each version
3.1) Remove any conflicts using pofilter with compendiumconflicts test
3.2) Combine the compediums and again filter the conflicts
3.3) You can do any pofilter tests to improve the quality of the
compendium
4) Try to choose which you believe is the best from which to start:
DEV300, OO320
5) pomigrate2 against the best candidate but include compendiums you
created above
6) Again resolve conflicts
7) Start trnaslation

I'm not really sure, might not be worth the work.

The only thing we found that was accessible is this
http://ftp.linux.cz/pub/localization/OpenOffice.org/devel/build/Files/DEV300/GSI_gd.sdf.bz2

but that appears to be a pre-release work in progress version. A lot of
strings have odd markings against them. I believe they built their own
but I'm not entirely sure.

Is it possible to somehow reverse engineer from the build into the strings?

Well its easy to migrate 1.0 to 3.0 with pot2po but you will find a lot
untranslated.

Do you have the source for the commissioned 3.0 translations in any
form? If not that would be really sad, did they build an OOo version
themselves or with Sun?

Dwayne,

Ok, thanks, at least I know it's the right place - I'll give them till
Monday and then repost.

Sadly, the only things I have is a PO for 1.0 and some prelimary 3x
version; it appears that the company who was paid to do the 3.x
localisation never bothered to commit anything to an OO server/site...

le meas mòr,

Michael

That's the right place to post for help. OpenOffice.org runs a version
of Pootle, we've helped them to setup the server but we don't manage the
server.

Do you have the original PO files or SDF file for Scots Gaelic? If so
I'd suggest reporting a bug against OOo and putting them there.

[translate-pootle] Adding new/old locale

2010-10-28 Thread Michael Bauer
A chàirdean,

I've just taken over the localisation for my locale (Scots Gaelic, gd).
AFAICT the main platform used these days is Pootle, which is fine by me
but I need some help getting the existing strings loaded onto Pootle.
There's an old release of OO in Gaelic (6.06; http://gd.openoffice.org/)
but I have no idea how do move them as I'm much more of a translator
than a software engineer.

I've posted to d...@l10n.openoffice.org but no response since Wednesday.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Michael
