I can confirm this bug, that also appears on Edgy: the sound coming from my microphone is so low that I have to speak very close to it if I want to have something audible. [Bug 151168] Re: memory leak with ring
Although I'm obviously biased (as the one who wrote ring), I have to say that I really, really doubt there is a leak that may fill several hundred megabytes of memory inside ring. Besides the usual boilerplate code that every compiz plugin has, there is only one place of allocation where a 8 byte structure is allocated for each window in the ring. So even if it wasn't freed correctly (which it is here), it would take ages to fill up memory with that allocation, unless you have a really absurd amount of windows in the ring. The second place where stuff is allocated from ring is the window title display (which is also freed just fine here) ... if you want to check that, just disable either the window title display or the text plugin. For me, the issue sounds like a driver problem, just as sampsa wrote before me. -- memory leak with ring https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151168 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 110534] Re: xchat-gnome crashes
I am having the same problem as above. I used to use xchat under debian, but switched to ubuntu with my new PC a few months ago. I've not been able to use it to connect to the freenode #ubuntu channel since. I run xchat-gnome from the command line, and it starts up ok, connects to freenode, sends my nick password / etc. Then I get the channel selection window, if I type in the channel name (ubuntu) and click join channel, both the main windows and the join channel window die, and I get: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ xchat-gnome (xchat-gnome:25886): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_strsplit: assertion `string != NULL' failed Segmentation fault (core dumped) as the output in the terminal. [Bug 108527] Re: X freezes when compiz is enabled on ATI cards
i also saw that, with moving mouse cursor on a radeon 7000/VE. since i read about it happening when opening windows (for me it happened several times when switching workspaces, i'm using the wall desktop plugin for that, but maybe also a window was opening in the background, not sure), and since some people mentioned that increasing AGP aperture helped, i thought it might be too little texture memory to store all the windows? Afterwards everything is good except for update manager complaining about the broken packages. [Bug 153194] kontact navigator toolbar won't stay when moved
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kontact Using Kontact 1.2.4 (enterprise 0.20070907.709405) on KDE 3.5.8 / Gutsy , the Navigator toolbar resists being positioned in anything but the default placement. By default, the Navigator toolbar is comprised of the special items: SpacerAction ActionList: navigator_actionlist This populates the Navigator toolbar with six icons, one for each of the Kontact components. When enabled as a horizontal toolbar (along the top), the Navigator toolbar's icons are by default positioned at the right most edge of the screen. The Navigator toolbar's handle appears much further to the left, just after the last icon of the previous toolbar. I would like to place the Navigator toolbar in the left most position at the top, with the other toolbars following just after it on the same line. Kontact will allow me to drag and drop the toolbar into the position described, but upon changing to a different Kontact component, or exiting and restarting Kontact, the Navigator toolbar's position changes. It usually appears on it's own new line, below the component- dependent toolbar(s). I attempted to alter the placement of the Navigator toolbar by deleting the SpacerAction from it, the effect of that is that all the icons dissapear from the Navigator toolbar, leaving only its handle. I also attempted to manipulate the the Navigator toolbar's position by manually editing the ~/.kde/share/config/kontactrc file. under the [MainWindow Toolbar navigatorToolBar] heading, but this too was unhelpful. Specifically I tried removing the NewLine=true line and altering the Offset value, but these changes did not have a positive effect. Finally I tried removing both the SpacerAction and the ActionList: navigator_actionlist items from the Navigator toolbar, and manually added the icons for the six Kontact components, all using the Configure Toolbars option within Kontact. Even after manually populating the toolbar in this manner, I could not get the Navigator toolbar to stay in the position I placed it. I also tried restoring the Navigator toolbar to its default state, using the Defaults button in the Configure Toolbars option, but this simply restores the Navigator toolbar to its original right-aligned state. Comparing with a different machine, still running Kontact 1.2.4 on KDE 3.5.6 / Edgy, I am able to place the Navigator toolbar where I desire on that installation, and the toolbar stays put. The only obvious difference is that the Navigator toolbar on that machine has on it only ActionList: navigator_actionlist, not the SpacerAction item. ** Affects: kdepim (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- kontact navigator toolbar won't stay when moved https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/153194 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 152449] Re: HTTPS not working with Konqueror 3.5.8
It's the same for me with the latest updates. I am attaching two new screenshots. First one is when I open the URL directly, and the second one when I get to in steps. Only the first page I visit is then secured with SSL. There are no error messages in the konsole from where I started konqueror. When submitting this bug report initially launchpad.net gave me an error when I tried to submit it which I suspected might be related with the SSL problem. I'll try removing ~/.kde ie. trying with a clean user because my $HOME is inherited from 7.04 later today. ** Attachment added: konq3.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10048242/konq3.png -- HTTPS not working with Konqueror 3.5.8 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152449 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 153203] panel wrongfully appears on top of fullscreen windows when switching workspaces
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz When switching _TO_ a workspace with a fullscreen window, if you are switching FROM a workspace where the panel is visible AND any window in that workspace is focused, the panel will not disappear and it will overlap the window which is supposed to be fullscreen on the panel you are switching TO. The panels do not go away from the fullscreen workspace until the fullscreen window is manually clicked/focused. REPRODUCE: fullscreen xterm on workspace 1, move ot workspace 2, click on panel, move to workspace 1 and see panel where it should not be visible. This is gutsy, updated/upgraded via apt-get yesterday, running on a lenovo thinkpad x60 w/intel 945 graphics. OpenGL programs work nicely on this machine, with compiz they are somewhat slower. I have enabled extra desktop effects - wobbling, panning workspace switching (not the cube). I run many workspaces and switch between them with ctrl-f1, ctrl-f2 etc. I usually dedicate some workspaces to running applications in full- screen (not maximized, but full-screen) mode - an xterm for irc on one workspace, a fullscreen firefox on another, etc. Normally I have a desktop shortcut (shift-ctrl-enter) to toggle fullscreen, so i use it a lot. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- panel wrongfully appears on top of fullscreen windows when switching workspaces https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/153203 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 132286] Re: Exaile should look in /usr/lib/codecs for installed codec
I don't think this is a bug, since neither Exaile nor Ubuntu endorses these 3rd party packages. Even if it is, this would be a GStreamer issue. Marking Invalid. ** Changed in: exaile (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- Exaile should look in /usr/lib/codecs for installed codec https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/132286 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 151822] Re: [GUTSY]ubuntustudio-theme doesn't work properly
Alright, major n00b here... a search of the UbuntuStudio WIKI revealed that this is in fact NOT a bug, rather than the UbuntuStudio Gutsy theme is in fact supposed to be flat black. I've also located and installed the Feisty theme. Sorry to bother. ** Changed in: ubuntustudio-look (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- [GUTSY]ubuntustudio-theme doesn't work properly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151822 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 147668] Re: No way to browse applications' manuals
1. Blindly listing documents by application name without a coherent categorisation means that regular users are just going to stop reading the help and go somewhere else. Matthew, please note that the Advanced Topics document starts with this phrase: The Ubuntu help system contains a lot of documentation, not all of which you see in the table of contents. You can, of course, use the search feature, but as well as you allow to browse man and info pages by category (Advance Topics-Terminal Commands References // Advanced Topics-GNU Info Pages), I think we should allow to browse XML/Docbook manuals by category too. Just a real case example: the Italian GNOME team provides guidelines for Italian translation. I wrote those using XML/Docbook, packed inside a tgz that works like the gnome-user-docs source package: run configure/make/make install and read in Yelp. It's an external and additional document, of course, and it's useful only for Italian translators: there is no interest to merge it in the structure of Ubuntu documentation system. This to explain that the GNOME help system can be used to provide more then application manual. So, IMHO, hiding the index for XML/Docbook documents is a bad idea: it should be available near the man in info index. You can of course use a different default approach to help users to browse, but any documentation system needs an index. 2. Quite a lot of the documents listed in the standard yelp indexes are totally irrelevant to the vast majority of desktop users and confuse them rather than assist them (e.g. GNOME Documentation XSLT Manual). This is a different issue, not related to provide an index for XML/Docbook. Could be solved in deb package build, splitting doc stuff. However, note also that XSTL manual is listed under Other documents category, the proper category for other stuff: if you are browsing here, you should know that you can find odd stuff :-) And just to note that both the major Gnome manuals (accessibility guide and user guide) are incorporated into the layout. The Accessibility guide now has its own entry. system-admin-guide guide seems still out to me. As well as manuals from the new gnome-devel-docs module. maybe this is not yet included in Ubuntu, but it provide useful sfuff: an overview of GNOME Desktop for developers, the HIG, the style guide for manuals and a simple guide to integrate non-GNOME apps in GNOME Desktop (application menu, mime type, icons...) If there are specific pages which you believe should be included in the current setup, and aren't, please file a bug on ubuntu-docs. I could like something like the attached HTML for Advance Topics page (note the All Installed Manuals section, come from my previous considerations); links should open related pages on standard gutsy system, except stuff from gnome-devel-docs (platform-overview and hig- book). But it's too late for gutsy, so I'll propose it in the next 6 months. ** Attachment added: My personal view of Advanced Topics page http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10048334/advanced-topics.html -- No way to browse applications' manuals https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147668 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
